Chapter 24

last update Last Updated: 2025-12-28 23:24:36

I lay there in a daze, I feel like I am drifting through time and space. Am I dying? I don’t feel like I am yet, I am not completely sure. If I am where are my ancestors? Where is my grandmother with my family. It doesn’t feel like heaven. I feel like I am in a trance. After a long time of staring into what feel like an abyss of emotions. I hear a loud clap. Like someone snapping me out of my chaos. I feel more awake. I look around the room. I am not sure why but, I have the thought to call “Mr. Dubois.”

I pick up my cell phone which oddly enough is right by my bed. I dial his number.

“Good evening, this is Fredrick Dubois”

“Mr. Dubois this is Katherine. Something’s happened I can’t explain. I think I was attacked. A man came over earlier to help me move in.”

“Did you allow him inside?”

“No something told me not to; I always follow my gut.”

“Then what happened” He sounded concerned.

“I took the truck back to town. Somehow, I lost control of the truck like something was trying to destroy the truck with me in it. I finally made it back home, and I decided to take a nap after all the moving. I just woke up. I have blood smeared on me and I can barely move, as if the strength was sucked out of me.” He growled a weird sound.

“I’ll be right over; I’m in the area.”

“Thank you, sir.”

“I’m sorry this happened to you, I’ll have a security camera’s installed, and I’ll make sure that all the precautions are met so nothing happens to you.” I thank him one more time before hanging up. I loll on my bed, trying to rest and let my strength return. After a while, I hear someone knocking on the door. I hear his voice call out. I shout for him to come in. I cover up and  a blanket. He comes up the stairs and into the room to inspect me.

He has some type of salve with him. It’s red but, smells good.

“Ancient French healing ointment. You’ll be good as new in no time.” He says while applying it. I immediately feel a tingling.

It works like magic; I slowly begin to feel better. I smile and thank him for the assistance.

“When you’re ready come downstairs. I brought food I think you might like. I cannot stay cause I have matters to attend to but, I will be letting the Hofer’s know about what happened, see what steps they want to take. “

“Thank you, sir.”

“Take some rest, come down when you’re ready.” He says as he leaves.

“Also, I am putting this vervain sprout on all the windows. I don’t know who attacked you of if it was an animal. If was wildlife, this will keep them out.” He tells me with a smile. I feel at ease once more pray that it was just wildlife.

“What if it was a Skinwalker or some dark creature? I’ve heard about them. I had a friend who grew up in the Appalachian mounts. She said it’s infested with sinister creatures. She showed me a picture of one on her front yard.”

“I don’t think we have that around here but, I’ll take precautions.” He says in a grave tone. Then I hear him leave. After a few more hours, thanks to this magic salve I feel restored enough to walk downstairs. I smile as I find a lovely French breakfast waiting for me. It’s not breakfast time but, I am hungry. I begin to sit down and eat to my hearts delight. Afterwards I decide to go back upstairs and rest for the remainder of the evening.

Night falls, and with it a thunderstorm stirs up. Lightening cracks and for some reason outside of my bedroom, I swear I see sinister red eyes peering in at me. Feel like it must be the exhaustion of the day. I close the blinds, turn on N*****x. I feel dread again as a precaution. I make sure the house is locked up with the deadbolts he installed. I also lock my room to make sure I am extra safe. I snuggle up with a blanket and put on the TV. I change my mind about N*****x and put on “Discovery of Witches” on A****n Prime. Wishing I could find a man like Matthew.

One of my favorite episodes is, number four when Diana and Mathhew finally come together. He takes her away with him to Sept Tours which is supposed to be in France, and her time in France begins to further unlock her power. It’s so beautiful. Though they have their dark nights where he leaves, they still endure and stay together come what may. I hope to have a love like that. Why was I cursed and so blinded into loving Owen who is not who I thought he was. For so long, he seemed so normal. A bit of an asshole but, I never thought he could be capable of atrocities like I realized. It’s if Diana got amnesia and fell for Gerbert without realizing the monster he is. I continue to watch the show until I hear the timer go off downstairs.

I race downstairs and pull the food out of the oven, so it does not overcook. I arrange the dinnerware and sit down to eat. I spend the rest of the evening enjoying my food. I have always loved cooking. New York didn’t allow me to cook. There was always a delivery system that made the idea non necessary. I enjoy the silence, and food in peace, savoring each taste. I look around for something to drink and find some red wine. A “Pinot Noir” is perfect. After dinner is done, I wash everything and put it all on the drying rack. I’ll handle it in the morning.

I take my glass, with bottle of wine. I walk through the house, turning off the lights, making sure everything is locked up. Then, I head back upstairs to my bedroom and N*****x, feeling full and satisfied. I put the wine down with the glass, on the bedside table. I refresh the tv and press play. I curl up in the bed with a comfy blanket. Honestly, it’s moments like this that I do begin to miss New York. There’s no noise of the city, no friends like “Marcy” coming over to my house late night at eleven pm cause she was out have drinks and wants to crash. Owen getting pissed off cause he has to be awake for work in the morning. If that didn’t happen, he would get pissed, leave and not come back for two days, never saying where he went. Now that I think of it, he had a dark aura and was suspiciously mysterious. It went beyond the cheating. Sometimes when we’d fight cause I wouldn’t give him what he wanted, his eyes would shift color. One time I thought they turned a little red. Always dismissed it as my imagination. I can’t explain what I have been discovering here, whether it’s reality or not but, something dark is at play here. It’s messing with my mind. Perhaps, it has been my entire life, and I never looked close enough to realize it. I think Judith is right, I think we need to explore that Mansion, and see if there’s any secrets that is trying to reveal?

