Synopsis
Life is not always bright. Esmeray, a woman who has always believed that there is good in everything, realized that when misfortune struck her one after another. Despite trying to live a normal life, she felt as if the world closed its doors to her; as she fell into despair, the curse she was oblivious of which repressed her peculiarity was broken and she became aware that she possessed a supernatural ability. Her world turned upside down as she found herself living in Mysticuria, a hidden place on Earth where supernatural people reside. She thought that she already fits in despite the peculiarity of the community as she hoped to unfold her identity but it seemed that her special ability is a jinx that could paint its user black and could cause destruction to the world. How will she survive if there is an order to exterminate her? "I have always been a lover of sunshine, an admirer of the light of day, a daughter of the Sun. To see the beauty of the world and its people in the glimmer of daylight made me feel loved. But of course, the thoughts I once believed in came crashing down into a speck of dust. I was unduly blinded by the goodness of every day that I overlooked the cruelty of life; it was already late when I realized that the dark dawns to shade my beautiful world with pitch-black."

Shade Me With Pitch-black Chapter 13: Into the Lair (5)
Tori was sleeping quietly and I was feeling guilty for not bringing him with me but my son's safety was my priority. I didn't think that Josephine would endanger him, at least I know she would not harm a child. She might have been bickering a lot with Tori before the tiger transformation incident but it was obvious that she cared for him since I saw how persistent she became to check on Tori's health. I lived together with Josephine these past few months so I could say that I was able to read her seemingly awkward actions a bit — well, that was what I thought not until a few hours ago. I know nothing about her at all except that she sure knows something and she chose not to reveal it to me.I carefully closed the door and walked toward the exit as stealthily as possible but I guess luck was not on my side. There were approaching footsteps as hushed voices became louder. I quickly hid behind a wall and perked up my ears to eavesdrop."I told you, you don't

I squinted my eyes and eagerly waited for answers. I need to squeeze out all the information I could get about Diether. I didn't think I needed to tell her that Diether surely uncovered something, that would just freak her out more."Yes. Ability users cannot do anything when up against him so you should be careful to never cross paths with him. I don't know what a Guardian like him is doing here. Guardians work in groups so he is probably with another Guardian."I already knew about the possibility of another Guardian coming. My problem is that there was something about Diether that I needed to know. "The scion, Diether Fisichella, can he see the past of the people? Or something like that? Digging into other's memories perhaps?""What?" Josephine was puzzled by my question. She fixed her eyeglasses and continued, "Where did that come from? Didn't you know it is impossible unless Diether has the blood of those who specialize in mind, the Sa

"Your eyes are like the ocean, Sir. Your eyes are clear as if they can see through everything. They suit the noble Fisichella name." Were my words flowery enough? I was being sincere, though. He's beautiful. That was my first impression. He looked so holy. His skin is pale and white as snow. He has long shiny silvery-white hair with bluish-white strands that looked rebonded but what caught me mesmerized was his eyes. My heart throbbed as I drowned into those familiar eyes. His eyes were like a familiar gemstone that reflects the ocean, a blue topaz. A light blue jewel shining. What was it that I felt? It was my first time meeting him but something felt weird. I felt like he was oddly familiar... no, his eyes were. Maybe because they are clear as if there is not one lie that it cannot uncover. I felt like he had seen through me.The picture I saw in the cave suddenly flashed inside my mind. I get it now, why this man named Diether Fi

I let it sink in. A Guardian is coming. What bad luck do I have? "Yes! I am excited to meet one. They are incredibly strong so I am curious." "Do you know why a Guardian is coming here?" I toned my voice down and asked the pink-haired woman nearby. I need to know as much as possible to decide on what actions to take. "I don't know the reason exactly but," the woman closed her distance to whisper, "I heard that they are searching for a criminal." "A criminal?" I furrowed my eyebrows and questioned myself if I was the criminal she was talking about even if I did not commit a crime. Or maybe it was because I trespassed in Mysticuria? "Yes, probably a vicious one since the Guardians are on the move. I hope that they catch the criminal soon." "Yeah, I hope they catch the criminal soon." I gulped. I took note of what she said that "the Guardians are on the move" so it was more likely that the one coming today would not be operating alone. Another

"Just a little more power, you can do it, Esmeray," I told myself. I concentrated my strength on my right palm, trying to gather the energy they call mystic into a clump of an orb. A shade of gray streaks is appearing from my widely open palm, albeit my hand is
Shade Me With Pitch-black Chapter 2: Welcome
I was dazzled by sunlight the moment I opened my eyes. The sun, huh? How long has it been since I last felt its warmth? I rubbed my eyes and felt like my body was recharged. Where am I? The window is open and the walls are made up of wood. This is not my room, I thought.Dame
Shade Me With Pitch-black Chapter 1: The Shading
My head was swirling in a nauseating haze as memories flashed and time-lapsed. I felt as if my soul was being pulled out from my body and I was being suspended into an unknown space to debilitate. The sun had just set and the night was nowhere near calm, it w
