I haven't left my room in five days. The aftermath from my “so called fathers” means of abortion left me in pain and despair. How could he do this to me? I know we never had the closest relationship, but I thought he loved me? He killed my lover and my baby. Did he kill my mother too? I laid in bed and checked the rags I had placed beneath me, the bleeding had finally started to slow to almost a complete stop.

I stood naked in front of my mirror. My stomach was still had some black and blue bruising, but most had started to turn yellow. Shoe marks outlined some of my bruising. A horrid reminder, this is now my baby’s grave, desecrated by a man I knew as father, a man that was more concerned about his social standings, than his moral compass.

I'm supposed to meet the man I’m betrothed to today. I don't even know this man, but what are my options? Try to stay here with Antony, run away, or brave the situation and marry a man I never met in hopes for a better life? I threw on my favorite dress, it was off white and decorated with small pink roses and green vines. I to leaned forward and pushed my breast up and the white frill from the dress rested against them. I gave my cheeks a pinch and fixed my hair in a complimenting up do. I finished packing my bags with a few of my dresses and essentials not knowing what to expect.

I could hear Antony calling for me, the wretched pig. "Jennie we must get going, we can't keep your new husband waiting, so help me you better not embarrass me."

I could see his sly grin from the top of the stairs and I never wanted to strike a man as badly as I do right now. I must act like a proper lady though, I need to just get through this and away from him. I peered into the parlor before I walked out and there appeared to be no trace left to what happened five nights ago. My heart felt heavy as I walked out of what I thought was my home, now just a haunting memory.

Alpha Wolf Heart POV

"Alpha Wolf Heart, hello, Alpha Wolf Heart" Ahanu called out.

"Ehh what are you doing Ahanu?" Shit, he definitely just caught me day dreaming.

"I've been trying to get your attention Alpha". Ahanu had a confused look on his face.

"How many times do I have to tell you, you are my beta and best friend, stop calling me Alpha." I waved my hand at him.

"You are our new Alpha since your father stepped down, what do you expect me to call you?" Ahanu had a menacing look on his face.

"Ahanu, you can still call me by my goddess given name."

Ahanu was crouched down, with hands on his knees with a sly smile. He shouted "Whatever you say... Tyee... Alpha Wolf Heart of the Blood Moon Pack, fearless protector of our lands."

With that, Ahanu threw a small rock in my direction before shifting into his wolf, Ash, taking off for the river. If it's a chase he wants, he's got it. I let out a playful howl before shifting into my wolf, Dakota.

"Come on Dakota, we can't let him and his wolf beat us to the river."

Dakota let out a snort. "Just because we're Chief now doesn't mean we're going to start taking it easy on him."

Ash was fast and bigger than most wolves since he was my beta. He could easily be an alpha to a smaller pack. He was still noticeably smaller than Dakota.

Dakota picked up the pace maneuvering through the trees with Ash only a short distance ahead of us. Dakota let out a playful growl before veering off to a boulder just ahead.

"Are you really going to do this Dakota, this would be a pretty far leap, even for you" I stated.

"You need to have a little faith in me, I know my limits and this isn't one of them."

I gave Dakota a nod, I trust him and he knows it. Dakota was gaining speed and pushed off the edge of the boulder with his hind legs. I held my breath, it felt like we were flying. Then we hit the ground hard. Dakota tumbled onto the ground in front of Ash. Dakota had just gotten to his feet and gave Ash a toothy grin before taking off to the river. "Aaaaooooo ooooooo, let's go Dakota, we got him beat!" Before we knew it, we were diving paws first into the river. I came back up shifting back into my form. Ahanu, had shifted back and was running into the river to join me.

"When the hell did you get so fast." he said while panting.

"You've just always been slow" I chuckled and gave a splash in his direction.

"So, Tyee... Tell me, are you nervous for this human girl to join us? Are you going to tell her what we are?"

I thought for a moment. "I don't think I'm nervous, I knew I had to mate someone after I became Chief Alpha. I just didn’t know she was going to be a human. I know I'm going to have to tell her eventually."

Ahanu just nodded his head. "Well, I don't think you should tell her until you can trust her." Ahanu was right. I have to protect my pack first before this human. Ahanu had that look again. “Besides, I know you and Dakota sit on the edge of the forest watching her. If I didn't know any better, I would think she was your goddess given mate!" Ahanu took off back to shore before I could catch him.

"It’s a shame, he really deserved to be held under for that one." Dakota stated unamused.

"You know, Dakota, maybe he's not wrong" I started to think. "Tyee, you know that's impossible. She's human"

I know he's right, but when I'm watching her, there's something I can't put my finger on.

Splash. Ahanu threw a rock towards us. "Come on Tyee, you're going to be late for your future HUMAN mate". He started to blow kisses towards me.

I started to shout back before Dakota stopped me "Come on, let's go, I have an idea but you need to shift". Following Dakotas directions, I quickly got out of the water and shifted into my wolf and we took off back towards home. Ahanu was still in his human form walking back, the idiot forgot his clothes. Dakota made sure he didn't see him on his run back.

"What are you up to?" I asked.

"Let's just say he's going to miss the first meeting with your soon to be mate." giving me a small grin.

When we arrived back home Dakota quickly went back to where we shifted at and grabbed Ahanu’s clothes. "You cunning little fox. I love it, let’s put them outside of Aponi’s hut." Ahanu has the biggest crush on her and has said countless times that if neither of them find their mate at the Wolf Moon gathering in 6 months then he would make her his chosen mate. They were both still very young at 60 years old, but I get not wanting to wait any more. After I dropped his clothes off, I made my way back to my hut. I have to get ready.

Dakota pushed his way forward. "You know this is necessary, you made this deal with the human parliament. After this you must protect the humans from the were bears."

