LOGINAdrian’s POV
I stepped outside the mansion and took a deep breath and the cold night air filled my lungs. The party music sounded distant now.
I loosened my tie slightly and murmured “Finally escape?”
When I turned, I saw Isabella standing in the doorway with a teasing smile.
She said with her teasing tone “You left me alone in there.”
I shrugged lightly and said with an embarrassing voice “You know I don’t like too many people.”
She walked closer and wrapped her slender hand around my neck and said “You survived meeting my father though.”
I laughed softly and said “Barely.”
She looked amused with my reply and said “You looked pretty calm.”
I gave her an awkward smile and said “I was trying very hard.”
She bumped my shoulder playfully and said “You don’t need to be scared of him.”
I didn’t answer. Instead I looked toward the tall mansion behind her. Guards stood near the gate. All cars lined the driveway.
I said with a thoughtful expression “Your father is very powerful.”
She grinned and said proudly “The most powerful.”
I nodded slowly.
Before I could say more, a guard approached us and said to Isabella “Miss Falcone.”
She looked at the guard and answered with a bored expression “Yes?”
He continued “Boss would like to speak with Mr. Vale.”
Isabella groaned “Already?”
The guard nodded.
I straightened and asked “Where?”
He looked at me and answered me with a straight face, “Study room.”
Isabella looked apologetic and said with her concerned voice “Don’t worry. He just likes to scare people.”
I gave her a reassuring smile and said with confidence “I’ll survive.”
The guard led me back inside. The mansion felt quieter now. Our footsteps echoed in the hallway. We stopped in front of a large wooden door. The guard knocked once.
A voice spoke from inside “Come in.”
I stepped inside. The room smelled faintly of leather and whiskey. Bookshelves covered the walls. And Victor Falcone stood near a large desk. His jacket was off now and his sleeves rolled slightly. And he looked less formal but somehow more dangerous.
His eyes lifted to me and commanded “Sit.”
I obeyed. The chair felt too big. He poured two glasses of whiskey and placed one in front of me. But I didn’t touch it.
He noticed and asked with a mocking tone “You don’t drink?”
I answered immidiately “Not much.”
He took a slow sip. Silence filled the room. And I waited patiently.
After sometime I heard his voice “What do you want from my daughter?”
The question was simple but the tone was sharp.
I met his gaze and said honestly “I love her.”
His eyes didn’t change and murmured that word “Love.”
He said the word like it was unfamiliar.
I kept my voice calm and said “Yes.”
He leaned slightly against the desk and said “You are poor.”
The words were direct. Although it’s true, it still hurts.
I nodded once and said “Yes.”
He continued, “You have no power.”
I nodded again and replied “Yes.”
Because this was the truth. I knew, I was a poor student. And I fall in love with the untouchable man's daughter. But I never thought about her money. For me she was the kindest girl, who saved me at that time.
He looked at me with his judging gaze and he continued “You cannot protect her.”
My fingers tightened slightly on my knee but my voice stayed steady and said with a farm voice “I can take care of her.”
He watched me closely and said with a mocking voice “Care is not enough in my world.”
I remained silent. He walked slowly around the desk and his steps were quiet. He stopped beside my chair. The distance between us is too close. For some unknown reason my heartbeat rapidly began.
But before I could say anything he said “You should leave her.”
I looked up at him and said with a determined tone “No.”
His eyebrow lifted slightly and asked “You refuse?”
I stood up slowly and said “Yes.”
For a moment neither of us moved. He studied my face for sometime, looking for fear or weakness or anything. But I didn’t step back. Before coming to talk to him I already guessed that he didn’t like me and he would warn me. But I was prepared for it.
I kept my voice respectful and said “I understand you want to protect her.”
He said nothing and I continued, “But I won’t leave her.”
I will make sure my future father in law accepts me. Isabella loved her father and his blessing was important to her and I will do anything to get his blessing.
For some moment the atmosphere was silent and heavy.
He finally spoke with a mocking tone “You are brave.”
I shook my head and said “Just honest.”
There was another long pause.
He stepped back and said “Very well.”
I waited for sometime, waited for him to insult me or threaten me or even punch me but he didn’t do that. He just looked at me for some time. If I said I didn’t feel anything at that moment, it would be a lie. I felt something fear or respect, I didn't know.
After sometime he said “You may go.”
I nodded politely and greeted “Good night, sir.”
Before he replied, I turned and walked toward the door.
When my hand touched the handle, I heard his cold voice again, “Mr. Vale.”
I stopped and turned toward him and asked “Yes?”
His voice was calm, almost curious, “Let us see how long that courage lasts.”
I didn’t respond. I simply opened the door and walked out. But my heart was beating faster. I knew something had just started, something dangerous. But I knew one thing, I would do anything to prove myself to my future father in law. And I will make sure, he would only accept me.
