Tony Woods's POV

I could recall getting into a huge fight with my son because he kicked against my marriage to Angela.

He tried to make me understand that Angela never loved me, but I ignored him, saying he was drunk.

My ex-wife said the same thing. Unlike my son's advice, My ex-wife revealed how she had caught Angela flirting around the city with numerous guys.

Did I listen to her?

Of course not.

What did I do?

I called her a jealous fellow.

I accused her of trying to sabotage my marriage to Angela because I ended things with her.

Seven years later, the warnings from those who mattered to me are starting to haunt me.

Back then, I gave a thousand reasons I wanted to get married to Angela.

But today, I can't even speak up to save my life.

“What are you talking about, Marcus? Why would you ask me why I married Angela?” I sparked outrageously at Marcus.

I tried to act tough and pretend that what he said never mattered. But deep down, I cared the most.

I maintained a straight face to avoid showing my weakness.

“You just gotta see this,” Marcus passed the phone to me easily.

My hands shivered as I attempted to receive the phone from him.

I was this close to falling to the ground due to how clueless I was.

A while ago, I was yearning to see the message that popped on Sean's phone

But now, I don't even know what I want anymore.

I might as well be the most clueless person that ever lived.

Slowly, I summoned the courage to glance at the phone, and behold, what I read nearly plucked out my eye sockets.

“Angela wants you to murder Paul and Susan because she's scared that they might expose her to me?” I asked a shocking question.

I had to return the phone to Marcus. I couldn't trust them in my care anymore.

“Paul and Susan.

Who are they?

What are you talking about?”

Officer Patrick asked.

He was the only one who seemed lost among us.

He can't seem to have a clue who Paul and Susan are.

I let out a deep breath and faced the ground to hoard my shame.

The day hasn't ended yet, and I've been through a lot.

My ears have heard enough lately.

I feel like donating them to a charity organization.

“Paul is my nephew, while Susan is my son's wife.” I paused.

I couldn't get myself to speak further. Telling them how Angela tried to seduce Paul is like rubbing my face in the mud, and I wouldn't want that to happen.

I am yet to recover from the mess caused by Sean and Angela.

Telling them about the latest one would surely break me.

“You know what?

Just forget about it.

Take Sean to the station.

Ensure he confesses all his crimes.

.

I'm sure he's hiding more,” I told Officer Patrick with a faint tone.

I was gradually losing strength. I could collapse should I attend to spend another second outside.

I was about to leave for my car when Officer Patrick called me back and forced me to a halt.

I frowned as I turned in his direction. “What's it this time? Can't you see how exhausted I am? “

“I apologize for the stress, Mr. Woods.

What if Angela calls back? How do we handle the situation?” Officer Patrick asked.

His question made me more angry. He sounded like a novice.

That single act from him downplayed his last few hours of heroics.

Disappointed to hear him ask such a question, I sauntered to him.

He edged backward and made an upraised arm with the intention that I was going to hit him.

“You're a cop, aren't you? You fucking know what to do. Don't ask me silly questions,” I spoke in her face.

One more provocation from him and I'll spit in his face.

I walked back to the car and Marcus followed me.

He got inside the car rapidly before I had the intention of leaving.

I rested my head on the steering wheel and sobered like an agonized widow who lost all her late husband's wealth.

Hey," I felt a pat on the shoulder.

Without checking who it was, I already knew it was Marcus.

“You can't continue like this.

You need to fight back

You certainly can't let her win.

It's one thing to be let down, it's another thing to bounce back.

Think about it,”

Marcus said to me before walking out of the car.

He left me alone to navigate my way around.

I wasn't even paying attention to him.

I didn't bother asking for his return.

A few moments later, I heard the sound of a car departing the company's premises.

Like a certified loaner, I was left all alone on the company's premises.

If I wasn't the CEO, the security would step forward to walk me out for trespassing.

It was the longest I've stayed in the company.

And it turned out to be for the silliest reason even.

I had the impulse to check into a hotel or spend the night inside my car.

After everything I'd heard about Angela, I didn't envisage myself going home anymore.

Let alone, living in the same Mansion with Angela.

The thought of her poisoning me to death scared me.

Without any reasonable doubt, I knew death was inevitable.

However, what hurts the most Is getting killed by a familiar face, knowing that you could have done something to stop it

Where I was, I had completely lost it. A part of me left.

