Chapter 4

They stared down at me like I was crazy.

“What did she say?” the jealous lady leaned closer to Mr. Buyer as she threw an intimidating glance at me.

He cast a cold stare at her and walked away, ignoring them.

“Are you a werewolf?” I asked again.

My lips pursed in annoyance when he ignored me too.

Who the hell does he think he is?

We sauntered across different large hallways and got to a long corridor.

He got to a door and pushed it open.

“Get down,” he snapped.

“I can’t, you’re aware that I can’t walk. I sprained my ankle,” I muttered, my poignant eyes amplifying my point.

“I know you can walk.”

I stared at his cold face, my brows knotted up in surprise.

Shit, does that mean I can’t lie to this man?

“Oh, you know?”

“Get down!”

“I don’t want to,” I confessed, puppy-eyed.

He inhaled, exhaled, and trudged off towards the door, pushing it open.

I smiled triumphantly, hiding my face against his chest.

I can tell that I’m a stinging thorn in his flesh.

I peeked around the room we entered. Longue couches were set around a plush carpet, the queen-size bed and high purple divan tempted me to sink into its comfort and drown in an uninterrupted sleep.

As if he read my thoughts, he walked over to the bed and dropped me into it.

“A maid will be sent to you soon,” he grumbled, straightened up, and trudged towards the door.

“Wait,” I called out and he stopped walking but didn’t turn around.

“Why did you bring me here?” he huffed and continued walking, ignoring my question.

I realized  that I don't even know his name

“What is your name, at least,” I asked.

He twisted the knob and flung the door open.

“Alpha Dominic of the Silver Line Pack.” The door slammed shut.

Immediately he left, an eerie stillness replaced his presence in the room. I glanced around the room and folded myself together, crouching into the bed.

“You should have told me why you bought me too,” I huffed, shuddered, and dropped my head into the fluffy white pillow.

Soon after he left, three girls walked into the room each carrying a tray.

I raised my head and peered closely at the smiling girls.

Oops, sorry, did I say girls?

One of them was an elderly woman, her grey hair was perfectly curled back and held up in a glittering pin. Her wrinkling face was covered with mind-soothing smiles. Her sparkling dark eyes reminded me so much about my mother.

She sat on the divan and directed the smile to me, or perhaps, to everyone.

“She’s human,” one of the other two girls gasped behind her, staring at me.

The older woman didn’t take notice. She reached out and caressed my arm.

I winced, cringing back in fear.

While drawing away from her, my ankle collided with the bed stand drawer.

“Ouch!” I winced and reached for my burning ankle, caressing it.

“Don’t be afraid, I’m here to help you. I am the pack’s doctor,” she said, chuckling.

She reached out for my arm again, more cautious this time around.

“The Alpha instructed me to take care of your wounds,” she added, peering closely at my bloodied body.

“Pull off your clothes,” she said, the smile never ceased to disappear from her beautiful face.

It reminded me of Dominic’s smile when he called out to me on my parents’ porch. It was charming, innocent, and fake.

I wonder if her smile is also as fake as his.

“Pull off your clothes,” she repeated. I resented.

“I have a daughter of your age, I won’t hurt you,” she whispered, she squeezed my arm softly.

And so what? Do you expect me to trust you because you have a daughter of my age?

“No one can hurt you aside the Alpha,” one of the girls chipped in.

I glanced at the doctor wondering if she reads thoughts too. The clueless smile on her face pointed out that she didn’t know my thoughts. I sighed relieved, no one will have to barge into my privacy.

I cringed at the sight of a cotton wool and syringe. Though I derive joy and happiness through treating and bandaging wounds, I hate having my wounds treated.

The doctor seemed to notice the discomfort.

“Are you okay, dear?” she asked.

“Can-can you sedate me before cleaning the wounds?” I stuttered, glaring at the wet cotton wool that was inches away from my forehead.

Her brows knotted up in surprise as she smiled at my fright of the medical equipment.

“Alright.”

