Tony Woods's POV

“Oh, no.

Not again.

What does this bitch want from me once more?” I hissed.

I felt like smashing my phone to the ground, but I considered the important information I may lose should I attempt to do that.

A thousand times she called, and not for once, did I respond.

I dropped the phone on my lap and left the company's premises.

I didn't know where the strength came from because a while ago, I had nothing left inside of me.

I was already making plans to book an appointment with my doctor to have my body fully examined.

A few miles away from my estate, my phone beeped.

Unlike the previous time, it was a notification.

I picked up the phone to check the notification only to see a text from Angela which says, “Your son is worried about you. Where have you been? He has been asking to see you,”

Immediately, I pulled over.

I didn't know when I started weeping like a toddler.

It dawned on me that Kelly would feel most of the pain now.

My hate towards the poor kid has grown, even though he didn't offend me.

The poor kid is about to be punished for a sin that was committed by his treacherous mother.

“What if the DNA results proved that Kelly isn't my son? What am I going to do?” That question ran across my mind at the speed of light.

I was so engrossed in trying to get more secrets from Sean that I didn't even think about that.

Not just me; it might be devastating if poor Kelly discovers that the man he's been parading about with is not even his Father.

I stopped worrying about Kelly when I saw the estate security approaching my car.

The last thing I hated the most was being questioned by someone below my class.

It might be messier knowing that the securities are on Red Alert after the last robbery.

I finally drove to my mansion and parked in the garage.

I didn't step down immediately. Rather, I stood back inside the car to nurse the hole in my heart.

Unlike the previous days when I got so excited to return home, today seemed a lot more different.

I didn't even mind passing the night inside my car if it was just Angela in the picture.

However, the thought of Kelly wanting to see me kind of affected my plans.

With uncertainty, I stepped outside my car and headed to my doorstep.

Like a thief at night would like to steal and destroy, I sneaked into my home.

I felt so awkward doing that. I didn't have a choice.

That was the only time I could avoid seeing Angela's face before I went to bed.

Fortunately for me, the lights in the living room were switched off, which played a vital role in hoarding my identity.

Despite how dark it was inside the living room, I managed to find my way up the stairs.

I found my way to the bedroom and quietly opened the door.

The moment I went inside, the lights came on.

I screamed, “Holy fuck,”

I proceed to hold my chest in relief. It was the scariest moment of my life.

“Like seriously?

Do I need to remind you that is your house?” Angela asked me as she stood beside the door.

It's safe to say that she had it all planned out.

She knew I was coming and decided to dig a pit for me.

Stupid me!

What did I do?

I fell inside the pit like helpless prey.

“You are still up?

I thought you'd slept off,” I said to her while taking off my suit.

All the moment I spoke, I tried my best not to look into her eyes for a second.

She might be standing next to me, but in my mind, she never existed.

“You thought I was asleep? Oops, now that sounds funny,” she giggled.

“You saw my call, didn't you? Why did you ignore it?” She asked me like a private investigator.

She didn't even bother to ask me why I stayed out late.

That goes to show that she doesn't care about me

“I was busy and driving,” I responded and took off my clothes as I prepared for a hot bath.

“And you didn't even consider returning the calls or texting back? Are you cheating on me?” She continued to lament.

My leg was a few inches closer to the washroom before she popped the question

Like a mannequin in fashion stores, I paused. I felt like my legs were glued to the ground.

I tried to convince myself that she didn't just ask that question.

But at the same time, I realized that it was just the two of us in the room.

Ignoring what she said, I proceeded to have my bath.

I couldn't even concentrate on having a good bath as the question kept echoing inside my ear like a concert.

I stepped out of the washroom, intending not to start a fight, when Angela came and stood right in front of me.

From the look in her eyes, I could tell she came prepared.

There was no doubt that she'd been waiting for a moment like that.

“You want to pretend like you didn't hear me the first time, right? So who's she?

When were you going to introduce me to her?” Angela revisited the conversation just when I thought she already moved past it.

It was at that moment it dawned on me that I got married to a witch and not a human.

It opened my eyes and reminded me of the words from friends and families who warned me that Angela might be the downfall.

Now the prophecy is about to come to pass. I haven't been this scared my whole time.

From what I heard about Angela, I ought to be the sad one.

Now she has taken that position and I presently feel guilty for doing absolutely nothing wrong.

If this isn't gaslighting, then I don't know what else it is anymore.

