“what I’m I doing here?” the teenager was hyperventilating, with black look on his face.
Doctor Dave stood beside the teenager; he had a dumbfounded look on his face. Nurse Nne was there too. She tried to inject the teenager with anesthesia
“what are you injecting him with?” Patricia walked to Nne, and held her hands, stopping her from injecting the teenager.
Dave gave Patricia a glowering look, but Patricia ignored him.
“what is wrong with him?” Morris had a taut in his voice
“I came to check on him, he was still sleeping, then I touched his arm, trying to check his pulse, then he woke, and started screaming, we’ve been trying to calm him down”
Morris made an effort to move towards his son, but as he approached, his son became more scared, and drew back.
Patricia noticed “stop” she told Morris, then she walked towards the boy
“mom! Please help me” the boy called out, with a beatific expression on his face.
There was a moment of silence in the room, it was almost as if the whole world, after that statement, they each shared gaze at each other
“do you have an idea of what he is talking about?” Dave finally broke the silence, looking at Morris.
Morris shrugged “I have no idea, his mother, my wife is dead”
“now that is strange” Dave uttered
The teenage boy sat up on his bed, smiling, he was calm now.
“is that a bad thing? Will he be fine?” Morris’ eyes became moist, as he inquired from Dave.
“we…we can’t be sure right now, we are as clueless as you are right now, but we will definitely find out what is wrong with him, just remain calm”
“you can go ahead with the injection Nne” Patricia gestured to the teenager.
Nne did as instructed, after some time, they all watched as the teenager gradually shut his eyes. Then they walked out of the room, leaving the teenager alone on his bed.
Patricia was the last person to walk out of the room, so she shut the door behind her.
"So Morris wife is late" Patricia said to herself after the minutes of silence and trying to register the whole situation in her head. It made her feel pity towards the boy and something in her was compelling her to give it her best in making sure he's back on track. Poor him, what would she have done without her own mother. She shaked off the feeling as a new one sweep over her. So that means Morris is currently single. " Gosh Patricia that's unprofessional besides it's none of your business" she reprimanded herself. What's up with the Morris guy anyway.
She approached Morris, who was already some steps away from the door. His hands folded, he seemed afar.
“you look devastated” Patricia held Morris at his back, then walked to his front.
“I am; he doesn’t deserve what is happening to him. The person that did this to him, I hope he dies a horrible death.” Morris replied in a sad tone, tears welling up at the brim of his eyes.
“I know you are hurt; you have every right to be, just calm down” Patricia held both of Morris hands, assuring him. “we will do everything within our power to make sure he gets fine, I’m positive he will be fine, trust me”
Morris looked at Patricia’s hands in his, then he gave a little but noticeable smile. “thank you” he muttered with a look of appereciation. Damn this lady really is a professional nurse. Judging from how she handles patient with empathy and sympathy.
Patricia simply nodded her head in response.

“How are you doing?” Patricia held the teenagers's hands
The teenager lied on the bed, as he moped at Patricia, then his eyes became wet, and in a couple of seconds, the tears cascaded down his face.
“will I ever get fine? One second I’m normal, and the next, I don’t have a clue of what is happening around me” he said, the last words drowning in his sobs.
“yes, sure you will be fine, I am doing everything in my power to make sure you get well” she answered him with a comforting and reassuring smile.
