Chapter 3

Antony arrived early in the morning to find Simon asleep in the parlor. "Jennie! Get down here!" Jennie was already up, not being able to sleep the night before. "Coming, father!!" Jennie rushed downstairs in a beautiful plain white dress she had bought in town 2 weeks prior while with Roselyn.

"Yes, father?" Jennie arrived down stairs to see Antony standing over Simon.

"What is the meaning of this?!" Antony shouted.

Jennie tried to sound as calm as possible "Now, father before you get angry, we have something to tell you." Jennie took a step closer.

"Sir, I want to marry your daughter." Simon interrupted.

"Like hell you will! Jennie explain this right now." Antony demanded an answer.

Jennie started in a tone she would hope her father would find docile. "Father, it's just been so lonely here and you're gone all the time and Simon has.”

Anton abruptly interrupted “Don’t you dare finish that thought. I have a marriage proposal for you, it's already been decided we leave in 5 days."

Jennie thoughts immediately raced through her mind, how could he do this to me? How could he fail to even mention this to me? I have to compose myself. "Father, I" Jennie started before Simon interrupted. 

"Sir, I cannot allow that, I love your daughter and I will care for her and our child." Anton’s eyes grew. "Your child?" Jennies father repeated himself "Your child?" he slowly turned to Jennie.

"Now, father, before you" Antony raised his hand cutting Jennie off and followed through with a backhand across her cheekbone. Jennie lifted her head in disbelief. Her father has never once laid a hand on her.

Antony quickly pulled a pistol from his waist and pointed it at Simon, who was now standing. "Father, please no, you don't have to do this. I'm sorry." Jennie was pleading with her father, tears streaked her face. Jennie tried to grab the pistol from Antony but he just pushed her into the wall. "I can't have this, this will ruin everything for me." Jennie has never seen this much anger from her father.

"Father, please. It was a mistake, he can marry me before anyone has to know I'm with child."

Antony kept his pistol pointed at Simon. "I can not allow this. This deal has to happen." Antony took one final look at Simon before turning his focus on Jennie. Antony’s blue eyes turned black, with his pistol raised at Simon and him staring at Jennie, he tilted his head as if to say it’s her fault. He fired one single shot. Within a second smoke filled the room, Jennies ears rang as she fell to her knees letting out a haunting scream. Antony made his way over to his daughter and picked her up by her nape, wrapping her wavy brown hair in his hand. "You can not keep this child and you will marry who I intended."

Antony threw Jennie to the floor. Jennie w unable to respond, she was in complete shock. Her father wasn't capable of this, how could he be? And Simon? Oh my, Simon, he's gone. Jennie wailed at the sight of Simon, lifeless in her home. His burning blue eyes, no longer filled with light. Gathering what strength she could, she met her father’s gaze.

"How could you father? How could you do this?" Jennie screamed from where she sat. "I hate you, I hate you!"

Antony squatted down, and he stared into Jennies eyes. "And I you, you have been nothing but a burden to me. I only put up with you because of your mother. When I found out you weren't even mine, I did my best to make sure society never found out, so I could have the respect that came with a family. Your mother was a whore who ruined me. I gave her everything she wanted but it was not enough. I'm glad to finally be rid of her."

The coolness in Antony’s voice sent a shiver down Jennies back. "What are you talking about? Mother would never do that to you, she loved our family."

Antony laughed at Jennie. " You foolish girl, your mother was very good at pretending, just like you. Just like her, you followed in her foot steps and just couldn't keep your legs closed. You both should've been kept at the nearest brothel."

With out a second thought, Jennie landed her fist into Antony nose. Antony kept his head down and chuckled. He wiped away the blood that fell from his nose. "No matter girl, I'll soon be rid of you but first we need to rid you of the abomination you created." Antony landed a punch to Jennies temple rendering her unconscious. Antony then proceeded to attack Jennies stomach with kicks and fists forcing a miscarriage. He didn't quit until Jennies pretty white dress was soaked in blood. Still unconscious, Antony carried Jennie upstairs and placed her in her bed, then leaving to take care of the mess he created down stairs.
