Chapter 18: The weather

The alarm bell rang so loudly that it made Jewel jolt from her sleep. Jewel opened her eyes and everything looked the same. There was no minty scent that lasted in Micah's mouth around her and he was not present himself. It could not have been a dream she tried to believe. She ran her hands through the bedsheets with hope of touching Micah or something similar to him but the emptiness of her bed brought much disappointment to her. It couldn't be true she thought to her self. She ran to the mirror in her room. It had quite a poor refractive index and rough edges. She felt embarrassed when ever she looked it but it was what she could afford for the time being with hopes that things would get better. There had been kisses and teeth marks on her neck or so she thought. She raised her hair that had grown weak and lighter coloured over time due to poor nutrition to search with hope for scars but there was non. She broke down in front of the mirror sobbing bitterly.