Tony Woods's POV"Introduce you to whom? Who the heck are you talking about? You need to have your head examined because it's obvious that you've lost it. When, lady, did you have your medication?' I yelled at Angela with the last strength inside of me. It wasn't my intention to yell at her in such a manner, but she pushed me to the wall, and I had no choice. “Oh? You are going to pretend like you don't know what I'm talking about? You try to play smart but unfortunately, you aren't,” Angela retaliated. I thought yelling at her was going to scare her a bit, but I was wrong. I didn't know where she got the strength from. I was lost, yet stunned by how Angela managed to pull up that defense mechanism. Coming from someone who has so many dirty secrets. If there's anyone who is entitled to be upset, clearly it should be me.Quietly, I sauntered to the wardrobe and selected my pajamas. Right in her presence, I wore it and grabbed my pillow. “Where the heck are you heading to r

  • Secrets and Second Chances    Chapter 46: Reaching A Common Ground

Tony Woods's POVI could recall getting into a huge fight with my son because he kicked against my marriage to Angela. He tried to make me understand that Angela never loved me, but I ignored him, saying he was drunk. My ex-wife said the same thing. Unlike my son's advice, My ex-wife revealed how she had caught Angela flirting around the city with numerous guys. Did I listen to her?Of course not. What did I do? I called her a jealous fellow. I accused her of trying to sabotage my marriage to Angela because I ended things with her. Seven years later, the warnings from those who mattered to me are starting to haunt me. Back then, I gave a thousand reasons I wanted to get married to Angela. But today, I can't even speak up to save my life. “What are you talking about, Marcus? Why would you ask me why I married Angela?” I sparked outrageously at Marcus. I tried to act tough and pretend that what he said never mattered. But deep down, I cared the most. I maintained a straight

  • Secrets and Second Chances    Chapter 45: Angela; The Kingpin

Tony Woods's POV“Who's calling your phone at this hour? And don't you dare lie to me because I'm going to find out,” I challenged Sean. I didn't give him a chance to speak up first, knowing that he would lie. “It ain't my phone. Why are you probing me? You should check yours.Or don't you have yours? Besides, I'm not the only one seated in this car. I'm pretty sure the others have phones too. “ Sean responded in a placating tone. I didn't utter a word. I didn't retaliate for his rudeness towards me. It was just a matter of time before he spat in my face.I pretend not to hear him speak. I looked away. The moment I noticed he wasn't paying attention, I landed a punch on his chin. “That is what you get for lying to me.I might be closer to my old age, but certainly not a vegetable. I can't be messed with.” Since his hands were cuffed, I was confident that he wasn't going to retaliate with the heavy punch I threw at him. Like a kid who lost a family, he sobbed. I ignored

Tony Woods POV“Sir, I hope you do know that you're the one delaying this investigation, right?I wouldn't want you to play the victim card when the table gets turned in your favor. For crying out loud, it's getting late, and we haven't done anything significant,” Marcus told me, even when I warned him not to speak. He spoke so fast, as though he were under immense pressure. It was obvious that he couldn't keep the thought to himself for too long. What he said about me was rather degrading. Such an act could be capable of bringing out the best in me. But what was I supposed to do anyway? Absolutely nothing!I didn't pick any offense in what Marcus said about me, and neither did I retaliate that he used a harsh tone on me even when he shouldn't be doing that. Irrespective of how everything will play out, I always expected him to be on my side at all times. Inside of me, I knew he was right. I was doing the same thing I was kicked against a couple of minutes ago. I had a glance

  • Secrets and Second Chances    Chapter 43: The Angel You Don't Know

Tony Woods's POV“Can someone please say something already? Don't fucking sit here and do nothing while I die in silence. Have you two known each other before?” I lost my cool and yelled at them. The silent treatment was beginning to mess with my head. They made it seem like I was insane when none of them responded to my question Marcus patted me on the shoulder, pleading for me to stay calm, but I ignored him. Instead, his plea fuelled my frustration. I didn't know when I screamed at him. “Don't you dare tell me to stay calm, Marcus? Have you lost your mind?Do I need to remind you what's at stake here?” Marcus sighed and looked away. He knew that he screwed up. Deep down, he wanted to apologize to me, but he wasn't certain if I was going to accept the apology. I let out a deep breath and forced myself to stay calm. I tried all I could not to speak further or act. I didn't trust my guts. I was scared that I might do something stupid to hurt someone, which would, of course
