Chapter 2 Travel to a Bridal Sedan Chair

The actual transfer was only one and a half minutes, but it felt so much longer.

“Twenty seconds.”

Her head felt like it would explode. Through the glass wall, she could see the researchers watching her in white coats.

She forced herself to endure the pain, but she was beginning to slip in and out of consciousness.

“Thirty seconds.”

The rest of her body exploded with pain. She wondered if her internal organs had begun to burst under the pressure.

At thirty eight seconds, she could no longer bear it.

Before she lost consciousness completely, Su Qingge saw her teacher’s face, not far away, filled with concern.

The vibration had been too much for a fragile human body. Even a few seconds was enough to destroy her.

She managed one last thought before the darkness took her.

‘I cannot accept this.’

Her senses were muddled, but she could feel a deep ache that went right down to her bones.

Wasn’t she dead? She had felt her organs burst. Even the most advanced technology couldn’t save her from that.

‘A little bit of Endless Grass will kill an individual by attacking their nervous system.’

‘Heartbroken Flower has intense paralytic effects that can cause permanent injury to adults.’

‘Seven-Day Bollworm and Wushan Insect have highly corrosive venom.’

‘…’

A ceaseless stream of information ran through Su Qingge’s brain. Her head felt bloated with it.

Working with her teacher, she’d focused on western medicine. This felt more like traditional Chinese medicine, but the names were so strange. She’d never heard of any of them.

The corner of her mouth felt odd and she tried to wipe at it. What came away was black and red. It looked like some sort of polluted blood, but the smell wasn’t quite right.

The world around her was red, and, more puzzlingly, shaking.

Where was she? What the hell had happened?

Su Qingge slowly sifted through the new information in her head. She estimated that she had data on 118 different poisons.

She could not help but be astonished. So many ways to take a life. How much hatred was there? How many grudges.

Digesting to flood of information, Su Qingge finally let herself revel in her success. The implant was working. They had done it. The next Nobel Prize in medicine would go to her and the dean. But-

Why could she hear bronze drums?

Su Qingge, usually so calm and analytical, could not explain the red cloth that surrounded her. It was so bright and dazzling. And the strange, irregular shaking.

She was considered a distant beauty by her classmates, but as she began to put the clues together, she froze.

Was this a bridal sedan chair?

She looked down at her clothes. The bright red dress had a pair of mandarin ducks embroidered in gold silk. It looked like a wedding dress from an ancient dynasty.

What the hell was happening?

Sn Qingge took a deep breath and a thought came to her. Could this be another world? Was that possible?

And if she’d really come to another world, who’s sedan chair was she sitting in?