I managed to endure the injection of the sedative and before long, my eyelids became heavy and I soon plunged into the river of blinding darkness.

~~~~~
A chattering sound in the background forced my eyes to snap open. I stared at the direction the sound came from. A girl stood before a table arranging and rearranging teacups. I wondered if she was doing that to pass out time while I slept.
The doctor and her little nurses were gone, and my wounds had been cleaned and bandaged.
I cleared my throat to attract the girl’s attention and it worked. She spun sharply and her alarmed expression calmed down when she saw me lying awake on the bed.
“You’re awake,” she muttered and slowly sauntered towards the bed. I sat up and sighed poignantly.
“I have prepared a hot bubble bath. Would you like to take a shower now?” her crisp voice matched her sharp penetrating eyes.
I nodded and she helped me into the bathroom.
After a hot soothing bath, I tied a bathrobe around my body and stared at my reflection in the mirror.
“Would you like to have some coffee?” she asked.
“No thank you, but I would like to be left alone,” I added a smile.
She nodded and bowed before trudging out of the room. Immediately the door was closed, I huffed and set to constructing plans for my escape.
How do I get out of this place, and even if I manage to escape who will I run to?
I can’t risk the life of my family by running to them. I have to go somewhere far away, somewhere Dominic wouldn’t be able to find me.
I thought about Julia. No, I can’t run to her, she will give me up at any slightest opportunity she gets. Julia is my best friend, I mean, she used to be my best friend until we got into a fight over Casper.
Casper had asked me out and I bluntly turned him down. I knew Julia wanted him and I knew she hated me for being the one he chose.
If there is someone who will be capable of protecting me against Alpha Dominic it is Casper.
“Yes, I will run to Casper and tell him to marry me,” I grinned at the perfect plan and clapped, ready to set out with my perfect plan.
The door burst open and I swerved around quickly.
The jealous lady whom I had seen earlier walked in with an older woman.
“Is she the weasel you talked about, Tilda?” the older woman waved her fingers towards me.
“Yes, she is, Luna,” the lady whom I discovered is Tilda nodded, glaring at me like I was a weasel. Funny enough, that was what they called me.
“Hmmm,” the Luna chuckled and threw an intimidating glance at me.
Wait a minute, she’s a Luna, which means that she’s the Alpha’s mate. But the woman looked old enough to be Domino’s mother. Looks can deceive anyway.
I should try making friends with them, that will earn me a better route to getting out of this place.
“Oh, you must be Domino’s mate,” I pointed at the Luna, wearing the best smile I could fake.
Tilda’s jaws dropped open and the Luna was taken aback in shock.
“What did you call me?” her voice sounded like a ghostly whisper.
“Dominic’s mate,” I repeated. Did I say something wrong?
The Luna gasped loudly.
“She called the Alpha by his name, what insolence!” Tilda shrieked.
“You will pay dearly for this disrespect.”
“Yes!” Tilda agreed, glaring at me with disgust floating around her eyes.
“No one can hurt me aside the Alpha,” I repeated the words of one of the nurses.
Tilda couldn’t talk and the Luna was shocked beyond expression.
“I am the Alpha’s mother and you are going behind bars!”
Oops, she’s not Dominic’s mate but his mother.
Well, I won’t let her insult me because she’s his mother.
Tilda dashed off to call a guard and when she returned she had smiles all over her.
“Take her away.” I was roughly shoved out of the room and into the cold corridor.
“I will put her in her place soon,” I heard the Luna say behind me, Tilda agreed with a shrill laughter.
Oh honey, you better start counting the days of your laughter.
I thought she was joking but I realized she wasn’t when I was flung into an empty damp cell.
The Luna stood outside smirking evilly. Seems like she’s going to be the evil type.
“What did she say? No one can hurt me aside from the Alpha,” she mimicked and they shared a laugh of mockery.
“You’ll remain here till I decide when I will pardon you,” she said to me.
I tried to speak but a part of me forbore me. My loud mouth put me into this mess anyway.
I wondered where the Alpha is, he brought me here he should also save me.
“And be aware that you will be locked up here without food or water.”
What??
“This will teach you a lesson you won’t forget in a lifetime,” she said and spun around.
I saw her color drain from her neck as she stared into the cold blue eyes of Alpha Dominic.