Adrian POVI stared at Victor and asked with a shocking voice “My father knew Matteo Falcone?”He didn't answer immediately, he stood near the study door with his coat already in his hand and he said with an unreadable expression “Yes.”The single word made my chest tighten. What the hell! How could my father know the mafia? My father died when I was born. I didn't have any bond with my father but Mother said he was an honest man then how could he know Matteo Falcone?I looked at him and asked “How?”Victor answered “That’s what we're going to find out.”I followed him out of the study and said “Boss, wait.”He stopped and I caught up with him and said “You said my father's documents were found in my apartment.”He nodded and said “Yes.”I asked “Who found them?”He murmured “My men.”I narrowed my eyes and asked with gritted teeth “Why were they looking through my things?”Like seriously, I thought after so many times we spent together, you at least believed me but I guess I was wrong
Adrian POVMrs. Falcone’s words stayed in my head “They’ve already voted.”I stared at her, unable to understand what I had just heard. Then I asked with a confused voice “Voted for what?”Her eyes softened, and she said in a polite voice, “For your death.”Hearing it, my stomach dropped. How could she say something like that with a polite voice like it's not a very serious matter! For a few seconds, I couldn't move and the study suddenly felt smaller. The bookshelves, the dark wooden desk, the photographs on the walls everything seemed to close in around me.Luca stepped forward and said with hesitation “Mrs. Falcone, what are you doing here? Boss doesn't like it when you come here.”She looked at him calmly and said with a smiling face “He deserves to know.”I finally found my voice and asked “Who?”Mrs. Falcone didn't answer immediately. Instead, she walked toward the desk and placed one hand on the edge and said “Not everyone in the Falcone family wants you dead, Adrian.”Well, I w
Adrian POVThe words echoed through the room "Tell Victor Falcone, his own family wants Adrian dead."For a second, no one moved. When I looked at Victor, his expression didn't change and that was the frightening part. His face remained perfectly calm, but something dark settled behind his eyes.Luca broke the silence first "The sniper refused to say anything else."Victor buttoned his jacket over the fresh bandage on his shoulder and asked with a cold voice "Where is he?"Luca replied "In the basement."Victor asked again in his cold voice "Alive?"Luca said with hesitation "Barely."Victor nodded once and said "Good."Then he walked toward the door and I stepped in front of him and said with determination "I'm coming."His eyes met mine and he said with gritted teeth "No."I insisted "I'm involved now."He argued "That's exactly why you're staying here."I folded my arms and murmured "You keep saying that."He continued "And you keep ignoring me."I said with gritted teeth "Because l
Adrian POVThe sound of shattering glass echoed through the penthouse and Victor's arm tightened around my waist as he pulled me behind the couch. The impact knocked the air from my lungs and my heart pounded so hard I could barely hear anything else.Victor kept one arm firmly around me while reaching inside his jacket with his other hand and a black gun appeared in his hand and his entire expression changed, it became cold and deadly. He barked "Luca!" Luca was already moving and crouched beside the broken window, staying below the frame and he said in a panicked voice "Sniper attack!" Victor nodded once and said in a cold voice "I know."Another loud crack split the air and the second bullet punched through the wall above us and pieces of plaster scattered across the floor.I instinctively ducked lower and Victor immediately pulled me closer against his chest and said in a concerned voice "Stay down."I murmured with a panicked voice "I'm trying."I looked up at him and asked with
Adrian POVLuca’s voice was still in my ear “Isabella’s missing.”The words hit the room like a gunshot and Victor’s entire expression changed instantly, every trace of emotion disappeared behind his cold face.He asked with his cold voice “When?” Luca stepped farther into the penthouse and said with hesitation “About an hour ago.”Victor grabbed his coat and asked with an angry voice “Who was with her?”Luca replied nervously “One driver and two guards.”Victor narrowed his eyes and asked “And?”Luca hesitated for some time then said “The guards are unconscious.”The room became silent instantly.I watched Victor carefully, his movements stayed calm but I could see the tension in his shoulders. His reaction was not from anger but fear because no matter what happened between them, Isabella was still his daughter.Victor looked toward me briefly and ordered “Stay here.”What the hell! Who did he think I was?I frowned and said with determination “I’m coming.”He said firmly “No.”I ins
Adrian POVThe words stayed in the air like a bomb nobody wanted to touch “But apparently your taste in men didn’t.”I glanced at Victor and saw that his expression was colder than I had ever seen it.Valentina leaned casually against the counter, completely relaxed, while the atmosphere around us turned sharp enough to cut skin.Victor said calmly “It ended years ago.” Valentina said with a soft smile “Yes, but you never looked at me the way you look at him.”My chest tightened instantly. I didn't know why I listened to their conversation. But I couldn't move.Victor’s gaze darkened and he warned her with an angry voice “Valentina!”But she only laughed quietly and said “What? You think I can’t see it?”Well, I don't know what they are talking about and I have no interest in being part of their conversation.I stepped back slightly and said with hesitation “This conversation feels like something I shouldn’t be part of.”Valentina replied before Victor could speak “You definitely sho

Adrian’s POVThe music was too loud. I stood near the balcony door, holding a glass of juice I hadn’t touched. People moved around me in expensive clothes.
