KAELION POV
There had to be another way. There was no way I was going to get married to Claire, the cousin of my dead mate. “I will find a way to get this pack together, I am not picking a Luna until I am ready to,” I stated firmly, standing up and walking out. I could hear Jackson calling out to me as I made my way to the car but I continued to walk. I was too angry. “You have to give this some thought, Kaelion,” Jackson said, catching up to me. “You know Claire’s parent come from the lineage of one of the most powerful Alphas this pack has ever had, this alliance could be good for you.” “No, Jackson. I am not doing this,” I muttered, opening the door to the car. “How do you intend to fix the problems in the pack then? Most of the pack members are beginning to lose their trust in you,” Jackson said. “Is there really no other way than to do this?” I asked. “You could have proved to them that you still remembered their loss by bringing Alpha Thane’s head to them,” Jackson responded. “I can not do that,” I muttered, recalling my promise to Seliora. Jackson gave me a disappointing look then got into the car. This was supposed to be a good day. A day where I let go of the past and try to move on. Taking a deep breath, I walked into the car and stared at the window as the driver drove off. Jackson didn't say a word throughout the ride and neither did I. A few minutes later, we got back to the pack house. I thought to speak to Jackson but he stormed out of the car and hurried into the house the minute the car stopped. I got out of the car slowly and made my way towards the house. “Kaelion,” A voice that I instantly recognised to be Claire called out to me. I stood for a moment before turning back to look at her. I had no idea what to say to her. “I am really sorry they all convinced you to be the Luna, Claire,” I said, as she walked up to me. “I am going to fix this.” “I am not doing this because they asked me to, Kaelion,” She replied to my surprise. “I want to do this, I want to get married to you. I have been trying to confess my feelings for the longest time.” I watched in awe as Claire continued to speak. “I do not know what to say to you, Claire,” I mumbled. Claire was there for me during Misha’s death but I had never seen her as more than a friend and a pack member. “I am sorry but I can not do this. It's never going to happen,” I said, turning my back and making for the living room. I needed a drink. Claire followed behind me. “I am not going to change my mind, Claire,” I said, looking back towards her. “Maybe this is going to help change your mind,” She muttered, moving closer to me and placing her lips on mine. I froze in shock. “No,” I muttered, gently gripping her arms and pulling her away from me. I then turned away from her only to see Seliora right at my back. She had seen what had happened. “I need to talk about my father,” She demanded with a straight face. “We can talk in my office,” I responded, walking away with her. “Have you found him yet?” She asked as we entered the office. “No,” I answered. Jackson had still not given me any update which means he was nowhere to be found. “Where have your men looked?” She asked. “Are you even looking at all because you are clearly busy with something else?” “About what you saw, Seliora. She kissed me,” I said, in a loud tone. Seliora didn't look like she cared yet I felt like I owed her an explanation. “It's none of my business,” She muttered. “All I care about is my father and finding out what this big conspiracy is all about.” As she spoke, I realised this was the time to tell her I was done with trying to find answers. “I don't want to know, Seliora. I am no longer interested in finding answers. You can leave now, I am letting you go,” I said. “What happens to my father?” She asked. “I am going to help you find him like I promised,” I stated. “I am going nowhere, Kaelion. Did you really think you could just take me from my home forcefully and return me at your own convenience,” She barked, angrily. Her eyes had reddened. “This was what you wanted. To go back to your family,” I said. “You brought me here against my will and I have questions. I am not leaving until I get the answers I need and my father is found,” She said. “What I refuse and have my men send you back to your house?” I asked, staring her in the eyes. She let out a smile. “You have not forgotten, I still have the kysnite stone right? “You are going to kill me with it,” I muttered. “No but I am going to take what you love from you, your pack!” She replied. “You are going to find why my father was taken and you will rescue him then find the one who planned this conspiracy.” “Are you threatening me, Seliora?” I asked. “Yes I am,” She answered. “And if you think you can find the kysnite stone and take it from me, you have no idea what I am capable of.” “You are treading a dangerous path, Seliora. You will be dead the second anyone knows you have that stone,” I muttered, trying to reason with her. “It's your job to make sure no one finds out I have it then,” She replied, storming out of my office.SELIORA POVI was furious.Furious at myself, furious at the situation. How dare he decide to stop looking for answers just when my father got taken?I should have known he was a selfish brat who also did things that only favoured him. He does not care whether my father was taken or not and will not search for him. That stone was the only leverage I had against him now. I was willing to use it to get whatever I wanted from him.I would love to go back home and see my mother and Thlaric but there was nothing that could help. No pack, no resources, only a house burnt to the ground.Kaelion had all the resources I had to look for my father. There was no way I was going to allow him to send me back to nothing. Not right now.Seeing him kiss Claire didn't come as a surprise. It only made me see the reality of things.I was so stupid to develop feelings for him. We will only ever remain enemies, nothing more.As I continued to make my way into my room, I ran into Claire who had a huge smile
