MasukAya's POV
“So, what exactly should I do once we get there?” I sighed and merely accepted my fate. As what Lily said, this might be the last time I’ll ever see Johanis. Since the man seems to have no plans on making amends with me. Rightfully so..
“Just make the young master see you and regret that he still ignores you like a child.” Beta Rio chuckled while Lily groaned, rolled her eyes and lightly punched Beta Rio’s arm. She actually made an effort to move forward to do so, since we are both seated at the back. “You shouldn't be here! This should be an all girls’ bonding moment for gossip!”
“Uhh, then who will drive us? I absolutely cannot drive.” I looked at her and she beamed, “Why, me, of course!”
“Aren't you like.. sixteen? If my memory still serves me well.”
“Hey!!! Johanis and I learned how to drive when I was eleven and he was sixteen! Those were the early days where we looked everywhere—”
Beta Rio faked a cough and Lily blinked a couple of times before changing topic. “Anyway! He was so jealous of me because I learned earlier than him! Hani protested a couple of times but I always sneak out to practice.”
Beta Rio shook his head while smirking. “That was why Johanis was left with no choice but to accompany this little gremlin..”
I merely listened to them talk since I can't contribute to any memories.. because maybe the ones where I’m in it stings for them to talk about..
They went on for a couple of minutes until they suddenly grew quiet. Lily suddenly rested her head on my shoulder. I supported her head with my hand and tapped it a few times to comfort her.
“She missed you so much. They both do.” Beta Rio suddenly had this serious and sad tone as he looked ahead, still driving.
“I do, too.”
“Just.. please don't give up on him.” He looked at the rearview mirror to probably take a peek at my reaction. I glanced at him and.. “I’ll.. I’ll try. But really it is up to Johanis.”
I wanted to say that I was willing to give up everything and stay here in Woodhill to be with him, but thankfully, I stopped myself. Actually, if Johanis and I talked.. like, really talked, and he forgave me, I would not leave anymore. But he seems to be so mad and he literally looked like my presence is annoying him. Which is why I just wanted to go back home for now..
Beta Rio just smiled and continued driving.
Three hours later and I can already see the trees changing into towering walls. One that I think only high level Alphas could jump across. Although, maybe some of these walls are protected with some ruins.
Beta Rio stopped in front of this massive gate with a sign that says ‘Woodhill University’. It was golden and majestic, with a hint of ancient vibes since this is one of the oldest universities across the whole wolf domain.
Lily grumbled about eating some apple pie in her dreams and as much as it pains me to wake her up, I still did so. Beta Rio took all of our luggages and placed it outside. He opened the door for us and Lily started complaining. “Next time, I’ll tell mom to let me drive!”
“Good luck with that young mistress.”
Beta Rio leaped to the driver's seat and fled before Lily could object once more. “Why that.. that! That Beta!! I swear I always feel like I have two little brothers when they are years older than me!” Lily grunted and took one glance at her suitcases before yelling.. “Hey! How about my luggages!”
But Beta Rio already left. I giggled and she glared. I put my hands up to surrender and said, “I’ll help you with the third one.”
She instantly lit up and hugged me. “Bestest sister-in-law ever!"
I flinched. “I’m.. I’m not your brother’s mate. I don't even have a wolf.”
She just smiled at me. “I won't accept any other woman to be Hani’s mate, Aya.”
That made me feel proud and giddy.. but as I said to Beta Rio, at the end of the day it is still Joha’s choice.
Once we finally placed our stuff at a luggage counter (since we don't have time to put it in our dorms), Lily and I practically sprinted our heart out for twenty minutes straight.
While running, I asked her why she was allowed to check in at that luggage counter, because only university students could stay at the dorms. And she actually said that she's in her first year! I gaped at her to see if she's kidding but she's not.. At the same time, that makes a lot of sense since Lily is actually smart. One might even call her a genius.
We arrived at the entrance of the field and there were three girls.
Lily and I both groaned at the same time. We glanced at each other and laughed because we kinda know where this goes.
And boy we were right.
“Oops. Tickets please?” Said the one who looks like their leader.
The second one rolled her eyes while judging us. “Please. They are obviously only here for either Johanis or Eros.”
“Hey! Every player of both teams is handsome!” Said the third one.
“Can we go inside now? The game started a while ago!” Lily snapped and that surprised them.
“You aren't allowed here child.”
Lily tilted her head and looked at them from head to toe. She even had this mean girl look on her face. “You don't know me?”
“Please. You are literally a kid. Only university students are allowed to watch the game.”