The rest of the Hofer family had cleared the area. Except for Walter. I saw him hiding in the crowd. He was staring at the scene in bitterness. There was a sneer on his face. He ran towards Rudolph at the battle arena. Ralph was hurt; he was prime target to easily kill. I lived through so much, I was not losing him.“WALTER!” I roared. He stopped and stared at me. There was fear in his eyes, he looked pale for a moment.“Oh Goddess, of bullshit! You think you can come back! Never!” he bellowed as he threw a spear at me. I hit the ground to get out of the way. I heard a groan from behind me. The spear had hit my grandfather.“No!” I ran towards him and held him as his life faded from his eyes.“I love you buttercup. I am so sorry, I never told you.” He said as he breathed his last. I cried in sorrow. I reached back with the power of the goddess I knew was flowing inside of me. I grabbed Walter by the throat like a Sith as he was about to perform a killing blow to Rudolph. He choked as

I heard the roar of pain, rage and my eternal salvation. I felt the ground quake. I had left the mental door open for Rudolph to hear everything. With eyes slipping closed, I saw the castle walls being ripped open like the wrath of the earth and powerful force was being slammed into the room. The walls ripped open. Broken, and bleeding I saw Rudolph in all his eternal glory. His eyes were the color of fire, ablaze with revenge with the need for revenge his been seeking for the last thousand years. The constant betrayal of his family cut deep. I saw Victor Hofer and several others storming into the room. I saw an invisible power pick up Edgar and rip him away from me. He flew several yards and hit an ancient building. He screamed in anger. Several vampires were surrounding me and snarling at Conrad and Silas.“Get her out of here!” Rudolph roared to one of them. Fredrick came to me as I was coughing up blood.“Oh my God! Miss Katie! Forgive me!” he bellowed as tears streamed down his f

My mind drifted, and I came back to reality. I glance through my half-closed eye lids and notice, he’s not the only one in the room. Conrad and Edgar are also there. Hovering over my body. I open my eyes; they already probably know that I am awake. I try to pull on the chains, and I stare at Edgar with a defiant look. He stares back at me. They all stop their sexual probing of me. Conrad and Silas take step back at Edgars physical command, when he holds up his hand.“So, this seems familiar, only different. How do we fucking kill you and make sure you don’t come back?” Edgar says. I smirked, then I spit in his face. He smirks then slaps me hard enough across the face, that I feel like jaw crack. I steel my reserve. I will not scream in pain to their delight.”“Why me?” I ask through the pain.“That’s a good question, you don’t know do you ?” I stare at him.“Lover boy hasn’t told you?” Conrad said with a snicker.“You’re descendant from a powerful deity. She fell in love with someone

The left side of my head feels sticky and has the most throbbing. I feel like someone just hit me with a Mack truck. My eyes are groggy but begin to focus around the room. I am no long bathed in the darkness of where I was but, I am still not in good shape, I look down trying to focus my eyes. I left eye can barely open. Whoever hit me must have given me a black eye, on top of knocking me the fuck out.I look around. I am in a bedroom I do not recognize. It looks ancient, the design looks it’s a medieval castle bedchamber room. The bed is large enough to fit a dozen people but, there’s dust everywhere. It shows, it has not been used in forever. There is a faint glow of a light in the room. As if it is lit with a torch or candles. I feel hands roaming around me. I lay still. It feels also, like I cannot move my legs? Did they break them or something

I remember Ralpha left telling me to stay in the house. Before leaving, as an escape route, he removed the stone from the entrance of the tunnel. He told me if anything happened. I could escape to the tunnel. Find a chamber room and lock myself in or hide in the mansion. I nodded, grateful for an escape I can rely on. He told me to call him if I can, if anything happens. That was a few hours ago. He said that he was going to arrange with Fredrick and the Hofer family our trip to Germany. He needed to prepare the vampire counsel of my presence as well. He said that not everyone would be on board with a human being included into his world. He said that if they knew I am intending to one day change and become queen that would settle them down.He said there has not been a vampire royal couple. King and Queen since his parents. His parents were killed six hundred years ago during the Middle Ages. Humans during that time were more aware of vampire creatures and were not accepting. There we

We start getting dressed. He looks outside and checks to make sure the coast is clear. He calls on his phone to Fredrick and speaks with him. When he is done, he tells me that Conrad and Edgar no longer appear to be in the area. I should be safe. I breath a sigh of relief.“You can’t stay here right now.” He tells me.“I honestly never wanted to. Too much has happened to me here to want to be here.”“You will be here eventually but, right now I need to keep you safe. You’re coming with me to Germany.” He tells me with finality. I look at him in surprise. I am going with him to the Hofer family estate. If he’s really the same one who was with Gabrielle, this means I am going to the “Lord Hofer” estate where he was once a person of German royalty. The amount of German historical ancestry this is, I am nervous and excited.“In my vision, they were saying that you called a ‘Vampire King’ of Germany?” I ask him he looks at me warily.“Yes, that is true, you don’t need to worry about it. th
