Blame

BLAME

“What do you mean by ‘what the hell’, Care? You are holding the diary right now,” Charlotte snapped.

“There’s nothing written in my diary. All my writings are gone. It’s gone. How’s that possible? Are we dealing with some devil?” Caroline babbled, pacing back and forth in the hall.

“Give it to me,” Charlotte snatched it. Her face became pale by seeing it. She believed in Care. Soon she flipped each page to find two written pages that remain the same.

“The day we killed Becca remains in this diary. All other things have vanished,” Charlotte threw the Diary to Care, acting like it’s some kind of poison.

“You are right. But there’s a message on the last page,” Caroline carefully opened it.

Finally, you noticed it. Phew. It’s good. I know everything has vanished and you don’t need to worry because everything will reappear, eventually. It's my secret trick. Now don’t think everything is over. You all need to do whatever I say. If you try to cheat me, you will face dire consequences. You all played with the wrong person. Once you started playing, you can’t stop it. Beware of me, I will be everywhere.

“The same person. Why should I do anything it says? I don’t care.” Charlotte folded her arms against her chest.

“You need to remember he’s still having Ruby’s phone,” Caleb warned.

“Cool. Now he knows everything. He’s playing with us. You know what, what if he’s the reason for Ruby’s death? He has her phone, he knows everything...” with the mention of Ruby’s name, Caleb’s getting more frustrated.

“End of discussion, sis,” Caleb growled at charlotte.

....

As usual, Charlotte walked to her violin class having a calm face to hide her stressed ones.

‘I think I came early. Whatever, Iam not in-home, she thought to herself, opening the violin case casually. When she took her violin, her case was scratched in some words.

BEWARE OF ME

- MW

These words are very clearly written. But till yesterday, she didn’t see anything like this. Like the mentioned words, there’s a small note beneath it.

Since you are the one who killed Becca, you are my first target. Do you ever wonder about Becca’s footage? Ruby took it but other students don’t know about that. Well, I know that. All you need to do is accuse someone by posing the video. Iam sure it will reach everyone in the high school. Everyone loves gossip, gossip is more important when the person is dead. It will be viral. If you can’t do it, within 24 hours I will accuse you. You don’t know me but I can do that. This is my first personal message to you, enjoy. By the way, I accidentally have broken a string in your violin.

-MW

Charlotte looked at her broken string. She didn’t think she will be the first target. She can’t simply accuse someone of the footage. Definitely not in the time when everyone is searching for Becca. Even Becca’s parents will come to know about this. She can’t risk it. But it didn’t. She will be in a problem.

‘I know what I have to do,’ Charlotte murmured, clutching her violin tightly.

After a final bell rang, Chloe walked to the restroom. The school is almost over, everyone has already headed back to their home. She’s standing alone in the restroom. In the silence, she can hear someone sobbing. It’s coming from one of the half-opened doors. She slowly approached it, caught a glimpse of the person.

“Tiffany,” Chloe muttered. Tiffany is leaning against the wall, crying so hard. Her eyes are red. She looked terrible with all her makeup spoiled from crying. Chloe doesn’t want to help her, as all she did was bad things. But in her heart, Chloe can never show hatred to any person

“Is anything there to share? I can help you,” Chloe softly approached her.

“No, just shut the door. I don’t need your help. Don’t act as innocent,” Tiffany insulted her even in a terrible state.

“Right. I will go,” Chloe whispered. All she thought of helping her. Chloe was halfway gone when Tiffany called her “Chloe, don’t go. Come back. Sorry” Tiffany apologized for the first time. Chloe stood in her path without turning back

“I thought you were being nice to me, even though you know what happened to me today. Well, I think you are unaware of it,”

“I don’t know anything. If you want, you can explain,” Chloe says

“Someone posted that Iam the reason behind Becca’s breakup. They are saying I used some other student help and planned everything in a cunning way to cause trouble to Becca. The news spread faster than I could blink. I was there with Becca, But I didn’t do that. No one is believing me. Everyone started avoiding me. They are telling me, that I am a backstabbing person. I will accept Iam so harsh to you and everyone, but I did nothing against Becca,” Tiffany explained with tears flowing in her eyes.

Each time when Chloe hears Becca’s name, she’s scared.

“I don’t know what are you trying to say. I am not aware of that. I didn’t hear any news like that.”

“Did you ever pay attention to gossip or make friends? Then how will you know that?” Tiffany spoke harshly and kept her hand over her mouth.

“Iam sorry again. I can’t control myself,” She added.

“I accept I don’t have many friends.” Chloe remembered that the whole day she had been silent and didn’t even go to Ian’s class to talk with him or Taylor. That’s why she knows nothing. All she can think about is Becca, her dead face, blood, and the gun.

“I know it’s hard to trust me. But Iam in a worst-case scenario. The detectives already knew that Iam the one Becca texted me before she has gone missing. Now they are suspecting me. They all thought I tried to spoil Becca’s life by exposing her secret. Now they think there’s a chance Iam behind this case. You are the only person who believes even Wes is ignoring me. I got nowhere to go. My parents are against me, all these things happened in a single day.” Tiffany cried and, in emotion, she ran and hugged Chloe tightly. She has never been a friend to Chloe. These things changed her attitude.

“Don’t cry. I know you wouldn’t have done this,” Chloe assured without hugging back. If Tiffany knows she’s behind Becca’s death, she will kill her.

“If Becca’s return, she will surely help me. Iam waiting for her arrival,” Tiiffany has some hope inside her.

“Do you know who did this?” Chloe changed the topic.

“Yes, I do. That’s why I have been angry with you earlier. Your sister Charlotte did this. I won’t call her a teacher or give her respect. She’s a terrible liar.”
