KAELION POV
Maybe it was time to let this go. To let go of finding out why Misha was killed. “You have to attend the council meeting by ten, go get some more rest,” Jackson said, before finally walking away. Since Misha died, I have not been a good Alpha to my pack. All I had been consumed in was wiping out the Ember fang pack and finding out why Alpha Thane killed Misha. On the day of the attack, I had planned to ask Alpha Thane before killing him. I had no idea he was not going to be home. After so many months I spent preparing for an attack on his pack, it made me so mad that I missed out on a single small detail like that. “I forgot about the meeting,” I muttered to myself, walking into the room. Spending time with Seliora had started to distract me. Jackson was right, I needed to make a quick decision about what to do with her. It was seven O’clock in the morning. I still had about three hours till the meeting. I sat down on my office chair and stared out of the window blankly. I knew it was almost impossible to get the kysnite stone back from Seliora especially since I had promised to let her keep it for her safety. “She has to go,” I said to myself, making a decision. “It's the only way.” After I met with the council members, I was going to inform her that she could leave and go to her family. That way, she would give back the Kysnite stone. Feeling good about the solution I had done up with, I looked over to my table and started to go through some files about the pack which I had left unattended for so long. It was finally time for me to move on and put it all behind me. All I wanted to focus on now was being a good Alpha to my pack. Finding out what really happened to Misha would only cause me more pain. I checked through the files and after about an hour and thirty minutes, l left the office and went into my room to get ready for the meeting. I kept my dressing a bit casual, I wore a pair of brown pants and a cream t-shirt. After I was done, I sprayed my favourite perfume and made my way to the dining table. Jackson was already seated and was almost done with his meal by the time I got there. “You were right,” I said, sitting down right next to him. “I know what to do to make this all right.” “I am sorry if I reminded you of Misha, I just needed you to understand what I was saying,” Jackson said. “It's why you are my Beta, Jackson. You did the right thing,” I muttered, serving myself. Afterwards, we ate in silence and headed for the meeting after we finished our meal. “I am going to start painting again,” I whispered to Jackson as we walked into the car. “I want you to set me up with some art gallery owner, I would like to exhibit my paintings.” “Misha tried so hard to get you to do this,” Jackson said with a smile. “Are you really letting all of this go?. “I just want to keep the pack out of harm’s way. We have lost enough people,” I replied to him. The drive to the meeting venue felt good, for the first time in so long, I was thinking about something else other than revenge. After a while, the car came to a halt. Jackson and I walked out and then made our way into the hall. As we entered, the council members bowed their heads. “Sit!” I stated, making my way towards the chair which was right across from them. “We have something important to discuss with you today Alpha Kaelion,” One of the council members announced as I sat down. From his tone, I could tell it was serious. “Speak,” I demanded. “I am afraid we have had to make a decision concerning the pack, things have not been the same since the attack on us. The pack member still lives in fear,” Another of the pack council members said. “I am well aware of the way they feel,” I responded. “It's worse especially after Lexi and Rex's death,” He added. They all looked at each other while I wondered where the conversation was going. “You have to pick a Luna, Alpha,” Elder Damon stated. “We think this is going to ensure the pack stability.” “I am doing no such thing,” I calmly refused. “I am afraid you have to, Kaelion. This is the best decision and we have also picked out the best member of the pack who would be the Luna,” Elder Damon stated. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Not only were they making me get married, but they had already picked out someone for me behind my back. I looked towards Jackson who was standing by my side. “Did you know about this?” “I had no idea,” He answered in a low tone. “I also do not think it is such a bad idea, Kaelion.” Of course, Jackson was in support of this nonsense. “We have decided you should marry Claire,” Elder Tom one of the oldest members of the pack said in a loud tone. “Claire,” I muttered in surprise. “What makes you think she would agree to this bizarre arrangement?” “We have spoken to her about this, Kaelion. She wants to,” Elder Damon said while I looked on in surprise. They had all of it planned out. “This marriage is going to unite our pack. You need to understand that it is your duty as the Alpha of the Obsidian pack to do everything within