49. Dig Deeper

Ivanna's POV

Jason walked me down the hallway of his mansion and then through a path that led us to a garden surrounding a lake. I'd never seen such a beautiful place before.

Jason told me a lot of things I didn't understand about my first life, how long he waited for this day to arrive, and a thousand stories that didn't fit my knowledge at all. However, to avoid trouble, I chose to listen, even though not everything I could accept with common sense.

He kept talking about me in my first life as if I loved him so much. I couldn't remember if it was true that I loved this man so much, but that was what he had been saying all along.

"So what does Jax have to do with all this—if I may know?" I asked, which meant I was ready to hear the bedtime story Jason might tell, or just the opposite—it could be that this story would be so scary that I couldn't keep my eyes closed.
