I had a heavy feeling in my gut as I ran Leon's doorbell. I didn't know what I was about to walk into and how he was going to be. I was glad he wanted to see me but I wasn't sure how talkative he would be. It was late, I stayed with nan while she ate and helped her get into bed. I got into work about an hour early. It was awful to get ready and go to work as Leon couldn't do that this morning. He stayed in bed as I got ready but promised me he would get showered. I walked through the double doors, the officer at reception smiling at me. His dark hair pushed back. "Can I help?" He asked. I had my office uniform on, the classic dark polo shirt. "Hi, is DC Duggan about? I need to speak to him," I said, my hand on the desk. "He is, can I ask what case it's referring to?" He smiled at me. "Oh, no just tell him it's his sister," I chuckled. The officer smiled, picking up his phone. He spoke into it for a few moments before turning back to me. "Go straight ahead, he's in the main office." "Thanks." The officer buzzed me in and I walked straight for the huge office in front of me. I could see Ryan already, standing up and chatting with a colleague. As I walked through he looked up at me. I had got an early dinner on the way home and I was excited to see Leon. I worried about him with me being at work and at least I could keep a proper eye on him. I held my breath as he answered the door and I smiled. He definitely looked better and he closed the door behind me, kissing my cheek. "You alright?" He asked, taking the food off me. "Yeah, you?" I was in my formal uniform, at the police conduct office. Me and Stuart had signed in and stood in the waiting area. I was nearly biting my hand off, my heart smashing against my chest. I looked up at Stuart and he turned to me. "He didn't do this, Lex. We both know that." I nodded, feeling better at his words. "I know," I whispered. I was sitting outside Leon's house, after my interview I went to nans to quickly check in with her. She was okay, not as good as I would have liked but once she ate I decided I was going to wait for Leon. I had been here about half an hour, still in my formal uniform, sitting on his doorstep. I didn't know if this was the right thing to do but I couldn't just go home, my phone vibrated in my pocket and I opened my text, it was from Ryan. Ryan: 'Just spoke to dad, he wants to see you. Now.' I groaned and stood up. It was barely three o'clock and I didn't know if I should wait for Leon and tell him or leave now and come here after. I slumped on my office chair, it was getting more and more depressing coming into work without Leon. He wasn't doing great either, he might say my whole life was around the police but his was as well. When you spend ninety percent of your time at work it's hard for it to suddenly stop. It was Leon’s first day back in the office and I couldn’t be more excited. I was really trying to play it down, but I made him a coffee which sat on his desk as I looked at the time.
