SECOND CHANCE AT FOREVER

The last thing she saw as she lay down in a pool of her blood was the face of her husband with his arms around a strange woman. His gaze held disgust and so much hatred that she wondered how she never noticed it. Poison. She was poisoned. Lifting her hands weakly, she grasped the only gift he had ever given her. A deep sapphire encrusted ring in the shape of a flower. The edges dug into her palms as she felt the last of her life drifting away from her.

She had loved him even more than her own family, her friends, her own self. Setting her eyes on him had been her the start of her first obsession. She gave up everything for his love but only received hate.

"You brought this upon yourself" were the last words she heard, then her life was gone like a candle going out.

"Susan, come on we have to hurry"

"Huh" Susan jerked from her bed drenched with sweat, her eyes shaky as her gaze flitted all over the room. "Where am I?"

"Really?" the voice of someone familiar sounded in front of her, Kalia, her twin sister snorted at her, this was a shock because Kalia left her after she had insulted her thinking she was trying to sabotage her relationship. She rushed up from the bed and flung her hands around her sister, tears sprung to her eyes as she revelled in the scent and feel of her sister.

"Kalia, its so good to see you again" she whispered.

"Again? Susan are you alright? I mean you saw me like five hours ago".

"Five hours ago?" She questioned as she she stepped away from her. Shock mirrored in her eyes. "What's today's date?"

Kalia frowned at her but proceeded to answer. "Duh! Its 9th of September"

"What year"

"2019. Are you sure your'e okay"

"Yeah" she wheezed out, "let me just sit down a bit"

"'Kay. I'll let you be but grandpa is waiting okay"

Her head shot up in alarm, "Grandpa? Meeting?"

"Yeah, the meeting grandpa told us about" she waved her hands wildly, "Hello, the-choose-what-you-want-to-be meeting" with that she left.

Susan cradled her head in her hands as she processed what just happened. She had died, she knew she had died because she had felt extremely cold hands of death. So her being here again means only one thing, she had gone back time.

"I went back in time" she whispered, "I thought it only happened in movies and in books"

This was a blessing and a second chance to her. If she went back to 2019, she was 19 and about to enter college. It was also the time she decided to forfeit college for a modelling career. A sharp glint suddenly caught her eyes, it laid on her pillow just where she had woken up from, she gasped.

"It can't be" in her hand was the sapphire encrusted ring, looking as good as new. She remembered holding it in her hands as she was dying but why was it here with her? Was this a sign? A sign of what? Gently she squeezed it in her hands, the only gift she ever received from him, it had a special place in her heart. She kept the ring carefully in her drawer and stood up.

"The meeting...the meeting was when..." When grandpa had asked what she wanted to be. Kalia choose her lifelonf dream of going to study medicine, she wanted to be a doctor and went on to work in one of the biggest hospital but she had stupidly choose to be a model and also to be his wife.

"I won't make that same mistake again" she gritted out.

In no time she was dressed and ready.

"Ah finally, you have decided to grace us with your presence" as usual, Kalia was being dramatic making her smile.

"Hey grandpa, how are you?" She went to hug him, he smiled at her as he rubbed her head affectionately.

"Always great" Grandpa Jacob Grant was a seventy-five years old man with black hair flecked with gray, his face looked lively and the corners of his eyes had laugh lines.

"Alright, Susan, Kalia, I arranged this meeting because you guys are ready for college and I think its better you girls choose what you want to do in future.

"I would like to study medicine, I mean its all I've ever wanted anyway and I can be a sweet doctor when I need to be." Kalia smiled sweetly. Susan couldn't help but smile because that was the same thing Kalia had said in her last life.

"Great choice Kalia" he turned to her, his wise old grey eyes twinkled with interest as he turned to Susan."What about you Susan"

Susan's hands were clenched as she sat up straight, this was what she she wanted.

"I...I want to be...I want to be a Police Officer" she finally announced. Her sister and grandfather looked at her with wide eyes filled with shock.

"Are you sure?"

"Huh?"

"Susan, what's gotten into you?"

"I'm sure and trust me, I'm more than okay"

"Then what brought about this sudden decision?" Her grandpa asked.

"Is being a police offer a bad thing?" She asked innocently.

"No"

She smiled triumphantly. "Then I want to go to the Police academy and become a police officer so that I can serve my country"

Her grandfather looked at her for a minute, "You seem a bit different today"

Kalia snorted softly, "Ive been saying that since today also"

"Are you sure about this"

She nodded her head, "Yes grandpa, I'm sure"

"Then you will apply for the police academy immediately"

She smiled in appreciation.

"Hello everyone I'm home and I've brought a guest I'm sure someone will like"

A man's loud voice thundered in the big sitting room, the man was tall, huge and had shoulder length black hair, about mid forties but had a lively look around him. The man was Kalia and Susan's father, a single father of twins.

Susan immediately froze as she saw the person behind him.

"Good day everyone".
