Chapter 5

POV Willow

I was too startled by Jake's kiss to react. He knew better than to kiss me in front of Dean and it pissed me off. I heard Dean's growl and then I heard Devon's. I pushed Jake away.

"Stop it. All of you." I commanded.

Jake looked hurt again and walked out to the hall. James quickly followed him as Carla checked in with me.

"You okay" she asked in my mind.

I nodded and weakly smiled at her.

"I'll be over in an hour to get ready" She said aloud.

"See you then" I replied. She walked out of the room.

"Do you all need to go to your lockers or anything?" I asked Liam, Ash, Sam and Dean.

"Nope. We're good" Ash replied as Dean just stared at me.

POV Dean

"Okay. I'll show you to your car after Willow gets her things." Devon decided as we walked out to the hallway.

Willow stopped by her locker and I made a note of which one it was. She got out her purse and bag. She grabbed a few books and then quickly shut it. I noticed that Devon kept his arm around her at all times. I puzzled over this. I knew that he was her brother and they were close but this seemed odd. Willow caught me looked and shrugged. I noticed that the rest of us were looking too.

"Devon gets really protective, especially after a fight or attack." she explained and Devon nodded.

"She's my baby sister." he added.

I could understand the sentiment. After watching her take down those rouges, I had urges to pick her up and take her somewhere safe where I could lock her up forever. She was strong and powerful but seeing her in potential harm was overwhelming. I did not want to feel that way again.

"Why do you let her fight then?" I growled.

He chuckled while Willow glared at me.

"He doesn't 'let' me do anything" Willow snarled but Devon stopped her.

"Dad and I have tried to stop her but it never works. It's just safer for her to have at it and have one of us as backup" he explained.

"Plus, she's the pack's top fighter" he added and we all looked at him in surprise.

"Here's the car" Devon motioned to the large black car at the bottom of the steps in front of the school.

"We'll see you at the party tonight" he tried but I didn't follow the others.

"My father said that we have a meeting with your family" I said.

Devon shook his head.

"Our dad canceled that due to the attack. He said that we will meet later this week" Devon replied.

"I need to go with her and we need to discuss some things" I stated and stepped towards Willow.

Devon looked at her and she shrugged. Both their eyes blanked for a moment and I knew that they were mind linking each other and possibly their father.

"Dad said that he can fit in a quick meeting. He's going to get your father now" Devon finally informed me.

'I'll meet you at the Alpha's house.' Dad said in my head.

'There's some new information' I replied to my father as we got in Devon's car.

Devon opened the passenger's door for me but I insisted on sitting in the back with Willow. After we got in, I linked back with Dad and told him about my mate's wolf, power, speed and what was said about our pack. He growled when he heard the last part.

'We will figure this all out, son. Don't worry.' he replied and then cut the link.

I sighed and turned to look at my beautiful mate. After a few minutes, she became annoyed.

"Why are you staring?" she demanded.

"'Cause you're gorgeous" I smiled and reached over to brush a hair out of her face.

"Don't be weird" she snapped but I caught the blush that she tried to turn away to hide.

"Oh, man" I groaned and she looked back at me with a questioning glance.

"You're even hotter when you blush" I smirked and she glared as she blushed again.

"Here we are" Devon announced loudly as we pulled up to a house.

I surveyed the home. It wasn't huge but it was nice. It had a big flower garden on one side and a veggie garden on the other. The house was yellow with a red door. I couldn't help but smile at how cute it was. It wasn't like any other Alpha's house that I had ever seen. Most Alpha's favor huge, imposing structures. Even our house was more imposing than this and my Mom had designed most of ours.

Willow bounded out of the car before Devon or I could open the door for her. I growled but Devon just chuckled.

"Is she always like this?" I asked him.

"Yep. She will not be controlled or contained. Don't even try" he warned.

I looked in his eyes and could see that he loved his sister. I made a note to try to get on his good side. I didn't want a pissed off Alpha brother in law for the rest of my life.

"Our parents are waiting for us inside" he informed me.

I followed him into the house and found our parents already sitting at a large table in the dinning room.

"Where's Wils?" Devon asked.

"She went to change." her mother explained.

I looked at her and smiled when I saw that she looked like an older version of Willow. She turned to me.

"I'm Willow and Devon's mother, Luna Rose. You must be the Dean that I've heard so much about." she said and I shook her hand.

"It's a pleasure to meet you" I replied.

"Please sit down" she waved to an empty chair next to my mother and I sat down as Devon sat next to his father.

"Would anyone care for something to eat or drink?" Rose offered.

We all declined politely. We sat and looked at each other awkwardly for a moment.

"Willow is on her way down" Rose announced and the girl herself walked in a moment later.

I stood when she came in. She walked over to a chair and I hurried around the table to pull out her chair and help her sit. She sighed but didn't argue and sat. I went back to my chair but caught the thoughtful looks that the rest of her family gave me.

"I would like to clear up some things that have been brought to my attention recently." my dad began.

"I know that you have heard rumors that our pack allows or even encourages abuse of women, even our mates" he continued.

My mother gasped at this but Dad kept going.

"I want to assure you that nothing could be farther from the truth. We would never allow abuse in our pack of any kind. Especially not to our mates." he finished.

Alpha Henry nodded.

