Chapter 6

Aurora Tate sat on one of the chairs the nurses had provided for her.She looked on forlornly like she had lost all reason to live.

Amber Hill came in few hours later after Aurora had narrated everything to her in tears on the phone.

She sat quietly beside her unable to find the right words to say.

"How..how are they?" she finally found her voice.

A bold tear fell through Aurora's cheek.

"Father's still undergoing treatment, mother's blood pressure shot up.. it's.. it's.." her lips trembled "Critical."

Amber pulled her into an embrace.

"We.. we're married Amber" she cried on her shoulders "I..I had to sign it"

"It's enough now, Aurora" she wiped her tears "That's enough crying."

She held her face.

"Just..just look at how red and puffed out your face is. It's enough"

"It hurts,Amber!" voiced out Aurora.

The bodyguards that Luca Genovese had stationed by her side turned their attention to her.

They shot her a menacing stare but she was seriously angry to stop talking.

Besides,how else would she vent her anger? She couldn't beat off all these huge bodyguards.She also cannot turn back the hands of time nor could she divorce the Mafia.

"Keep your voice do-"

"No,Amber! Let him hear it! He is such a coward..I mean how..how could he result to..to such a cheap means of making me marry him!"

"It's shameless of him! And he thinks that I would acknowledge him as my husband?! Never!!"

"Aurora.." Amber tried to stop her from talking.

"Leave me,Amber! My father could have died!" more tears rushed down from her eyes "His legs could get amputated!!"

"It's the best hospital present in Riverdale." began the youngest of the bodyguard "They would surely treat him-"

"Shut your stupid mouth up!" Aurora moved towards the bodyguard.

Amber pulled on her arm,however she snatched it away.

"What gives your boss the right to shoot at a person?? Bringing him to the best hospital doesn't wipe off the pain he felt!" she ranted

"Madam,I suggest you keep quiet." the meanest of them pushed her backwards "You don't want to piss the Don off"

"You-" Aurora raised her hand and simultaneously the bodyguards placed their gun at her.

Amber held her hand back.

"That's enough,Aurora!" she screamed as she went and stood in front of her,shielding her from the mouth of the gun.

The doctor came just then.

On seeing the guns and the bodyguards he remained where he was.

"He's.. he's awake ma'am"

Amber thanked God for the arrival of the doctor as she pushed Aurora who was still glaring at the guards into the room.

"Aurora" her father called as she rushed into his arm and cried.

"I'm sorry my love." he apologized "I'm sorry I had to make life this hard."

He shook his head.

"I'm sorry that..that you had to marry the man who isn't your choice"

He held her hands with his frail ones.

"I promise that I'll try my best" he nodded "I'll work hard and pay all the debt then you'll get a divorce from him,okay princess?"

Aurora reluctantly nodded and then suddenly thought of something.

"Dad..this..this hospital bills? Is.. is.." she began

"I'm sure it's part of my debt" he lamented "But don't worry.Everything will be fine"

Aurora had a lot to say but she rather decided to keep it in seeing that he was weak and needed a little more rest.

Shortly after that,she left the room.Amber was nowhere to be found and so also were the bodyguards.

Aurora was glad that they'd gone.However as she sauntered on her way to her mother's ward,some nurses openly gossiped about her.

"Isn't she the one who ditched the Mafia?"

"I guess so.Look how sorrowful she looks.Tch!"

"Pft! How could she even dare refuse to marry the Mafia! Aside from the fact he's bad he's definitely handsome!"

"What do you think?" interjected one of the nurses "She's rejecting him because it's a shame and disgrace to be married off as a collateral!"

"Hmm..I think that's true because I can't think of any other possible reasons!"

Aurora Tate pushed the door to her mother's ward open and slammed it shut behind her.She didn't want to hear any of it anymore.

As it was her head ached so badly and she didn't need more problems.

However the moment she raised her head,her eyes interlocked with that of her mother's own.

Full of hatred.

Aurora wondered what she had done to warrant this?

She had even dropped out of school so her father could have enough money to cure her mother's illness.

Still it felt like her best wasn't good enough.

She began walking towards the bed.

"Stop."

Aurora's leg hanged in the air,coming down slowly.

"You filial daughter! And you still had the efforntory to show your face to me!!" she reprimanded

"What more do you want?! We gave you a well respected husband! Loaded with money! Beautiful mansion! Handsome with built up muscles!"

"What else do you girls want?! So what? He's bad? Is there a perfect man in this world?! No? Show me!"

She was glaring so hard at Aurora that the latter feared for her blood pressure.

"In return you gave us pain! Hardship! Leave my sight before I say something you will regret!"

Aurora sighed.

"You should rest mother." she tried her best to be calm even through she was trembling.

"I have married him already."

Mrs Tate looked up at her.

"He shot father and used that to blackmail me."

Mrs Tate scoffed "If you had been obedient earlier then none of us would have had to go through so much!"

"Just look! He had to shoot your father just to get you back to your senses! Foolish!"

Aurora placed her hand on the knob.

"Good night,mother"

....

"Amber??" Aurora felt like something was amiss.

Suddenly the hospital felt eerie and awfully quiet.

"Amber??" she called again as her heeled boot screeched on the neatly tiled floors.

"Mrs Genovese."

Aurora stopped.She immediately knew who the owner of that voice was.

She turned as saw that her guess was right.It was the bodyguard.

"Mrs Genovese isn't here" she responded "Go home, you'll find her"

She watched a smirk form on his face.

"How long will you continue to act stubborn? Don't you see things only get worse because of your actions?" he only said this because her sight looked terribly awful.

Her eyes were swollen and her body only sagged along.

"I don't need you to lecture me." she stopped him on his tracks "Where is my friend?"

"She's left.The Don is waiting for you in the car"

Aurora bursted into a weak laughter.

"So your boss is that shameless? After forcing me to marry him he wants to start acting like a husband?? Shameless!"

The bodyguard had never seen any woman this feisty.He had less to worry because his boss was equally fierce.

"I'm not going anywhere with him!" she snapped as she turned her back and began to walk away.

Perhaps she was expecting the bodyguard to come after her or possibly drag her out,however he left without another argument.

Aurora sighed, thinking she'd finally had space to rest.

However the instant she rested her head on the wall she heard the sounds of boot coming into the hospital.

She didn't at first react thinking it was just one of the doctors.

Due to that,she relaxed and bothered less

Until,two large hands grabbed her arms tightly releasing a loud gasp from her lips.

It was then she saw how close they were to each other.They stared at each other.

A pair of light grey eyes staring angrily at a pair of hazel ones.

He jerked her up from the seat.

"Don't make me show you how much of a bastard I can be"
