Chapter 3

Author: Perfect Timing
There must have been at least 30 condoms in that photo, showing just how wild Shane's night had been.

However, he said 'just'? Didn't he leave with Wren a little while ago?

A wave of doubt crashed over me, and my hands shook as I zoomed in on the photo to take a closer look. That was when I saw the tattoo on the woman's back—it was just like Wren's.

I was so mad that I could not hold back. I grabbed my phone and called Wren right away.

However, to my surprise, Shane picked up.

He acted like he did not know a thing and said in a calm voice, "Mr. Gibson, are you looking for Wren? Oh, she's asleep right now. If it's not important, let's not wake her, okay?"

When I heard those shameless words, I was so mad that I yelled, "You two cheaters! Tell me! What have you done to me? Why do I suffer every time you go out flirting with women?"

However, Shane did not answer. He was too busy boasting in his group chat about not having enough fun and wanting to look for more women to party with all night.

I felt so sick that I started throwing up like crazy, shaking all over because I was so weak.

Shane acted like he did not get it at all.

"Jasper, are you imagining things? You're the one with the problem, but you blame me. You're not just jealous because I'm better at this than you, are you? You're just trying to make Wren like you again by pretending and talking trash about me, huh?

"Well, if you admit you're pretending, I'll stop flirting around."

A new user called "Crimson Queen" had appeared in the group chat, and it instantly dredged up the awful memories of getting sick in my previous life.

Worried he would cause more trouble, I finally said with tears in my eyes, "Yes, you're right! I'm just pretending. Happy now?"

Right then, I heard Wren's angry voice on the other end of the phone. "Jasper, you're hopeless! I want a divorce!"

Shane just laughed and hung up.

After feeling super dizzy again, I used the last bit of my strength to call for an ambulance.

Luckily, they got here fast, and I woke up six hours later.

However, the doctor could not figure out what was wrong with me.

I did not ask any more questions and just asked to leave the hospital. I ran straight to Shane's place. As soon as I swung the door open, I pressed a knife right up to his throat.

"J-Jasper, what in the world are you doing?" he stammered.

I was done playing games with him and glared with all my might. "I'm not here to make small talk. Out with it! Why am I getting sick from all your nasty dating games?"

Shane looked at me with puppy-dog eyes. "What are you even talking about? You don't actually think everyone's out to get you, do you?"

I yelled at the top of my lungs, "Cut the act! Talk, now!"

Shane let out a yelp. "Alright, alright, I'll spill the beans!"

However, in a flash, he switched to a look of sorrow: "Wren, help me!"

Before I knew it, Wren had crept up behind me and smashed a vase over my head. Blood poured out instantly.

"Jasper, how could you lay a finger on Shane? You're asking for trouble!"

Wren did not waste a second and called the cops, saying I needed to be taught a lesson.

With the room suddenly full of officers, Wren played them a recording from that night with Shane.

"Officer, Jasper's convinced Shane's out to get him, but just listen, he admitted he's just been pretending! He even pulled a knife on Shane today. Clearly, he's lost his marbles. Aren't you going to arrest him?"

The cops were on the fence until they heard my voice in the recording. "Yes, exactly! I was only pretending."

Their expressions turned stern, and they slapped cuffs on me.

They warned me seriously, "You're in big trouble for threatening someone's life!"

I fought like crazy, trying to get my words out, but then I caught Shane out of the corner of my eye, laughing and chugging vodka without a care in the world.

Suddenly, my throat felt like it was being squeezed by an invisible hand.

I could not control my arms and legs. They were shaking and twitching as I tried to ask the people around me for help.

However, Wren just laughed calmly.

"See, officer? This faker is putting on a show again! Today's your chance to see it for yourself!"

The stranger in the robe mumbled a bunch of strange spells, and I felt like bugs were biting me all over. It hurt so much that I could not help but yell. "Shane, Wren! What are you doing to me?" Shane watched me in pain and laughed like a madman. "Hahaha, we're using a spell from Southwind Asira to transfer all my sickness and bad reactions to you! How else am I supposed to have fun with the ladies later?" Wren added, "This spell is super wicked. Normally, a person can only undergo it once. Wren was quiet on the phone, not saying a word for the longest time. It was not until she heard the nurse say I could leave the hospital that she finally asked me, "Are you all better now?"I did not want to deal with her too much, and I was about to hang up, but then Wren's crying stopped me."Honey, what are you going to do when you leave the hospital?""What's it to you?" My voice was icy, but Wren suddenly seemed to switch gears, sounding all sad and sorry as she spoke to me."Honey, I know it's all my fault for favoring Shane too much lately, and that's made you upset with me. But I've realized my mistake, and I know I shouldn't have snapped at you. I've seen how kind you've been to me all this time."Can you please come to Southwind Asira and pick me up? I promise I'll come back with you, and we'll have a good life."Was Wren, after getting enough of Shane's rough treatment these past few days, hoping for me to step in?I could not figure out what Wren was really up to, bu