your power to keep this pack together,” Elder Tom said. “It is time to prove your loyalty and do the right thing.”SELIORA POVI was furious.Furious at myself, furious at the situation. How dare he decide to stop looking for answers just when my father got taken?I should have known he was a selfish brat who also did things that only favoured him. He does not care whether my father was taken or not and will not search for him. That stone was the only leverage I had against him now. I was willing to use it to get whatever I wanted from him.I would love to go back home and see my mother and Thlaric but there was nothing that could help. No pack, no resources, only a house burnt to the ground.Kaelion had all the resources I had to look for my father. There was no way I was going to allow him to send me back to nothing. Not right now.Seeing him kiss Claire didn't come as a surprise. It only made me see the reality of things.I was so stupid to develop feelings for him. We will only ever remain enemies, nothing more.As I continued to make my way into my room, I ran into Claire who had a huge smile
KAELION POVThere had to be another way. There was no way I was going to get married to Claire, the cousin of my dead mate.“I will find a way to get this pack together, I am not picking a Luna until I am ready to,” I stated firmly, standing up and walking out.I could hear Jackson calling out to me as I made my way to the car but I continued to walk.I was too angry.“You have to give this some thought, Kaelion,” Jackson said, catching up to me. “You know Claire’s parent come from the lineage of one of the most powerful Alphas this pack has ever had, this alliance could be good for you.”“No, Jackson. I am not doing this,” I muttered, opening the door to the car.“How do you intend to fix the problems in the pack then? Most of the pack members are beginning to lose their trust in you,” Jackson said.“Is there really no other way than to do this?” I asked. “You could have proved to them that you still remembered their loss by bringing Alpha Thane’s head to them,” Jackson responded.“

KAELION POVSomething had changed. Her body language, her tone, and the way she could not look me straight in the eyes. It was all so obvious. The last time I saw her this way was when I took her brother Thlaric captive and had her surrender to me.“Wait up,” I said, watching her walk into the woods but she kept walking without looking back. “You are going the wrong way.”This made her stop and look back at me.“I know you hate me for what I did to your pack, but I am only asking that we work together without fighting,” I stated. “It is only until you go back to your family.”“Fine,” She responded. “I have rules too.”“I am all ears,” I said, moving closer to her.“You let me keep the stone for my safety until we are done,” She said. “Two, you do not question me, we do this way.”“Okay,” I answered. Her plans seemed to have worked so far, It would not hurt to give her a chance.“It's this way,” I muttered going the opposite way from where she was earlier headed. “The other way leads t
SELIORA POVThis side of Kaelion was soft and completely different. It always made me question whether he was the same person I saw in the ballroom on the day he attacked my pack.“I should get some sleep,” I muttered, turning towards the other side, away from him.The only thing that mattered to me was getting my father out of wherever he was and going back to my mother and Thlaric.I closed my eyes but I found it hard to sleep. All I could hear only the sound of the rain pattering against the roof. After a few more minutes of just lying down, I decided to get up and go sit outside for a while. I slowly removed the blanket over my body so as not to alert Kaelion and stood from the bed.“Where are you going?” Kaelion asked, startling me.I assumed he would already be asleep.“I need some air, I am going to sit outside for a while,” I responded, looking back at him. “I am coming with you,” He stated, standing up and picking up the blanket. “You should not be alone out there.”He wal
SELIORA POVRex was dead and Zack had escaped. All in one night. All that I could get the answers I so desperately wanted were gone.Kaelion was crashing out and instructing all the guards to make sure to find Zack and bring him back to the pack while I just stared at him in silence. After getting tired of listening to Kaelion instruct his guards, I walked out of the hospital and went into my room.I then locked the door and walked over the window. I opened it up and smiled at the moon which was now at its peak.Changing into my wolf form was the only way I could release the tension of the night.I soon felt my claws emerging and my senses heightened, just seconds later, I had turned.I let out a howl then launched myself out of the window. I then ran out of the pack gate which was open and began to run through the woods.Full moons were always my favourite.I made sure to avoid the obsidian pack members and stay as far away from them as possible. They were a pack while I was a lone w