“Uhh, we are actually officially enrolled here.” I showed them my schedule and bump Lily. She tsked before showing hers too. Then something happened that made me want to rip their faces.
They laughed at us.
I don't even care if they laugh at me, but at Lily?
I was about to throw hands but Lily beat me into it. She emitted some pheromones that made the girls freeze. “H-hey kid!”
“You really are getting on my nerves.. First, I’m not a kid. So please, move aside before I call someone and possibly expel you right now..”
“Huh! As if you can do that!”
“Do not test me..”
Someone, a guy with an ice hockey uniform, noticed the commotion and immediately stepped in. “Liliana! You are late!”
“L-liliana?!” They gasped. Lily smirked at them before deliberately bumped into them. We passed by the three girls who looked like they had either seen a ghost or killed someone that they shouldn't have.
“How come they know your name but not how you look?” I asked.
The guy who called Lily answered. “Lily spent her lower years of school at other cities and universities. This is her first time here and my first time seeing you, gorgeous.” He winked at me and I only could gape.
Lily snickered. “Easy Ryan. You don't want your captain to snap your pretty delicate neck.”
Ryan gasped. Overdramatically so, as he even went as far as covering his mouth with his two hands. “S-she’s.. she’s..”
“Yep!” Lily emphasized popping the ‘p’ before taking a seat. We are located at the front row.
FRONT ROW!?!
And now, the screams and people fighting over the ice puck bombarded my head. “W-wait.. is it okay for us–”
“He might not look like it but Ryan’s the vice captain! That reminds me, why the heck aren't you at the rink?”
“For some reason, captain could even take on them alone.”
“Ah. Right.” Lily shook her head as she scanned the game.
“But.. a while ago before I left, he seemed to be arguing with his wolf. Even went as far as having a headache or something.”
“Hmmm. That is odd.” Lily pondered and watched the game as her eyes followed one person. I was about to ask again about me sitting here but I saw Johanis..
Woah…
He looked so damn hot in his ice hockey uniform. His jersey’s number’s 6 and I wonder why on earth it is 6? But damn..
The way his broad shoulders flexed as he skated gracefully with the stick in his hand. He scored a goal and everyone cheered. Johanis skated with so much ease as he fist bumped with his teammates and that made him look more handsome than he ever was.
He was about to turn his head in our direction and before he did, I immediately crouched down and hid myself. Lily grunted and pulled me right up, but thankfully.. Johanis already got his head back in the game.
“Aya!!!” She pouted. I fiddled with my hands and said, “I should go. Or at least sit at the very veryyy back.”
This is dangerous.
Johanis Martin in an ice hockey uniform is so fucking dangerous. It is either I’d passed out here or jumped inside to skate with him. Or even run barefooted just to see him up close.
Before Lily could make a fuss, Johanis passed by again as he was about to score once more.
But then he saw me and..
AND HE FREAKING JUST SIMPLY STOPPED MOVING.
Aya's POV“How??” I cannot help but ask him.Eros didn’t answer right away. And that— That silence? It made something cold crawl up my spine.Because he wasn’t struggling to find the words. He was deciding how much to say.. and that is much more dangerous. My eyes narrowed slightly. “…How do you know that?”The wind around him shifted. Not violently. Not sharply. But… knowingly.Like it was listening to the question too.Eros exhaled slowly, running a hand through his hair in a way that felt oddly… familiar. My chest tightened before I could even understand why.“I heard it,” he said.“Heard what?” I pressed.“The wind carries things, Aya,” he replied quietly. “Voices. Whispers. Pain.”My stomach dropped.“And yours…” His gaze lifted back to me, steady now. “Yours was loud enough to reach me.”Something in my chest twisted hard. Because that didn’t feel like a coincidence.“…doesn’t explain everything,” I said, my voice lower now. Sharper. “You’re talking like you understand what’s ha
Aya's POVThe forest went quiet. Not the usual kind of quiet—the one filled with whispers just beneath the surface, the one that breathed and watched and waited. This one was different.Wrong. Not to mention, it is weird for this damned forest to be quiet..But the moment it happened, I felt it.A shift, subtle and sharp. Like a breath being held too long.My brows furrowed slightly as I straightened, the roots at my feet tightening instinctively in response to the change. The glow beneath my skin flickered—not weakening, not fading.. But reacting.“…What now,” I muttered under my breath. No answer came. That alone was enough to set something uneasy curling in my chest.Because the forest always answered. Even when it mocked. Even when it twisted every word I said into something else.It never.. just paused. The air stirred faintly. Not the heavy, suffocating movement I had grown used to, but something lighter. My head lifted slightly.Wind.I stilled. Because that.. That didn’t belon