"I just wish I didn't have to deal with the humans for this but I need to make sure our boundaries stay intact."

Dakota had laid next to me and crossed his paws. Our minds like all wolves, created a sanctuary, for us to revert to and be with our wolves.

"I know and you are now making decisions as an Alpha and it's to protect our people. If we're being honest though, there is a human you would love to deal with".

Jennie We finally made it back to the hut, and Tyee was starting to lean on me a little more, and he was sweating bullets. I walked him over to the bed. “Tyee, will you let me get the healer now? You don't look good, my love." Tyee swung his feet onto the bed “I just need to rest, I'll be fine.” I went over to the stove to light a fire and get some light in the room. I grabbed a candle and walked over to Tyee, and held the light to his side. I gasped at the sight. He’s not healing, and the wound it’s still bleeding. “Tyee, I'm going to get the healer.” I went to put the candle down, but Tyee grabbed my arm, pulling me back. “Do not say a word to anyone, be quiet about it, don’t forget you're in a village of wolves that can hear everything. They can't know their Alpha is hurt.” I nodded my head before leaning in to give Tyee a kiss. “I'll be right back, my love. You need to rest. I'll be right back.” Tyee gave me a small smile, and I turned and walked as quickly as I could to Ahanu's

Jennie Everything was happening so fast. My eyes were adjusted to the dark, and I could make out the figures of two very large bears and their glowing eyes. They circled us closing in. Dakota was moving his body around mine following the bears as they got closer. I couldn't move. My body was rigid. How am I supposed to help Tyee and Dakota? They can't take on two bears at once? The bears have moved in on us. They were snapping at our feet, but Dakota didn't budge until the smaller bear swiped his paw at me. Dakota instantly lunged, going for his throat. He snapped down hard and held on as the bear thrashed around, trying to swing him off. Dakota positioned himself under the bear using his claws to slash and tear into his abdomen, still clamped onto his neck. I watched in terror still frozen when I heard bones cracking. I turned to the other bear, who had now shifted into a human. He was running for me, and I screamed, my body a statue. I took a deep breath, and when his body mad

Tyee I let Dakota take over the shift, and he immediately stretched his stretched his paws. “It’s about time you let me shift.” Dakota smirked. I couldn’t help but roll my eyes. “Alright old man, let’s get going, eh?” Dakota snickered as he got down on his belly for Jennie to climb on. Jennie carefully ran her fingers down our back. “I almost forgot how big you are” She whispered. Dakota nodded his head at Jennie for her to climb on. I felt her fingers grab on to Dakota’s fur, and as soon as she leaned forward, Dakota took off. It was going to be a short run down to the river, but at least Dakota gets to stretch his legs. I could hear Jennie’s heart racing, and her small gasps was we wove through the trees. Dakota was happy being able to feel the night air flow through his fur and our mate on his back, so much he so he tried fighting the shift when we reached the river. “Don’t worry, Dakota, you can run us back, don’t get so angry. “ Dakota just chuffed at me as he laid down, cros

  • Shifted Human   Chapter 31

Jennie I’ve been waiting patiently for Tyees' return. I hope the war meeting went well, and I hope Raiah is met with leniency. I like her very much and hope we can stay friends. While Tyee was in his meeting, I couldn’t sleep, so I wondered through the village and stopped to chat with some older ladies. They were all talking in their language, and some were weaving fabrics, while others were cooking. I approached them, and they all greeted me as Luna, but I can’t say it was welcoming. Still, I wanted to make the effort. “Hello ladies!” They all nodded their heads, acknowledging me. I walked over to the oldest woman weaving a blanket and put my hand on her shoulder, and tried to give my warmest smile. “Can you show me how to do that?” I asked. Again, I was given a small nod. I watched her fingers work as if they were making magic. “Wow, I don’t think I can do that! You’re amazing!” Next thing I know, all of the women were laughing. I let out a small smile, trying to hide my embarr

  • Shifted Human   Chapter 30

Tyee I walked into the war tent, where the elders were already gathered. I walked in letting out my Alpha aura a little more than I normally do. The elders although wise, will find a way to try and over power you if you don’t stand your ground. With my father sitting as the head of the elders now it’s exceedingly worse. My father announced my presence. “Chief Alpha Tyee of the Blood Moon Pack. May you hear our words and let our wisdom guide you.” Every elder bared their necks to me and Dakota pressed forward “You may gather around the pack table.” The pack table was a fine piece of wood with top carved out to mimic our pack lands and the immediate surrounding packs. My father began. “Chief Tyee you have called upon the elders, what is your ask?” “Thank you father, and my elders. You may sit.” I paused allowing everyone to get situated as I remained standing. “As you all know the bear king is testing us. First the killing of Sairo, now Raiah being sent to spy. We must act.” The roo

  • Shifted Human   Chapter 29

Jennie I feel so conflicted by Raiah and Tyee. I consider Raiah a friend and I don't want to see her punished especially by my husband. On the other hand Tyee, he's my mate and if Raiah would have followed through with her plan and hadn't confessed Tyee could have been killed. Seeing Tyee command that much power with hardly any effort was tantalizing. Tyee pulled me from my thoughts, whispering in my ear. “What are you thinking about little wolf?” I shook my head, feeling my cheeks blush. “Don't lie to me, I can smell you.” Tyee stopped us turning me towards him. He brushed his thumb over my lip leaning in, resting his forehead against mine. “I can help you with that.” I nodded my head as I held his gaze. He stepped closer, his lips meeting mine, his kiss was soft and sweet and I needed more. Tyee picked me up in one swift motion and I couldn't help but squeal. Tyee let out a deep laugh as he walked us back to our hut. Once inside Tyee brought me over to the bed putting me down nex