KAELION POVThere had to be another way. There was no way I was going to get married to Claire, the cousin of my dead mate.“I will find a way to get this pack together, I am not picking a Luna until I am ready to,” I stated firmly, standing up and walking out.I could hear Jackson calling out to me as I made my way to the car but I continued to walk.I was too angry.“You have to give this some thought, Kaelion,” Jackson said, catching up to me. “You know Claire’s parent come from the lineage of one of the most powerful Alphas this pack has ever had, this alliance could be good for you.”“No, Jackson. KAELION POVMaybe it was time to let this go.To let go of finding out why Misha was killed. “You have to attend the council meeting by ten, go get some more rest,” Jackson said, before finally walking away.Since Misha died, I have not been a good Alpha to my pack. All I had been consumed in was wiping out the Ember fang pack and finding out why Alpha Thane killed Misha. On the day of the attack, I had planned to ask Alpha Thane before killing him. I had no idea he was not going to be home. After so many months I spent preparing for an attack on his pack, it made me so mad that I missed out on a single small detail like that.“I forgot about the meeting,” I muttered to myself, walking into the room.Spending time with Seliora had started to distract me. Jackson was right, I needed to make a quick decision about what to do with her.It was seven O’clock in the morning. I still had about three hours till the meeting.I sat down on my office chair and stared out of the window blankly.
KAELION POVSomething had changed. Her body language, her tone, and the way she could not look me straight in the eyes. It was all so obvious. The last time I saw her this way was when I took her brother Thlaric captive and had her surrender to me.“Wait up,” I said, watching her walk into the woods but she kept walking without looking back. “You are going the wrong way.”This made her stop and look back at me.“I know you hate me for what I did to your pack, but I am only asking that we work together without fighting,” I stated. “It is only until you go back to your family.”“Fine,” She responded. “I have rules too.”“I am all ears,” I said, moving closer to her.“You let me keep the stone for my safety until we are done,” She said. “Two, you do not question me, we do this way.”“Okay,” I answered. Her plans seemed to have worked so far, It would not hurt to give her a chance.“It's this way,” I muttered going the opposite way from where she was earlier headed. “The other way leads t
SELIORA POVThis side of Kaelion was soft and completely different. It always made me question whether he was the same person I saw in the ballroom on the day he attacked my pack.“I should get some sleep,” I muttered, turning towards the other side, away from him.The only thing that mattered to me was getting my father out of wherever he was and going back to my mother and Thlaric.I closed my eyes but I found it hard to sleep. All I could hear only the sound of the rain pattering against the roof. After a few more minutes of just lying down, I decided to get up and go sit outside for a while. I slowly removed the blanket over my body so as not to alert Kaelion and stood from the bed.“Where are you going?” Kaelion asked, startling me.I assumed he would already be asleep.“I need some air, I am going to sit outside for a while,” I responded, looking back at him. “I am coming with you,” He stated, standing up and picking up the blanket. “You should not be alone out there.”He wal
SELIORA POVRex was dead and Zack had escaped. All in one night. All that I could get the answers I so desperately wanted were gone.Kaelion was crashing out and instructing all the guards to make sure to find Zack and bring him back to the pack while I just stared at him in silence. After getting tired of listening to Kaelion instruct his guards, I walked out of the hospital and went into my room.I then locked the door and walked over the window. I opened it up and smiled at the moon which was now at its peak.Changing into my wolf form was the only way I could release the tension of the night.I soon felt my claws emerging and my senses heightened, just seconds later, I had turned.I let out a howl then launched myself out of the window. I then ran out of the pack gate which was open and began to run through the woods.Full moons were always my favourite.I made sure to avoid the obsidian pack members and stay as far away from them as possible. They were a pack while I was a lone w
