CHAPTER 12

Poisoned. I was being poisoned. I couldn’t even process that. But I guess it didn’t really come as much of a surprise. I mean, dad did everything else to me. Why not poison me as well.

“Ever since you got here, you told me that the food tasted differently.” Alpha Connor says.

“Yeah. It does.” I say.

“Your father was poisoning your food.” Alpha Connor says.

“Well, that’s why she’s not healing. And she won’t start to heal until all of that crap is out of her system.” Dr. Evelyn says.

“How long will that take?” Alpha Connor asked leaning forward on his legs while we were all sitting in the living room area.

“It’s hard to tell. It depends on how much they were feeding to her. It could be days or it could be weeks. It will flush out of her system, it will just take time.” Dr. Evelyn says.

I sat there listening to them talking back and forth about me and all I could do was nod my head. I didn’t really know what else to do. I didn’t know what to say. There wasn’t anything to say.