Patricia POVI opened my eyes, and I was back to the real world, I felt a slight headache, I managed to sit up, peering around, to remember where I was, the memory from last night vanished, I only managed to grab some, before they disappeared, while I managed to rearrange the little of the memory I had left, I saw Morris walk into the sitting room, he wore a black shirt that fit into his masculine figure so perfectly, my eyes couldn’t help but notice the visible contours on his chest, PS: even with the shirt. It was as if he was made for the shirt, and the shirt made for him. He definitely wouldn't look out of place in a fashion magazine. “good morning Patricia” he beamed at me, so brightly. He carried a tray in his hands“good morning Morris”“hope you slept well” he placed the tray at the center table in the sitting room, “I made breakfast”“yes, I did, I slept well, thank you” I blushed, “what did you make for breakfast?”He opened the bo
MORRIS POVComing out from the bathroom, I walked into the bedroom, I’ve missed my king-sized bed for long, my back ached to lay on the soft bed. I let myself fall on the bed, it felt so good to finally be on the bed, I covered the blanket, I let my mind wander to nurse Patricia, it was hard not to think about her, she was the only person I looked forward to seeing every morning, for the past ten, or eleven days (give or take), she had a way of erupting smiles from people’s faces, well except for Dave, those two behave like cat and dog, sometimes it’s a wonderful sight to behold, seeing two people passionate about their jobs, I smile at the thought of them. I stretched to turn of the lamp by my bed. The whole environment was so silent; I could hear the tick of my table clock, it’s always been like this, but because I had slept in the hospital for a number of days, that was always busy, even at night, it felt strange being home again, where I slept in quietness. I wasn’t feeli
PATRICIA'S POVI woke up my usual time, 5am, to prepare for work, I forgot I was suspended from work, my body was already accustomed to waking up this early to prepare for work, but not today, I had no idea what I would do today. So many thoughts ran through my mind, should I go out? Even if I wanted to, I had no place to be, I was a loner, my job made me keep away from any form of friendship, I gave my life to this job, it gave me satisfaction, the kind that so many people are deprived from at their jobs. I sat up on the bed, and leaned on the headboard, then I began to reflect on what actually happened yesterday, and the day before, the life changing moments of my life. I expected a query, because Dave said so, and then I got a suspension, signed by Dave, that man has really got it in for me, I shook those thoughts of my head, if I thought about it too much, I might begin to have suicidal thoughts, that I didn’t want, because I might not know how to handle them.
The dark cloudy night was followed by a bright beautiful morning. But no matter how beautiful the morning was, it was just another day of work stress. Patricia arrived at the hospital earlier than usual, the traffic that morning was less.. she went in to the changing room, she changed into her scrubs, and headed for the patient’s rooms. she peeped at Mr. James room, he was still sleeping, Patricia smiled and went to the next room. She derived pleasure in doing what she was doing, it’s what she knows how to do best, taking care of people, it’s what she was born for this kind of stuff. You could see job satisfaction all over her, it was so obvious, which made her stand out among other nurses. She gets to Christopher’s door, she peeps, he is awake, moping at the ceiling, Patricia enters, smiling“good morning nurse Patricia” Christopher’s voice was comely“good morning Christopher, hope you slept well”“yes, I did” Christopher smiled, “I didn’t get the chance to a
Christopher’s door flung open, as Dr. Dave walked out like a bulldozer, waiting to crush a wall, he had his white coat, and his stethoscope around his neck, apparently, he came to run a check on Christopher, he headed for the nurse’s desk, “where is Christopher?” Dave said with rage, as he approached Nne, who sat at the nurse’s desk.“Christopher! I…”“yes Christopher, the teenage patient, where is he?” Dave’s tone rose, like a train, blaring its horn Nne became sweaty all of a sudden, “I don’t know where he is sir, isn’t he in his room?”“if he was in his room would I ask you? Where is Patricia by the way? It’s forty minutes past the break time” Dave said, looking at his wristwatch “she stepped out; she is not back yet”“when she comes back make her see me” Dave said with a commanding voice“ok sir, I will”Dave was about going back to his office when Patricia and Christopher barge in from the hospital in a hurry, but they p
The next day Patricia and Christopher walked into the dentist hospital, it was fifty minutes past one noon. “I’ll sit here waiting for you” Patricia gestured to one of the seats at the waiting room“ok then, I’ll go look for her, I’m sure they are getting her prepared” Christopher walked into a slimmer lobby, leaving Patricia at the waiting room. Then a door opened, an elderly woman came out, she was Priscilla’s mom“good day ma” Christopher said, as he bowed to greet her“Christopher what brings you here? I thought you are in the hospital”“yes ma, I was but I came to be with Priscilla, since this is her last appointment”“that is very thoughtful of you, I’m sure Pricillia would be thrilled to see you, she’s in that room, the next turn by your right, the first door you see”“Alright ma, thank you” Christopher said and scurried away.Getting to the door, Christopher knocked, he got a permission from someone inside the
