MIYARA’S POV

“You okay? Isa leaned in, keeping her voice low. I shifted uncomfortably in my seat as sweat tickled down my back. “You look pale”

Concern laced her voice. How could I tell her the man standing in front of the class was the one I hooked up with yesterday and my stepbrother? I had a bad memory but those eyes… they were etched in my memory. I was right all along when I felt there was something familiar about him.

“I’m fine”, I tore my gaze from him and took in a deep breath to calm myself. Isa’s eyes narrowed.

“You sure”

“Yeah.” I lied.

I was anything but fine right now. The hickey he left above my nipple still hurt. My cheeks heated up as a reminder of last night. I could still feel his eyes on me, making it difficult to focus. I clenched my thighs, in an attempt to ease the ache blooming there.

The marker scratched across the whiteboard.

Professor Caden Cross

My lungs forgot how to work.

Cross.

Still Cross.

Not Anderson. Of course, he’d never take Dad’s name. After what happened after Dad called him sick, after they dragged him out of our house and sent him to whatever place they send boys who mess with the wrong girls.

He wouldn’t touch that name with a ten-foot pole.

Those eyes lifted from the board and swept the room.

My heart slammed so hard I thought Isa could hear it.

Same eyes. Same sharp, dark gaze that used to pin me in place when I was fifteen and stupid enough to think he might actually like me back. The same ones that stared through the mask last night while his lips moved over my skin.

He stepped to the podium, shoulders set like he was bracing for something. The same jaw I’d traced with shaking fingers in the dark. The same lips that left the bruise still burning above my nipple.

“Good morning.” His voice rolled out low, controlled, deeper than I remembered from teenage summers, but the same quiet edge. “I’m Professor Caden Cross. This is Business Ethics.”

Ethics.

The word landed like a slap.

He clicked the projector on. “This course isn’t about memorizing rules or pretending the world is black and white. It’s about the moments when everything blurs, when personal desire slams into professional responsibility. When you cross a line… and there’s no clean way back.”

I pressed my thighs together so hard as my nails dug into my palms.

He knew.

He had to have known last night. The masks didn’t hide the shape of my mouth when I moaned. I had even taken it off, God.

And now he stood there, calm, authoritative, teaching us about consequences while I sat here marked by him.

Isa leaned in again. “Miya, breathe.”

I couldn’t.

Because the man who disappeared from my life six years ago was back, and with him every feeling I had tried to bury

He clicked the projector remote. The first slide appeared behind him: Syllabus & Course Objectives.

“This isn’t a philosophy seminar,” he continued, eyes moving across the rows. “It’s not about memorizing codes of conduct or pretending the answers are always clean. This course is about the real world. The moments when everything collides, personal desire against professional duty, loyalty against self-preservation, the line you know you shouldn’t cross… but do anyway”.

My fingers curled around the ball pen. The hickey throbbed under my bra like a second heartbeat.

Desire. Duty. Every word felt aimed at me.

I swallowed hard.

He went on and on, taking the class through what we should expect for the semester. All this while, his eyes found a way to me, that mischievous look glinting in his eyes.

I couldn’t wait for class to be over. I needed to get out of here. As soon as possible.

Isa kept saying something, but I couldn't hear her. It was as if everything else had faded and the only thing I could hear was my own heartbeat and his voice sending tingles down my spine.

“That’ll be all for today. See you next week”, Kaden finally said to the class as he ruffled the files on his desk.

“Miya!”

Isa’s voice snapped me out of it.

“This is the third time I've called you now. Please come back to earth”, she joked.

“Don’t tell me you’re still thinking about the asshole.” She put her hands on her hips, glaring at me as other students walked in between us in a loud chatter.

“No… I—” I didn't get to finish when I heard my name.

“Miss Miyara Anderson, stay after class”, his voice came out firm and commanding, catching me off guard.

A couple of students cast wary glances at me, probably thinking I had gotten into trouble with the new professor already.

“You might need to leave without me Isa”, I turned to Isa whose eyes were on my stepbrother. Sorry, professor. I didn't even know what he was to me at this point.

“The rumours were true after all”, she said, eyes scanning him from top to bottom.

The hall was almost empty now. Leaving me with only Isa and Kaden. My stomach somersaulted at being left alone with him. He couldn’t he have known it was me right? What had I gotten myself into?

“See you”, Isa wrapped an arm around me before heading towards the door, letting it click shut behind her.

He was looking at me, almost as if memorizing my features into his head. My chest tightened, heat travelling up my cheeks.

I moved slowly, wishing the distance between us stretched further so I could delay my impending doom.

I kept my head down, sweeping my hair forward to cover half of my face as I finally reached where he stood.

I didn’t need to look up to see his eyes on me. I could feel it in my bones.

“Eyes on me”, he commanded, voice rough and husky. It sent shivers down my spine to my toes. I slowly raised my head, meeting his eyes.

Icy blue eyes like glass stared back at me, holding me in place. His cologne filled my nostrils, cedar and something expensive.

“I didn’t know my little sister was so desperate for cock she’ll beg any stranger to fuck her.”

Heat rose to my face. I tightened the hold on my bag strap.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about Professor” My voice cracked, betraying me.

He let out a low chuckle, circling the desk and leaning towards me. My breath caught when he whispered in my ear.

