CHAPTER ONE

SUSAN'S P.O.V

"You brought this upon yourself. I don't ever want to see you again."

The last thing I saw as my sight got blurry, was the face of my husband with his arms around a strange woman. His gaze held disgust and so much hatred that I wondered how I never noticed it.

"Why?...I only ever loved you...only you..."

were my whispered words before I let myself slip into unconsciousness.

***************************************

Loud, beeping noises pierced through my lucid state and made me pry my eyes open. I saw that I was in a white room, a hospital. My hand was linked to a syringe and something yellowish was being pumped into me. Why was I here? I thought I was going to die. I'm pretty sure Abel left me out there to die. Then why was I here? Alive, in a hospital bed.

"She's awake." A Female voice called out softly.

"Oh thank goodness." A male voice this time. "He has been waiting for her. I was shaking thinking she would'nt wake up."

"Me too. Let's call him?"

"Of course. Go, go."

I frowned, who were they going to call? That's not my concern right now. How am I going to pay for the hospital bills. I have no money, nothing.

"How are you doing now?" That same male voice asked, I forced my eyes to look up. It was a man in his late forties or fifties, if his graying hair is what I think it is. He was wearing a white coat, a doctor then.

"I..I'm fine." I replied slowly, my voice hoarse. "Water...please."

"Oh yes, forgive me." He hurriedly brought a bottle of water and dipped a straw in it. He helped me up as I sucked on the straw. Letting the water wet my parched throat.

"Thank you." I thanked him with a grateful nod.

He smiled, his dimples showing while his eyes narrowed beneath his glasses.

"You're welcome. You know, you're a lucky woman."

"Huh?"

"You were found almost dead, laying just beside his car. He was the one who brought you here." Then he blew a deep breath, one that said he was exhausted. "But he refused to let us rest until you were awake. Thank you for waking up."

I blinked multiple times, not knowing what to say.

"Um....you're welcome? But who is this person...that brought me here?" I asked him.

He opened his mouth about to answer when the door suddenly burst open, he and I both flinched at the same time.

"Sir!" The doctor exclaimed, darting his eyes to me before rushing to the man.

"Glad you're here. She woke up not long ago..."

"Leave us!" The man growled.

I frowned, even without seeing his face, I thought he was rude.

"Yes sir."

There was shuffling of feet and then the door closing. I heard light footsteps move towards me, someone sat beside me. I turned to look and gasped.

He was beautiful...no he was handsome and sexy and bad news. My husband, no ex husband had been handsome, not as handsome as this one but he had been handsome. But look at me now, whatever this guy wanted from me, I'm not giving him.

He stared at me with an impassive look in his blue eyes, his long, shoulder length, black hair was tied up in a man bun. He had a large build, wide shoulders and narrow waist from what I was seeing. And his face, I can't describe faces since I'm not a pro but I can tell you that he should have been a model. Damn! No Susan. Still bad new.

"Ahem!" I cleared my throat, watching him from beneath my lashes. "Thanks for saving me."

He opened his mouth but I stopped him.

"Though you wasted your time, because I don't have any money to pay you back. Hell, you should have just left me for dead. I'm better off that way." I muttered.

He closed his mouth and stared at me, his eyes not moving, they were scary.

"Are you going to say something, Mr?"

Or is he shocked that I don't have the money to pay him back? Well, he should have thought about that before bringing me here. I didn't tell him to save me.

"I don't need your money."

"Whattt?" My voice sounded weak because his voice came out sounding like a growl, you know the kind of growl you hear in audio books and movies that make you clench your legs. "What did you say?" I asked again, in a normal voice.

"I said I don't need your money. I wasn't thinking of that when I brought you here."

Why was he frowning, he looked like he had eaten something bitter.

"Okay. That's a relief. Then if you don't mind, I will be on my way." I made to stand.

"You can't leave."

"Say what now?" I reared my head back, giving him a side eye. Was he rearing for a fight? I'm in a sore spot right now and I don't care if he looks like a greek god and like someone you only see once in a blue moon because I will let him have it if he tries me. That's of course after I've eaten. I'm hungry.

He crossed his muscled arms over his chest.

"You can't leave. You have nowhere to go."

I glared at him.

"How do you know? Forget it, I can think of something."

He shook his head and leaned back. "Sit down."

I wanted to argue back at him, but his face had this cold look that said he didn't give a fuck. And do I say back down.

"What do you want?"

"I have a proposition for you and if you do that, I'll make sure you have a roof over your head and meals, free of charge."

"Hmmm." He got me there, I have no house and I'm starving. With a side eye glance at him, I crossed my arms across my chest.

"Go on."

"Marry me!".
