One of the things I despise the most is being rejected.

My mother was rejected by my father thirty years ago. My father hated her so much because she wasn’t the woman he desires to have as his mate. He rejected her but yet still kept her in the dark and tortured her. My mother was disrespected by many men and women in the pack.

It’s common in the pack that any woman who has been rejected in the blood moon pack must be mocked.

And as if that wasn’t enough, he mated with her and that’s how I was born into this cruel world.

My father died during the war between the blood moon pack and the red moon pack. He's an omega. He was killed by Demoni thana, the alpha of the red moon pack when he had tried to challenge him. He was beheaded to death and burnt to aches.

Legends said Demoni Thana is one of the strongest and powerful werewolves in their time. And since then, the red moon pack has been ruling over all the packs.

To be sincere, I was so excited when I heard the announcement about the death of my father but sad when my mother died due to the bond she has with my father.

Nevertheless, I have learnt the hard way, to become strong and fearless.

I am Jessica Brianna, daughter of John Halsey and Haley Halsey, an omega. My parents are late, they died four years ago.

And today is the mating ball; it’s a custom for unmated wolves between the age of 18-21 or maybe more who haven’t found their mate to meet their mate.

It is said that everyone in the pack is meant to attend so everyone can come together to find their mate.

Was I happy about it? No!

I never wanted a mate after what my mother had passed through years ago in the claws of my father. Nevertheless it is the duty of the moon goddess to offer mate to every one of us when we are of age.

So much for being a werewolf.

I filled my pot with water as I watched the ladies passing by in a group giggling among each other.

I was alone, I have no friends, no one by my side because I am an omega. No one would ever love to be friends with a low graded person like me.

I sigh and lift my water pot up before I place it on my head.

The worst part of it all is that my wolf is silent. I tried communicating with her since she’s the only one I have now, but I got no response from her. I was lucky no one has ever noticed because I am like a ghost in the middle of thousands.

I might not even attend the ceremony, but I have to, because it was an order and not not an invitation.

I strode into my cottage I called home, it was rough, dusty and grimy . No matter how many times I clean it, it will always end up messy.

I entered the bathroom, took off my clothes and had my bath.

The ceremony is tonight, so I have a lot of time to hunt for food and rest before then because as an omega, I wasn't allowed to eat in the pack as it was my daily duty to hunt for my own food.

I have done my morning duties and now is time for me to eat and rest.

I came out of the bathroom and wore my casual wear; a long red gown.

I came out of my cottage and saw some unfamiliar faces, riding on their horse as they approached the pack.

The blood moon pack is one of the smallest packs in the werewolf existence and I wondered why this pack was picked for the ceremony.

“Your highness”. I bowed my head to acknowledge his presence and greeted when he approached closer but as usual, he ignored my presence and rode his horse into the pack without sparing me a glance. I wasn't bothered by his ignorance, instead I was concerned by the rumbling sound coming out of my hungry stomach.

I ran into the woods and fetched for bush fruit to fill my stomach that was grumbling so loud. I found some that had fallen on the ground and picked them up before I sat on a strong fallen tree branch. “Oh moon goddess, if I’m to die any time soon, better kill me now”. I gaze up to the sky that’s getting darker as I whispered in my heart. I couldn't see the full moon setting out as the tall trees have dominated my view.

I heard the sound of a wolf howl, coming out from the pack and I quickly jerk up. It was time for the ceremony. How could I ever forget.

I ran as fast I could to my cottage and changed into a white dress. I am not dressing to impress anyone or look attractive either but atleast I have to look nice since today is the mating ceremony right.

I brushed my hair using my hands so it won’t look messy.

There is no need staring at the mirror because I know I’m ugly. Yes! According to the people existing in this pack, I am known to be one of the ugliest girls in the pack, this is also one of the reasons why people ignore my presence.

I came out of my cottage and kept on strolling till I arrived at the hall that was already occupied. It was a ball, so the ladies were putting on long dresses while the men were putting on black suits and they were all looking stunning. The ladies were looking beautiful and glamorous as ever but staring at me, one could tell that my mate would reject me once he set his eyes on me.

The hall looks beautiful with a little twinkling lights of decorations pasted around the walls.

“You don’t have to look bad, you look ugly girl”. Some group of girls passing by mocked me and laughed.

I ignored them since this wasn’t the first time I’ve gotten such a compliment.

I could see some of the men and women dancing slowly to the tune of the music as they waited for Lord Lucifer's arrival.

Lord Lucifer Demi thana, is the son of the late ruler,Demoni thana. Demoni thana ruled for a hundred years before he died and his son took over.

According to what I’ve heard severally, Lord Lucifer is more dangerous and dominant than his father. He is one of the strongest and most attractive lycan. No one dares to look him in the eyes or challenge him as it was also one of the rules to punish anyone who dares.

He has rejected his mate millions of times and the moon goddess kept on offering him more chances by giving him another mate each year of this occasion,but seems his so arrogant, ruthless and fearless, he kept on repeating the same mistake.

I pray I won’t end up as his mate because I won’t accept him. Apart from that, I know the moon goddess is not foolish enough to mate me with the most attractive alpha in the werewolf existence. I am definitely not his type neither his grade.

I haven’t set my eyes on him but I know much about him.

Well, speaking of the devil.

The wolf positioned themselves in the horizon and howled, signifying his arrival.

The whole place was crowded and I was standing in the middle of the crowd so I was unable to see.

They hovered around him as I huddled behind the crowd to avoid myself from been pushed.

The place was lousy and the ladies were gasping for air.

I couldn't stand all these noises, so I waited for the crowd to follow his lead into the settlement hall, where the main occasion was to begin.
