Sally's POV

Athena exclaimed excitedly as she stretched her arms over her head, very relaxed. "That's great." She chirped, her eyes still sparkling like a kid in a candy store.

"What?" I pretended not to know anything.

The girl is clueless, okay.

"The whole movie." She grinned like a Cheshire cat.

I smirked. "Are you sure that's the whole movie or do you mean the part where the male lead is shirtless?" We just finished watching the movie Dracula: Untold.

Athena giggled like a crazy girl. I know her too well. I shook my head in disapproval. "You can see for yourself if that's all you want to see." I walked ahead of her, my stomach grumbling hungrily. I skipped lunch and dinner, of course.

Athena pouted. "Where are you going?"

I rolled my eyes. "Try to find food."

"Why don't you say so, I know a place."

Narrow your eyes and judge her - this girl is crazy, I tell you. Athena dragged me to a restaurant not far from the movie theater.

I was already sitting when suddenly I heard someone calling me. "Sister Sally." I scanned the crowd immediately for any impending threats. Then I saw a familiar lazy-looking boy with a bored-looking friend following him.

"Allen," I grumbled silently. One of the reasons why I don't like mingling in public, especially in a small town like this. You meet people you met at school or work.

I don't mean to say that Allen is a bad kid, it's just that I feel like I exposed a part of me even though I didn't do anything illegal. Frustrating. And most conversations always start with "What are you doing here?"

I mean, what else would I do at a restaurant if I didn't eat there? Work there, maybe, but come on. Start the conversation with something new.

The guys approached us excitedly, well, at least one of them. I, on the other hand, mentally insisted on digging a hole and dying. Well, not literally.

Athena gave me a questioning look. I didn't tell her I made friends. I avoided her eyes and my eyes remained on the boys.

"What are you doing here?" Allen asked, beaming, enthusiastic. Please shoot me now.

I glanced down at the menu that was open in front of me. "Uh... Order?"

The boy chuckled. "Yes, of course." He remembered his friend looking bored behind his back when I had nothing more to say. "Ah. This is my friend, Simon."

I nodded in acknowledgment. "Uhm... this is Athena, my friend."

"Best friend," She corrected, waving her index finger in front of her face, never taking her eyes off the poor boys.

Allen's friend Simon was then caught staring and something he said made me very uncomfortable. "So... this, is her? Not bad."

My appetite was long forgotten. What is this kid talking about? Have we met before? Allen, on the other hand, seemed a bit confused. "I... I told him what happened at the library," He laughed nervously.

What happened was, I was looking for a book for an assignment of mine at the campus library and we happened to bump into each other's paths at the Technology department.

I was too engrossed in searching for that assigned book and accidentally bumped into him. I didn't want to cause a scene, so I apologized. And then the guy tried to flirt with me, using a bad line. God knows who taught him that. I wish to never hear it again.

He said he was practicing flirting when I caught him. I looked him straight in the eyes and told him he didn't have to flirt, he could smile and girls would kiss the ground he walked on. I don't know what made me say those things.

The boy is ignorant and naive about his good looks. I mean, why didn't anyone tell him he looked hot? He looked very nice, pleasing to the eye, but I told him he wasn't my type and that disappointed him.

But, suddenly and unexpectedly, I offered to help him attract the attention of some girls and gain a few admirers.

We exchanged basic introductions, he was a freshman, majoring in medicine, not sure exactly what he planned to become but he was a medical student.

And that's how I got a new friend. I'm making some progress here for trying not to be antisocial or whatever the hell Athena has sprouted about me not making enough friends to make memories.

I didn't tell him much except my name, age, and that I was a hybrid of a child. And that's all he needed to know.

Why didn't Athena go to school that day? Because she has a hangover.

I don't know why but whatever that friend of Allen said, really didn't sit well with my stomach.

I looked at both of them as if they were a pair of walking time bombs, and it seemed like Allen was the easiest to crack.

"We'll go now, enjoy your dinner." He said, too cheerfully for my liking.

All I could do was, nod and watch them leave. Their backs revealed the fact that they were arguing, about something I was curious to learn about.

"Oh my God, they're a bunch of freaks. Where did you find them?" Athena asked.

"I just met one of them, the languid one, at the library when you were hungover." I shrugged, my eyes still scanning the menu.

The girl gasped. “I, never leave you alone again.”

I chuckled. "Hey! Allen isn't that bad, he's a freshman."

"Freshman or not, I don't care." She scoffed and ordered a meal of fish and chips for both of us.

During dinner, Athena talked about the movie again, about how hot the male lead was, and asked the question if I drank blood, to which I answered simply no.

When we finished dinner we decided to leave, we both went our separate ways because I never showed up or brought Athena to my house, simply because I didn't want her to get more involved in my life. It's dangerous enough to be my friend.