Johanis' POVThe queen touched his face, tears shining in her eyes.. “I told them not to tell you.”“I know.”Her lips trembled. “I did it to save you.”Alaric’s jaw tightened. “And do you have any idea what it did to us?”She closed her eyes. Pain crossed her face so openly that even I felt it. “I know..”“No,” Alaric said, voice rough. “You don’t.”The guards shifted uncomfortably around them, but none interrupted. Because this wasn’t just a reunion. This was years of pain finally breaking open.“I raised our daughter alone,” Alaric said. The queen’s tears spilled over. “I know, my love..”“I searched for you for years.”“I know.”His voice cracked then, anger and grief colliding. “She needed you, Elora.”That seemed to hit harder than anything else. She went still. And when she spoke again, her voice broke. “I know…”Alaric pulled away just enough to look at her. Then he said the words that turned the air cold. “She’s dying.”Elora froze. The color drained from her face so fast it
Johanis' POVI stared through the portal. The air drifting from the gate was cool and sweet, carrying scents I couldn’t even name—flowers, frost, something bright and clean like snow under moonlight. It felt unreal. It felt like looking into a dream. And somewhere in that impossible world, my mate's mother lived.Alaric stepped toward the portal. But the king raised a hand. “Wait.”Alaric stopped, visibly forcing himself not to lash out. The king’s face had gone pale. “The gate will take us to the Frost Court.”The queen looked through the opening, her expression solemn. “The Ice Queen rules there.”I peered at them, then at Alaric. And slowly the realization hit.Slowly..Then all at once.I turned my head at the queen. “You mean Aya’s mother is not just some fairy—”The queen looked at me. “She is the Fairy Queen.”I whipped my head towards Alaric. His face went completely still.“A queen?” I said.No one answered. Because they didn’t need to. The answer was written all over their f
Johanis' POVNo one moved after the king spoke.“To take you to her.”The words seemed to settle over the throne room like falling snow—silent, cold, impossible to ignore. I looked at Alaric. For the first time since I had met him, he looked shaken. Not visibly—not in the obvious way most people would notice. His posture was still straight, his face still composed, his expression still carved into that same calm, unreadable mask. But something in his eyes shifted.Years.Years of searching.Years of anger.Years of not knowing. And now—Now the answer stood in front of him..The queen descended the crystal dais slowly, her face pale, her expression caught somewhere between guilt and urgency.“There is no time to waste,” she said quietly.Alaric’s voice was low and sharp. “Then stop speaking in riddles.”The king gave a slow nod and motioned for the guards to step back. They obeyed instantly, lowering their weapons and retreating to the edges of the room. The king stepped down from th
Johanis' POVI barely had enough time to take in the sight of Cladbridge before steel flashed in front of my face. One second, I was staring at the crystal city spread out beyond the glowing gates—the bridges of ice, the towers lit with warm gold, the strange beauty of a place Aya had once called home. The next—Spears crossed in front of me.“Do not move.”The command rang sharp through the cold air. In an instant, at least a dozen guards surrounded us, appearing so quickly I hadn’t even seen where they came from. They wore silver armor edged with pale blue crystal that shimmered under the aurora-lit sky. Their helmets were carved into elegant, sharp designs, almost like frozen crowns. And every single weapon was aimed at me..I instinctively tensed, my body reacting before my mind caught up. My wolf stirred beneath my skin, not fully surfacing, but alert and ready. The guards formed a perfect circle around us.Not one gap.Not one opening. They were all fast and disciplined. And def
Aya’s POVDay one.And I already want to riot..Because apparently, being last year’s representative of the interschool tournament does not grant Woodhill University any glorious advantage.No..It grants them a handicap.A freaking handicap!!They are required to defeat three teams.Three!!!While
Aya's POV “Guess who?”My heart nearly launched out of my chest. I twisted instinctively, fingers already reaching for the wrist covering my eyes, I swore I went as far as getting ready to attack whoever this maybe…And then—“Omg! Uncle Taviii!” The voice shifted from playful whisper to full-volum
Johanis POVRyan always does when it matters. He pushes hard left, signaling Kael forward. They move fast—faster than before. No sloppy collisions this time. No accidental body checks. They’re coordinated now. Leon hangs back, reading lanes.I secretly smirked as it was really a smart move. Finn sh
Aya's POV I don’t remember closing my eyes. One moment I was listening to the steady rhythm of his breathing, feeling the weight of his head against my shoulder, the faint hum of the bond brushing against my senses like a quiet lullaby. The next—Complete darkness. A stillness but one that is comf