It turned out to be my confidence and self-awareness.

What I felt inside of me was emptiness.

I didn't see myself going back to winning ways anymore

While trying to find my balance, I heard my phone ring.

I ignored the call because I didn't want to speak to anyone.

The call kept coming in and curiosity took the best of me.

I wanted to know what time it was.

At the same time, I wasn't inclined to answer the phone.

Eventually, curiosity works.

With a slight glance, I checked the time and the call came in again.

My heart skipped when I discovered that the caller was Angela, the devil that had become the talk of the whole day.

When, lady, did you have your medication?' I yelled at Angela with the last strength inside of me. It wasn't my intention to yell at her in such a manner, but she pushed me to the wall, and I had no choice. “Oh? You are going to pretend like you don't know what I'm talking about? You try to play smart but unfortunately, you aren't,” Angela retaliated. I thought yelling at her was going to scare her a bit, but I was wrong. I didn't know where she got the strength from. I was lost, yet stunned by how Angela managed to pull up that defense mechanism. Coming from someone who has so many dirty secrets. If there's anyone who is entitled to be upset, clearly it should be me.Quietly, I sauntered to the wardrobe and selected my pajamas. Right in her presence, I wore it and grabbed my pillow. “Where the heck are you heading to r

Tony Woods's POV “Oh, no. Not again. What does this bitch want from me once more?” I hissed. I felt like smashing my phone to the ground, but I considered the important information I may lose should I attempt to do that. A thousand times she called, and not for once, did I respond. I dropped the phone on my lap and left the company's premises. I didn't know where the strength came from because a while ago, I had nothing left inside of me. I was already making plans to book an appointment with my doctor to have my body fully examined. A few miles away from my estate, my phone beeped. Unlike the previous time, it was a notification. I picked up the phone to check the notification only to see a text from Angela which says, “Your son is worried about you. Where have you been? He has been asking to see you,” Immediately, I pulled over. I didn't know when I started weeping like a toddler. It dawned on me that Kelly would feel most of the pain now. My hate towards the poor kid

Tony Woods's POV“Who's calling your phone at this hour? And don't you dare lie to me because I'm going to find out,” I challenged Sean. I didn't give him a chance to speak up first, knowing that he would lie. “It ain't my phone. Why are you probing me? You should check yours.Or don't you have yours? Besides, I'm not the only one seated in this car. I'm pretty sure the others have phones too. “ Sean responded in a placating tone. I didn't utter a word. I didn't retaliate for his rudeness towards me. It was just a matter of time before he spat in my face.I pretend not to hear him speak. I looked away. The moment I noticed he wasn't paying attention, I landed a punch on his chin. “That is what you get for lying to me.I might be closer to my old age, but certainly not a vegetable. I can't be messed with.” Since his hands were cuffed, I was confident that he wasn't going to retaliate with the heavy punch I threw at him. Like a kid who lost a family, he sobbed. I ignored

For crying out loud, it's getting late, and we haven't done anything significant,” Marcus told me, even when I warned him not to speak. He spoke so fast, as though he were under immense pressure. It was obvious that he couldn't keep the thought to himself for too long. What he said about me was rather degrading. Such an act could be capable of bringing out the best in me. But what was I supposed to do anyway? Absolutely nothing!I didn't pick any offense in what Marcus said about me, and neither did I retaliate that he used a harsh tone on me even when he shouldn't be doing that. Irrespective of how everything will play out, I always expected him to be on my side at all times. Inside of me, I knew he was right. I was doing the same thing I was kicked against a couple of minutes ago. I had a glance

Tony Woods's POV“Can someone please say something already? Don't fucking sit here and do nothing while I die in silence. Have you two known each other before?” I lost my cool and yelled at them. The silent treatment was beginning to mess with my head. They made it seem like I was insane when none of them responded to my question Marcus patted me on the shoulder, pleading for me to stay calm, but I ignored him. Instead, his plea fuelled my frustration. I didn't know when I screamed at him. “Don't you dare tell me to stay calm, Marcus? Have you lost your mind?Do I need to remind you what's at stake here?” Marcus sighed and looked away. He knew that he screwed up. Deep down, he wanted to apologize to me, but he wasn't certain if I was going to accept the apology. I let out a deep breath and forced myself to stay calm. I tried all I could not to speak further or act. I didn't trust my guts. I was scared that I might do something stupid to hurt someone, which would, of course
