Chapter 26: Cautious

Adriel hurriedly opened the door to Daphne’s apartment. She saw Daphne in the kitchen, making herself a cup of iced coffee.

Daphne turned around when she heard the door opening, smiling at Adriel as she went in.

“Hey, you’re back. Zenon’s taking a nap, so you can stay here for a while,” Daphne said. “Do you want some?” she asked, gesturing to her iced coffee.

Adriel shook her head and sat down on the couch, nervously fiddling her fingers. Daphne sat right beside her and leaned back on the couch.

“Oh,” Daphne said, clapping her hands. “Something interesting happened this day.”

Adriel bit her lips and turned towards Daphne. “Did you, perhaps, meet a set of twins this morning?”

Daphne’s eyes widened in surprise. “Are you a psychic or something? How did you know?”

Adriel closed her eyes and placed her hand on her forehead. “Ah, I was hoping that it was just a mere coincidence.”

Daphne frowned. “What’s wrong?”

“The set of twins that you met...I know them,” she confessed.

“Oh,” Daphne said.
