I returned home at noon to pick some clothes for Alex only to meet a bunch of flower bouquet in my living.
"What is this Alice?" I asked the house keeper who'd come to greet me. Looking at the beautiful white lilies. They was my favorite flower.
"Ma'am it was sent earlier by an anonymous person. I kept it here because I thought sir Alex wanted to surprise you."I frowned, knowing very well that Alex wouldn't do something like this because he was in the hospital. Heaving a sigh, I dismissed her, "It's fine Alice, you can go,"
I said, making space for myself to seat beside the bouquet of flowers. Something told me these flowers were from the man I was trying so desperately to avoid. As the thought of him came to mind I packed the many bouquet of flowers though hesitant, I tossed them into the wastebin.
As I walked back to the living room, my phone beeped with a message from my personal assistant reminding me about a brand I had to model for at 7pm that evening. I heaved a sigh, thinking about Alex in the hospital. I'd have cleared my schedule for him in the past but why should I do so now? He had Kate to look after him. I quickly replied my assistant then I took an hour nap before packing food and clothes for Alex. As I stepped into our garage, I was stunned to see Jerry the mechanic waiting. He walked toward me the moment his gaze fell on me."Good evening Mrs.Coleman I'm here for monthly car servicing," he said and though it was a bit early for monthly servicing I nodded and didn't question him.
"Mrs.Coleman, I know this is your favorite car," he pointed at the black Ferrari purosangue parked alone on one side of the garage. "I'm done with that one, you can use it." I didn't think much as I strolled over to the car, pulling out the car key from my purse since I always had it with me just incase. I quickly hurled Alex's clothes and flask containing food into the backseat beforedriving away.
I sped down the road hoping to get to the hospital fast so I would have time to prepare for the evening's event. My phone started to ring and I connected the call to my car speaker before pressing the answer button. Father's voice boomed through the speaker immediately. "Ayanna come home tonight there's something I have to discuss with you," he ended the call right after leaving me curious. My mind making up different reasons why he wanted me back home. For a minute, I got distracted not noticing the incoming vehicle but loud honking pulled me back to reality at the last second and I whirled the car out of way trying to slam on the brakes yet the car didn't slow down instead it seem to increase speed. Oh God.My mind spiralled into chaos, unable to conjure any solution at that moment. Was I going to die?
With one hand holding onto the steering wheel, I sort for my phone, clicking on Alex's number at first before realizing he was still in the hospital and even if he wasn't, there was no guarantee he'd come for me. I couldn't call father either, he wasn't reliable. Olivia left town this morning for urgent family matter. Mother was sick I couldn't make her worry. I had no one but ... Rain Blackwell but then I'd deleted his number.
Running out of people to call wasn't my only problem, my phone battery was running low.
The only thing that could save me now was if I ran out of fuel but my fuel indicator showed an almost full tank. I was doomed. I thought Jerry said he serviced it unless...
Tears trickle down my eyes at the thought of dying. I didn't want to die. Not yet. I still had so much I wanted to do. I hadn't even freed mother from Father's clutch's yet. Oh God!
Besides myself, I was scared of hurting others so I steer the car off the main road to a path with a sign that said a lake ahead.
By the time my mind registered that I could call 911, my phone was dead. No charger. All odds were against me today.
As I drove down the path, I noticed there was no other way I could turn to. It's either I slammed hard into a mountain and died instantly or my car dove off the cliff a few meters ahead and went into the lake. Perhaps I could swim out then.
I held my breath the closer the car got toward the cliff. Mumbling a slient prayer that I survived this...
*** RAINThough it's being two days, my hands still trembled as I held on to Ayanna's hand. I'd never felt fear so potent like I did today and the other day when she'd almost been hit by a car. If I hadn't put someone in place to spy on her, she could've have died today.
When I got a call from one of my man, Flex that something was wrong with Ayanna's car, I'd quickly asked him to share location and trail after her. I got there just as her car toppled over the cliff.
The doctor said she was fine. But the shock of what happened to her kept her unconscious.
From what Flex shared with me after pulling Ayanna's car from the lake and running an investigation, her car had being tampered with. Someone clearly intended to have her killed and lord knows whatever thoughts I harbored towards that person wasn't something even the devil could muster.
"Boss, I found the mechanic who runs Ms.Ayanna's monthly car servicing. He claim's to know nothing about it."
My fist wrapped tightly around my phone it almost broke. Rage so raw filled me as I read the message. If monthly servicing was carried out on the car, there's no way something like this wouldn't be detected. The piece of shit was lying. And I certainly know many inhumane ways to get him to say the truth.
Perhaps it high time I returned to being the grim reaper like I was nickname before.