"I appreciate your statement but how are we to trust you? We've been hearing these rumors for years now. They had to have some truth in them. How do we know that you aren't lying just to take Willow from us, especially now that you know what she is" Alpha Henry didn't pull any punches and I saw my dad stiffen as I did.

My mother put her hand on his shoulder to calm him while I took a deep breath of my mates scent. I needed to get her family on my side, I reminded myself.

"Do we know what she is? I've never heard of a multicolor wolf before. My son said that he's never seen that kind of speed or power before either" Dad asked.

At this, Luna Rose had her turn to calm Alpha Henry while Devon glared at us.

"It doesn't matter what she is. You aren't taking her" Devon snarled.

My parents looked shocked but I jumped up.

"She's my mate. I can't and I won't leave her" I snapped back.

Devon and I growled at each other.

"ENOUGH!" Willow roared and everyone was silent.

"I am right here and it is my choice. As for your questions, Alpha Lex, we have done much research and found that there have been a few multicolored wolves in the past. I am the only one that is known to exist now. As I age, I will grow more and more powers. I need to stay hidden because I will be targeted so I must asked that you keep my secret along with your Beta's family and the Alpha and Beta families of the Moonstone pack." she stated firmly.

"Of course we will keep your secret. I will speak with Alpha Al but I'm sure that he will agree as well. I'm sorry for my forward questions. I've never heard of someone like you and I'm intrigued." Dad smoothed everything over as I sat back down.

"I apologize for my son's outburst. He's extremely protective of Willow, we all are" Alpha Henry added.

"I apologize" Devon forced out.

"As far as the rumors, what can we do to prove to you that they are untrue?" Dad asked.

"I can promise you that they are. I have never been harmed by Lex. He wouldn't even think of it. None in our pack would. I have no idea where these rumors are coming from but they are unfounded. We don't even allow slaves in our pack. Your pack and ours are the only ones in the country that have outlawed slavery." My mother testified.

She was right. Every other pack keep slaves and most packs mistreated them. It was sad and disgusting what some of the packs would do to their 'slaves'. My grandfather had outlawed the practice and my father and I wholeheartedly agreed.

"Are you still planning on staying two weeks?" Luna Rose asked.

"If we are welcome" my father replied.

"Of course you are. Maybe in that time, we can grow to trust and understand each other. We can set up some guidelines as well if Willow does end up going with you." Luna Rose continued.

"Guidelines such as?" My mother asked.

"Like.... Willow would call us daily, at least for the first few weeks, she would be allowed to leave if she chooses. Things like that" Luna Rose suggested.

I'm shocked at the request.

"You honestly believe that I wouldn't allow my mate to call her family? That I would keep her against her will?" I asked. Luna Rose turned to me.

"You wouldn't believe the things that we've heard" she replied softly.

I was beginning to understand why her family was acting the way they were. I would do the same thing in their shoes, probably worse. I looked at my dad and he nodded.

"I agree with all you've suggested, Luna Rose" I answered.

Alpha Henry smiled.

"If that's all then..." he began but I stopped him.

"We still need to discuss, what was his name, Willow? Your human 'boyfriend'? Jake?" I said.

Everyone else at the table cringed as Willow glared at me.

"What about him?" she snapped.

"When are you breaking up with him?" I asked yet again.

"I think that this is something that you two should discuss privately" My mother suggested.

"I agree. Willow, take Dean to the living room" Luna Rose commanded.

Willow sighed but stood up. I quickly followed her through the kitchen and into the living room.

"So? Are you going to answer me?" I demand as she sat down on the couch.

"I don't know, okay? This is complicated. Jake is a nice guy and I don't want to hurt him" she began.

I growled at her words.

"So you'd rather hurt me? Your mate?" I snarled.

I looked at her as she stared at the floor. Suddenly, I was terrified.

"Are you going to reject me?" I asked.

She cringed but stayed silent and still wouldn't look at me. I dropped down in front of her and put my fingers under her chin. I forced her to look at me, thinking.

"I won't accepted it if you do." I said and her eyes widened.

"What?" she asked.

"I will never accept it if you try to reject me. My mother rejected my father but he wouldn't accept it." I explained.

She tried to look away but I didn't let go of her chin.

"Look at me." I said and she looked into my eyes.

"We are mates. We are meant to be together. I will not give you up" I sincerely promise.

I leaned in.

"Can I kiss you?" I whispered.

She looked like she was about to nod but stopped.

"I can't. I don't want to be a cheater" she whispered back.

I was frustrated but also loved how good and honest she was.

"Then break up with him and give me a chance. It's only fair. If I fuck up, then you can go back to him but you have to at least give me a chance" I plead.

She sighed and nodded.

"When?" I pressed and she shrugged.

"Tonight. Before the party?" I suggested and she nodded again.

POV Willow

I feel terrible about agreeing to break up with Jake but Dean is right. He deserved a chance and I'm finding it harder and harder to deny the mate pull. I didn't want to end up cheating on Jake. That wasn't who I wanted to be. Thankfully, Carla linked me then to let me know that she was in front of my house.

"Carla is here. We have to go get ready" I told Dean.

He nodded and kissed my head. We both stood up. I walked to the front door to let Carla in as he went back to our parents and Devon.
