Chapter 20

SELIORA POV

I had no regrets about what had earlier happened with Claire. I only saw an opportunity and decided to use it to my advantage.

Claire’s action took me a bit by surprise though, she looked so innocent but now I knew exactly who she was.

Her coming to see me was all a trick to provoke me which I fell for.

“I know you don't trust me, I don't trust you either but it's really simple. I would have killed her way before you even intervened if I wanted to,” I said, looking at Kaelion.

He said nothing afterwards and only walked away quietly while I wondered why he came to the cell in the place.

“It probably makes him so happy to see me here,” I muttered, lying down on the blanket one of the guards had earlier given to me.

This was my second night being taken captive under Kaelion’s pack and I still have not been able to make any significant progress.

All my plans seemed to have either failed or backfired.

“Fuck!” I stated angrily, standing up.

Lying down was not helping, it only made me feel more frustrated and helpless.

Trying to calm myself down, I paced around the cell while running my hands through my hair. Claire’s face kept flashing in my mind and for some moments, I wished I had killed her.

“She is a part of his precious pack after all,” I whispered to myself angrily hitting my legs against the wall.

Some minutes later, I managed to calm down by reminding myself that I needed to keep calm for my plan to work.

“Be patient, Seliora,” I said to myself, lying back down on the ground. “You will get your chance.”

I then closed my eyes and soon drifted off to sleep.

The sound of the door to the cell opening woke me up from sleep. Looking up, my eyes met with one of the guards who stared at me with a straight face.

“You are free to go,” He declared.

“Was I not supposed to be here for twenty-four hours?” I asked out of curiosity since it was barely ten hours.

“The Alpha decided to let you go,” The guard responded.

“Kaelion,”’ I muttered, recalling how upset he was with me the previous night.

I stood up and walked out of the cell but was certain he wanted something from me. There was no way he changed his mind in a few hours without any reason.

The morning sun warmed my skin as I walked out of the cell building, I felt good and better for some reason.

Maybe it was because I was able to take out a bit of my frustration by fighting with Claure the previous night.

“What am I going to do with that bitch,” I thought to myself walking into the house.

She was going to be against me now but I didn't need that kind of distraction, Kaelion was the only thing I needed to focus on at the moment.

I started to devise ways to get rid of Claire in my head but snapped out of it after sighting Kaelion in the living room sitting on one of the chairs with his legs crossed.

He was dressed up in a black tuxedo which meant he had somewhere to be.

“To what do I owe this kindness, Alpha Kaelion,” I uttered in a loud tone.

“You should be thanking me,” He responded. “I only let you out because the pack doctor needs to check up on you.”

“Oh, I guess I owe you my life then,” I said in a sarcastic tone.

“You stay away from Claire and my pack members, I went easy on you this time but I promise I am going to kill you with my bare hands if this happens again,” He threatened, standing up and walking towards me.

I loved the way he looked charming and how the fabric hugged his broad shoulders but instantly snapped out of it.

“You can’t run from him,” My wolf chimed in.

“No,” I whispered, looking away from him. “If you think Claire is telling the truth and I did attack her first then you are not as smart as I think you were.”

“I trust Claire,” He stated with confidence, walking away from me. “We will continue this when I get back.”

“I hope you never come back,” I replied to him in a loud tone.

“Not going to happen,” He responded back almost immediately.

Taking a deep breath, I started to walk towards the room. I needed to take a warm shower after spending the night in the cold.

I reached for the door handle to my room when an idea occurred to me.

Since Kaelion was out of that house, I knew Jackson was going to be with him.

“His office,” I muttered.

If I could get into Kaelion's office, there might be something in there that would help me.

A phone, maybe even some information, just anything.

“This could get me in a lot of trouble,” I thought to myself, contemplating the idea but decided to go through with it.

I slowly made my way towards Kaelion's office while trying to avoid the guards and the maids.

I managed to reach the door and swiftly reached for the handle but it was locked.

“Fuck!” I exclaimed, looking around to see if anyone was coming before taking off my earrings.

Luckily, they were long straight earrings which I have had on since the mating ball. In less than a minute, I opened the door and slid inside the room.

Picking locks was one of my many talents.

I decided to start by searching the drawer and immediately started to look through it.

After a minute of searching, I started to get frustrated. Almost all of the drawers were empty.

Just as I was about to give up, I sighted an old box by the side and knelt to search through it when suddenly, I heard the door handle turn.
