Chapter 044

CECILIA

I kept walking.

Darcy fell into step beside me and the silence between us was the loaded kind, the kind that had words in it that had not been released yet.

"I am fine," I said before she could open her mouth.

"I did not say anything."

"You were about to."

She pressed her lips together and walked.

After a moment she took a breath and I cut across it.

"Darcy. I am fine. If I want to tell you something I will tell you. Do not push me and do not be sensitive about it."

I am fine. If I want to tell you something I will tell you. Do not push me and do not be sensitive about it."She stopped walking.I stopped too and turned. Her face was steady but her jaw was tight. "I am not being sensitive. But I am also not going to be spoken to like that." She met my eyes directly. "If you do not want to tell me then fine. But do not be harsh with me for caring. I am not one of the pack members you need to intimidate."I looked at her.She was right and I knew it and she knew that I knew it.I turned and kept walking. "Come on. We are going to be late."She came. We walked the rest of the

  • HER ARRANGED MARRIAGE    Wrong smell

Chapter 043CeciliaI woke up first the next morning. Soft light filtered through the curtains of our room. I blinked and looked around, realizing we were back in bed. Memories from the garden last night flooded in — his hands, his mouth, the way I had moaned his name without shame. I bit down hard on my finger to stop myself from smiling like an idiot. How did we even end up back here? I remembered pieces of him carrying me, my legs wrapped around him, both of us laughing and kissing as we made our way inside.I turned my head. Cassian lay beside me, his hair falling messily over his face. He looked peaceful, completely relaxed in sleep. I shifted closer and gently brushed the strands away from his eyes with my fingertip. His face was calm, almost boyish without that usual cocky smirk.I chuckled softly and rested my head on my hand, just watching him. No doubt about it, he was ridiculously handsome. My eyes drifted lower to his bare chest and the sheet that barely covered his

  • HER ARRANGED MARRIAGE    Needs and Passion

Chapter 042CECILIACassian stepped closer, eyes locked on mine with that dark, hungry look that always made my knees weak. He cupped my breasts in both large hands, squeezing them gently before lowering his mouth. The moment his tongue ran lightly over one nipple I gasped sharply. He circled it slowly, teasing, until it tightened and puckered hard under the wet heat. Then he drew it deep into his mouth and suckled.“Oh… Cassian,” I moaned, the sound slipping out before I could stop it.Pleasure shot straight down to my core. My stomach tightened and my back arched towards him. He moved to the other breast, licking and sucking with the same slow intensity until my breath came in short, shallow gasps and I was gripping his shoulders tightly. He was so good with his tongue. I had thought letting this happen again might be a bad idea, but he kept proving me wrong every single time. I felt stupid trying to keep myself away from him. And I'm just realizing, I needed it. I needed him. H

  • HER ARRANGED MARRIAGE    Little fire

Chapter 041CASSIANShe was running really fast. I knew I would not stand a chance if I stayed at my normal pace, so I added speed and chased her down the long corridor. Her laughter echoed off the walls as she glanced back at me, eyes bright with challenge. She turned sharply and cut towards the garden doors. I knew once she got in there among the trees and paths, catching her would not be easy. I pushed harder, legs pumping, heart already racing for an entirely different reason now.Just as her feet touched the grass of the garden I caught her around the waist. She burst out laughing, loud and free, the sound hitting me straight in the chest. I spun her around and kissed her hard. She kissed me back without hesitation, hands fisting in my shirt, body pressing into mine like she had been waiting for this exact moment.“I caught you,” I said against her mouth, breathing heavy. She smiled, cheeks flushed. “You did. So do anything you want. I won’t stop you.”The words sent heat rus

Chapter 040CASSIANI was mid swing when I heard the footsteps. It's fast and urgent. The kind that meant something had gone wrong somewhere.I lowered the sword and turned.Grey came around the corner at a full run, chest heaving, sweat on his face, looking like a man who had covered the entire packhouse in one go."Alpha."I set the sword against the post. "Why are you panting like that?"He bent forward with his hands on his knees. "I have been searching for you everywhere." He straightened. "I was running.""I can see that. What is the problem?""The council of elders." He caught his breath properly. "They have stormed the throne room. All of them. They are angry and they are saying something about revoking your Alpha position."I stared at him."That is not possible. They would not do that.""Stop telling me what they cannot do." He turned back toward the packhouse already. "Come and rectify this before it gets worse."I grabbed my shirt and followed.I heard them before I opened

  • HER ARRANGED MARRIAGE    Father

Chapter 039CECILIAI could not move.He was walking toward me across the courtyard with that easy unhurried stride I had known my whole life and I was standing there completely rooted with my shawl still wrapped around my hands staring at him like he had appeared from nowhere. He reached me and pulled me into a hug before I could say a word.He was warm and smelled like the Greenville packhouse and home and all the things I had been pushing to the back of my mind since the day I left.He pulled back and held me at arm's length and looked at me."You look good." His eyes moved over my face. "And pale at the same time.""What are you doing here?" I pulled free. "Who did you leave the pack with?"He raised both eyebrows. "That is how you greet your father. Weeks apart and that is the first thing out of your mouth.""I do not care about that. Who is overseeing the pack?"He laughed. The deep easy laugh that had always meant he found me genuinely funny even when he was pretending not to.
