Chapter Four- Complicated

“Why were you looking for me, Mia?”

“To umm… tell you that I-I don’t know what to do, you brought me here. What am I expected to do?” I answered his question with one.

“Yeah, that’s true. You’re expected to do just what in particular?” he began to scratch the back of his neck like he had nothing to say.

“You wait till I give instructions and a list of your duties” he added.

“Okay” I nodded. “If I’m asked who I am what do I tell them?” I added.

“Tell them it’s none of their concern” he uttered casually like it was no big deal.

“I don’t think I can say that with the way they appear quite intimidating with guns” I stated staring at the bare floor. He glared at me for a while trying to grasp   my statement while chewing on his lower lip.

He was obviously had charms. He looked more like a demi-god but he had an impure inner mind.

“Tell them simply that you’re the Alpha’s mate and they know better to touch you” he whispered the last part more to himself but I was still able to hear it.

“Alpha’s mate? What does that implies?” I questioned.

“You don’t have to know that now. It will do you more well if you stay unaware for now” he sounded as though he was talking to himself. I knitted my brows in confusion, why does he always confuse me? He turned around working away.

“Wait!” I called out, he stopped but didn’t turn back to face me.

“What’s your name? What can I recognize you as when I’m to reply you?” I asked the question that has been hanging in my head now.

He hesitated for a while before answering after giving a sigh.

“Corey, but that’s Alpha to other people”

Corey? Alpha to other people like Alpha Corey. It was probably a title given to the head of the gang. He began walking again, so slow like he wanted to be called back in which I ended up doing.

“I don’t know the way back to the room you showed me earlier” I complained.

“Which explains the reason I’m walking slower than usual” he responded increasing his pace. I sighed and began following him. He stopped at the door gesturing me to enter before turning around to walk away.

“Does that title ‘Alpha’ indicate leadership to this place?” I asked bluntly not knowing if I should have kept my mouth shut. To my outright surprise, he stopped and turned back to look at me dead in the eye.

“Why did you ask that kind of question, Rainfall?” he asked staring at me with a serious face. Why did he get so worked up all of a sudden?

“Nothing. I was just wondering why you chose that title” I shrugged. He stared at me blankly for a while like he was debating with himself. He cursed under his breath muttering some words.

Did I say something wrong? Why was he talking to himself? Did he hate questions? Was it just me but the way he was muttering the words was as though he was replying someone? Was he interacting with his conscience?   I cleared my throat causing him to look up at me.

“Umm… I was wondering if you were alright. You were saying something.” He sighed before uttering

“Go to your room, Rainfall” he turned around walking away with fast pace.

That was awkward. I opened the door and stepped in. I let out a loud yawn and laid on the bed. I felt so weary and starved, the clock on the night stand read 7:30pm. I felt dizzy causing my eyes to shut close waiting for darkness to come around. I drifted to the world of peace and darkness.

Writer’s Pov

He opened the door to his bedroom extremely exhausted from the day’s work. He gently sat on his white couch placing his legs on the wooden stool before him leaning his head to the back.

What was it about her that was working him out so much? He hadn’t even expected to see his mate today. He attacked the auction in plan to kill Michael and end the threat he was to him, but seeing her made his heart skip.

All these times, he had wondered how his mate was going to look like. She looked so beautiful to him; he had wondered what good thing he did to be blessed with such an angelic person like her.

He frowned at the thought that he hit him. She had the strong scent of a wolf but she is completely oblivious to the werewolf community. She didn’t even know the meaning of a pack house.

He didn’t want to tell her afraid of her reaction after finding out she was living with a pack of wolves. The worse part that, she was one of them. He sighed not knowing what to do.

The door burst open revealing a raging blonde-haired guy with green-orbed eyes pacing up and down in the room. Liam Anderson, the Beta of White fangs Pack and most important Corey’s best friend. He rolled his eyes not understanding why his Beta was furious.

“What is it now, Liam?” he asked folding his arms calmly.

“It’s Ella! She’s driving me crazy. One moment she’s the lovely and caring mate I want, another second, she is the scariest devil I’d ever seen. I did everything a girl would possibly like; I bought her flowers, chocolates, took her out on a date, kiss her lips badly telling her how much I love her”  he paused to catch his breath.

“And then she goes ahead saying I don’t consider her opinion and her desires. What the hell does she mean by that? Where’s the complete sense in that, Corey?” he asked finally after his ranting.

“Would you calm down for a bit, please? I’m trying to take a short nap here.”

“That’s supposed to make me feel better, right asshole?”

Corey groaned in frustration getting up from the couch knowing he wouldn’t be able to sleep thanks to his best of friends.

“What exactly happened, Liam?” he asked. Liam froze on a spot staring at him in shock.

“Haven’t you being listening? She told me that I don’t-”

“I heard that already. I’m demanding for what led to that” he replied causing his beta to scratch the back of his neck with guilt flashing in his eyes.

“We had a small fight about me not being there for her most of the time. Look, I told her its work and all but she cut me off saying I don’t listen to her desires and opinions. Does that even make any sense?”

“No, it doesn’t for you. That’s because you are the unreasonable one” his eyes widened at his Alpha’s words.

“How does…you know what forget about it. I’ll just go meet Leo. You really suck at relationship maybe that’s why you’ve not found your mate yet” he blurted out ready to leave.

“You’re wrong, Liam”

“What?”

“Mia Rivers. That’s her name”

“Nice try. You almost got me but you’ll have to try harder, Corey”

“I’m not lying and if you don’t believe me go fuck yourself”

“That’s the girl you weirdly bought at Michael’s auction today”

“She’s the one. Why did you think I bought her then, to sell?” he sat on the bed.

“She didn’t seem like a wolf, Corey”

“She is, but she doesn’t even know and that’s the worse part of it, Liam. What if I tell her and she freaks out?” he sat down next to him patting his back.

“You’ll have to tell her sooner or later. She’s going to be your Luna one day”

“Yes, I guess. I will tell later in the future maybe” he stated causing his Beta to smile at him weirdly.

“What?”

“Does this means you’re done with that bitch of yours?”

“Who?”

“Allison, off course” Liam stated rolling his eyes.

“Oh, that’s right. It’s not like we were ever a thing; she was just there to fulfil my sexual desires and you know that”

“Yeah, but she doesn’t seems to know” he shrugged getting up to leave still smiling. He opened the door turning to look at me.

“I’m happy for you, Corey. Welcome to the frustration world of having a mate. Thanks for lifting my mood anyway, I can’t wait to see her” he slammed the door.

He lay his back down on the king-sized bed still thinking of her. He can’t show her his friendly side yet, she will think of him as a psycho. He has to be strict with her for a while.

He sighed ready for the journey with his mate.