RAINmy expression changed the moment I arrived at grandfather's mansion. Though the dinner was supposed to be by 8.pm I came by 9.pm. purposely delaying to avoid much of the family drama. Heaving a sigh, I walked into the house. Their loud voices welcomed me even before I got to the dining hall."That arrogant brat, he has absolutely no regard for us his elders. Everyone was here by eight except him. If he can't even respect us now, what happens when he finally wears the crown," that high pitched annoying voice belonged to Vivian Blackwell, my second aunt. She was maniputive. Always looking for ways to remove me as the heir of the Blackwell family and give it to her son even though he wasn't a Blackwell."You do make a good point Vivian_ once I wear the crown as the head of the Blackwell family, the first thing I'll do is strip off your right to the Blackwell name. You're married now, you should take your husband's name, stop clinging to the Blackwell name so desperately. Secondly I
"Mr.Blackwell, it is said in your file that you have an unhealthy obsession with a married woman."She looked up for the file with a curious expression and I shrugged."It's not an unhealthy obsession. It's more like an intense obsession and love for her. I desire to claim her for myself, to protect her even if it means killing the bastard she calls her husband. I'd say the urge to kill him grows each day. I sometimes find myself fantasizing over it," I smiled sadistically as I spoke. Suddenly this therapy session didn't seem so absurd I now had someone to share my sinister intentions with. She observed me for a while, an unreadable expression on her face."I'd like it if you address me as Margaret, going forward. she finally broke the silence. "How about you tell me more about this woman, when and how did you meet her?"I thought back to the time I met Ayanna. You probably thought it was the night she approached me at the club. However Ayanna and I met long before that, I was probab
After I left the room I returned to the guest room where Ayanna was, kissed her forehead and lips before leaving....As soon as I walked into my living room, I found Mason sitting on the couch, he slowly glanced up at me, disapproval written all over his face. I get him, it was almost 4 a.m and I was just coming back home after visiting a lover."I'll schedule you an appointment with a therapist to help with your unhealthy obsession," Was all he said before sauntering off to his quarters.Heaving a sigh, I threw myself into the nearest couch. Could my obsession really be cured? Perhaps I should give it a try. I pushed the thought aside as I pulled the spare phone I bought recently from my pocket. It had a chip installed in it to make every call and text untraceable.I smiled sinisterly as I typed a message pressing send before closing my eyes to sleep.Morning came in a flash, I groaned as I stood up, the aroma of food filling the air. I checked the time on my phone, it was 7.am. ju
I gently removed his hand from my shoulder, heaving a sigh as I turn to face him. "Not tonight Alex, I had a long day but go take a quick shower and come, I'll put you to sleep."Reluctantly, he left and I breath a sigh of relief as I resumed drying my hair. By the time he came out of the bathroom I was in my pajamas sitting on the bed. As much as I wanted to sleep before he came, I couldn't bring myself to, not when he was after my life.I helped him dry his hair and helped him into his pajamas like I always do, then I pulled him to bed with me, making him rest his head on my thigh then I slowly massaged his head while humming a soft melody. I always did this. To him I was showing him affection, that may have been the case yet right now I was simply putting my enemy to sleep so I could sleep also. Once I heard his snores, I patted him several times to be sure he'd truly fallen asleep, carefully removing his head from my lap before leaving the room with my pillow. My phone beeped as
I stopped on my track, my heart beating in trepidation. She couldn't possibly know about my relationship with Rain Blackwell. Perhaps it was based on assumptions after Rain acted so familiar with me back there. That had to be it.Kate was just trying to rile me up so I'd fall right into her trap. But I was done been that dumb Ayanna. I was done been the woman she and Alex secretly laughed at.Calmly I whirled toward her, my lips curving upward into a mocking smile. "Is that so Kate Williams, are you trying to accuse me of cheating so that Alex would leave me for you... I'm not surprised, you like being a mistress after all." Kate stumbled back a step, shock written all over her features. "You..." She said, pointing at me however no other words came out of her mouth afterwards. She probably thought I knew she was cheating with Alex. However, I couldn't confirm her suspicion just yet.Slowly I stepped towards her like a predator. I clutch her chin tightly but not tight enough to bruis
My breath caught in my lungs as I turn toward the door, my gaze meeting his. What a coincidence? And what cruel game was fate playing with me.Rain Blackwell held my gaze for a while then his gaze moved to Alex. His expression suddenly darkened. The man who was with him was also familiar. He was the man who's car Olivia had wrecked. His gaze was fixed on Olivia and his expression grim. "Rain Blackwell, Aaron white," Kate beamed excitement in her tone. I noticed Alex clenched his fist but said nothing."Oh my God, we should invite them to join us," she was up before anyone could approve or object. The three of us watched as she went to Rain. He initially had a deep scowl on his face as she approached but after she said something to him, his gaze moved towards me and the corner of his lip lifted into a smirk."There's no way he'd agree to her request. He's too... Olivia was speaking but her words were cut short the moment Rain and his friend began to approach our table.Alex got on h
AYANNA I felt nervous after I got a reply from Rain Blackwell asking me to meet him outside the house. I draped a fur coat over my night dress and a fluffy fur slippers. Picking up my phone I look back at Mother who was still sleeping soundly before walking out of the room. I passed by Father's r
AYANNA Mother sat silently in a rocking chair staring into space absent-mindedly as she rocked herself back and forth. The book in her hand was almost falling off. She didn't even notice me standing behind her until I called out to her."Mother."Her head hastily whipped in my direction. Mother sh
Now this is something new and incredibly juicy. I studied Jeffrey's expression since I was good at reading people to see if he was lying but he seemed to be telling the truth. "If you're lying to me James... " It's Jerry boss," Flex corrected again and I swear to literal Jesus I was seconds away
AYANNA Slowly my eyes peeled open. The first thing that came into view was a white celling then beeping sound and smell of disinfectant and medicine which told me I was in a hospital. Why....The question seized as memories came flooding into my mind. My car brakes, I toppled over a Cliff. Yet I