“The next time you beg me to fuck you, I won’t be a gentleman”

MIYARA“Wait…what?” Isa exclaimed, shooting up from her seat, almost knocking the coffee over. The other customers in the shop cast curious glances at us, whispering.I expected it, yet my chest twisted uncomfortably. Barbara glanced toward the door again, as if checking to see if someone was there.“You fucking drugged someone and you're this chill about it?” Isa’s voice was rising, her fingers pointing at Barbara who seemed to just want to get this over with.“Stay out of it bitch, I'm talking to my cousin.”Isa scoffed. “Cousin? Stop acting like you give a shit about your relations.”I pulled at her hand, dragging her to sit back down but she wouldn’t budge. She and Barbara were glaring at each other now.“And oh,” she continued, crossing her arms over her chest. “ My friend’s business is my business. So get your silly ass out of here if you’re done talking, bitch.”Barbara’s jaw tightened slightly. She inhaled slowly, eyes flicking to me, completely disregarding Isa. Something in

MIYARA“Permission?” My hand tightened around the phone as I sat upright. My chest felt like it was on fire, and my head was spinning. He remained calm on the other side after dropping such nonsense. I snorted. “Life doesn't revolve around you Caden. You don’t tell me what to do.”I hung up before he could say anything else. What did he take me for? Some pushover? Sighing, I dried off and decided to focus on other things. He could go tell his girlfriend to ask for permission for all I cared. Two hours later, I couldn't rest. My mind was all over the place, and my brain had decided to play the events at his office on a loop. I grabbed my jacket and was about to head out when I ran into Isa right at the door. Great. Just perfect timing. Not. I wasn’t ready to explain what happened, or, let’s say, cook up lies about it, since that’s what I've been very good at recently. She twisted the cap of a water bottle and gulped it down at a go. “And I was about to file a missing person report.

  • Ruin Me: My Stepbrother, My Professor   Used And Forgotten

MIYARAThe warmth from what had just happened between us hadn’t faded when a woman’s voice came through the phone. “Hey baby, missed me?”My entire body went still as my gaze flickered from the phone to his face. Baby? He had a girlfriend? Did I just let my stepbrother who had a girlfriend fuck me in his office like some whore? His jaw clenched, hands wiping down his face. Regret twisted in my gut, the weight of what we’d just done settling in me. I had no clue why I was feeling this way compared to the first time probably because I was a bit unconscious. Even so, my stomach twisted into knots. The thought of Caden being with another woman made my heart clench. I pushed up from the desk, pulling down my skirt and throwing on the rest of my clothes, my fingers trembling. Caden was by the way, saying something to the woman that I couldn’t hear. Just how cruel could a person be? I opened the door quietly just as he turned. Our eyes met, and for the briefest second, I thought he

CADENShe had been watching me all this time and thought she was being smart. Each time I gestured with my hands, she watched my fingers and my lip movement, then wrote something in her book. I decided to go find out just what was distracting my little sister.I didn’t expect to find what I found. Sneaky little liar. She had been fantasizing about me all this while, small smiles playing on her lips while she wrote things I did to her.As I folded the paper and shoved it into my pocket, her face went pale, and she shifted uncomfortably in her seat.I went on with the lecture even though my mind was filled with the words on the paper burning into my pocket: ‘His hands traced my face, fingers sliding into my mouth.’My cock was already getting hard thinking about it.“That’ll be all for today. See y’all next week.” I forced a professional smile as the students packed their things and left the room one by one.My eyes found her again. Miyara. Her face had turned the deepest shade of pink,

MIYARAHis taillights vanished around the corner, the lights fading in the distance. My battery flashed 3 percent and the Uber ride I’d just ordered canceled on me. I clutched my phone tighter as I paced the sidewalk. Should I call Jace? Not a good idea. But what choice did I have?My fingers hovered over the screen when headlights approached, the lights almost blinding me. A black Porsche stopped beside me and rolled the window down. “Get in before I change my mind.”“No. Just go as you did earlier.”I stomped forward, arms wrapped around myself, not sparing him a glance. I had almost forgotten how terribly I reacted to the cold. My fingers were so numb I thought they had frozen, and my nose had started to run, but there was no way in hell I was climbing into that car. He followed me on the side, blaring the horn at me. Once. Twice.“Leave me alone,” I snapped, my voice rising. “I really want to. But I don't want to be accused of murder. Get in and stop being stubborn.”“No,” I r

MIYARAThe doorknob turned again but thankfully the door was locked. I drew in a sharp inhale as Caden pressed closer to me. Claire was still at the door. I could hear her footsteps.“You guys okay in there?” She called again, probably knowing her son had followed me inside. My heart stuttered. “Tell her we’re fine.” His voice brushed my ear, sending tingles down my spine. I swallowed and subtly cleared my throat. “I’m fine… I mean we’re okay. I'm taking some meds before I lie down.”The turning of the doorknob stopped, then I heard an okay and footsteps descending the stairs.Relief flooded over me. That was a close one.“You seem to have gotten better at lying,” he said into my ear as I twisted and turned to get out of the cage he had me in between his body and the wall. “Being sorry doesn't erase the past Miyara. The scars will always be there no matter how many times you apologize.”A humorless laugh left his lips. “You think you’re perfect? The perfect daughter? Wait until you
