Not a Nerd

Samuel Russo was the second most annoying person I had ever met in my whole life. So I had no idea why I was still waiting in the coffee shop near the school for him.

Maybe it had something to do with the fact that we had a history to do and it was going to be graded, even if I wasn't in control of my life I wished to be in control of my grades.

I brought out my phone and began taking some notes on the topic as I slowly drank from my cup of hot chocolate that was labeled coffee to make me look mature.

One hour had passed and he didn't show up. I packed my bag and left the shop. The more I tried to wrap my head around the situation, the more anger built inside of me. It was hard but I decided to forgive him and gave him another chance and this is how he decided to pay me back by standing me up for our project.

Samuel Russo. You will not be given the right to treat me like trash anymore.

I drove home and surprisingly my parents were not home yet. There were some signs that they had come over, maybe for a change of clothes and for food but there was no sign of them being around presently, I hurriedly went to my sister's room to check if she was there but she wasn't. Her room was the same way it was before she was taken to the hospital. I was used to being home alone but it didn't mean that I liked it.

I brought out my books and began doing my homework on the floor in the middle of my living room. I was halfway through when I heard a knock on the front door. Elated that it could be my family, I hurriedly ran to open the door but the person I saw on the other side wiped the smile from my face.

“I've never seen anyone this angry to see me before,” Samuel said.

“Well there's a first time for everything” I replied and attempted to shut the door but he stopped it with his hand. He was really strong. I kept trying to close the door but his grip on it was too strong. After a minute of struggling with the door and making a fool of myself, I gave up and let go of the door.

Without hiding the annoyance in me I asked

“What do you want?”

He let his gaze fall to the ground.

“I'm sorry” he quietly said.

“And what are you sorry for?” I asked feeling a little cocky, I did not expect him to show up here and mostly I didn't expect an apology but since he was already apologizing why not push it a little further.

He placed his right hand on his head, let out a big sigh, and tucked his two hands into his pockets. His demeanor almost made me feel bad about making him explain, he made it look like it was so hard.

Finally, he opened his mouth to speak.

“I'm sorry for not showing up at the coffee shop, it wasn't intentional, something came up and I had to be there”

“And?”

“Geez, Bree, okay I'm sorry for overreacting when you touched my hair, but in my defense. I've never liked anyone touching my hair” he struggled to say the words but at least the words were able to come out.

I looked up and seeing the look in his eyes, all the anger in me evaporated and I was left feeling sorry.

“I'm also sorry for touching your hair, it is not like me to touch peoples hair”

The look disappeared and a smile replaced it on his lips.

“So I took your advice and changed my hairstyle”

I raised my eyes to his hair and fought the urge to put my hand through it.

“Yeah, I noticed. It looks good on you”

“Hopefully not too good to make you want to touch it again” he chuckled and I also chuckled creating an atmosphere for laughs.

“I promise I won't touch it” I replied once the laughter had died down.

“Since I'm here already, should we continue with the project?”

“Ok cool”

I stepped aside and let him walk in, which he did. I made sure to lock the door behind him. He surveyed the books scattered on the floor and laughed while shaking his head slightly.

“You're such a nerd,” he said trying to control his laughter.

“Doing my homework doesn't make me a nerd”

“Whatever you say, nerd”

“Sammy” she growled playfully giving him a look.

“What did you just call me?”

“Sammy? Why? You don't like it?”

“No, it's fine just don't say that in public,” He said taking a seat on the floor beside the books.

I sat down on the floor and brought out the book where I had made some notes concerning the project.

“Okay, so this is what I've gotten so far. Getting the notes isn't hard, the hard part is how we are going to present it”

Sam put a hand under his chin and stroked the imaginary facial hair that was nowhere to be seen. It looked a bit funny but I knew that he was trying to think so I held my laughter in and waited for him to speak.

“We can present it in drawings, like animation but it'll be hand-drawn” he explained.

“That's a good idea but do you know someone who can draw?”

“I'm not exactly perfect at drawing but I can try to do something”

“Okay since its settled, ill compile all the necessary notes, then you'll put them into an image”

“Okay it's settled, we will have to meet again to talk about it, my place?

“Okay but only because you have servants that would probably make delicious snacks”

A smirk played on his lips.

“Why do you need additional snacks when you already have a snack here”

I laughed hysterically and looked at him.

“If you're referring to yourself as a snack I'd rather eat only vegetables”

“Wow, princess, that hurt”
