Selena’s POV

I took only what I needed, opting for leggings and hoodies since I soon was going to be sprouting a baby bump. I knew that for humans within the first three months of pregnancy were marred by much uncertainty. A lot of women experienced miscarriages or other complications during the first months, so nothing was certain.

Well, werewolves didn’t have that “problem”. Once a fetus attached itself, they stayed there until they were born. So I knew this baby was going to stay in my belly until it felt like it was ready to come out. Of course, there was the option of abortion, but---

It just wasn’t the right choice for me…

I’d never pondered it much, feeling that it was every woman’s right to choose for herself. But right now, the idea of getting rid of this baby---

I just couldn’t think about it…

“I’ve disabled the GPS in this car, but

  • Surrogate to the Blood Alpha   Epilogue

Selena’s POVToday’s the day!I was going to meet Rain’s wolf! And yes, I was just about to shit my pants. But for the first time since forever, I wasn’t terrified at the prospect of seeing a wolf.I was actually excited! It had been a year since everything went down. The war was finally over – really over! – and everything had fallen into place. The Sanctuary Packs had been reinstated, the laws had been mended, and the Alpha Counsel had been re-established. The inner court of the Royal Palace was back in order, and everything was finally the way it was supposed to be…And now it was time for me to meet my mate!Well, the other part of my mate…Over time, we’d been working on some exposure therapy. It began small – very small! As in pictures and stuffed animals small. Then we moved on to watching short videos of

  • Surrogate to the Blood Alpha   Chapter 142: A Father's Hand

Selena’s POVEvery time the bell over the door chimed, I jumped. My nerves were crawling on the outside of my skin, and my stomach had been transformed into a murder of crows that were flapping their wings excessively, making me feel sick...“Don’t be nervous, my Azure,” Rain comforted me, taking my hand in his and kissing it. “Everything will be fine.”“Well, not everyone is born with nerves of steel,” I huffed, trying to reach for my cup of tea, but my hands were shaking so badly that I couldn’t lift it without it shaking like a leaf.I was about to meet Peter McCullough, my biological father, whom I hadn’t seen since I was two years old. After Rain handed me the envelope with the information, I’d read through it a million times. There wasn’t anything too personal – which I appreciated. At least Rain hadn’t gone all stalker mode on this guy, alt

  • Surrogate to the Blood Alpha   Chapter 141: Rare Moments like These

Selena’s POV“What’s a coronation without some family drama?” Stella huffed, echoing what I’d just said. “What’s a werewolf coronation without a little blood?! Girl! Are you even hearing yourself?! You could have died!”“Rain would never have let that happen,” I replied confidently, and pondered my next move.I was on bed rest, and because I hated being at the castle, I’d been allowed to go back home to my pack. So now I was working from my bed--- well, currently I was playing a game of poker because Stella still insisted that I needed rest.“I still think what he did was extremely reckless,” Alisa sighed, watching as Jason and Azul were having a small play in their playpen. The two boys were both blissfully unaware of all the drama going on around them. After I’d closed my eyes, Rain had charged at Ryan with such speed, nobody saw him coming. He&rs

  • Surrogate to the Blood Alpha   Chapter 140: Nothing but the Truth!

Selena’s POV“I, Rain Blood, King of the werewolves---”As he spoke, terror coursed through my body as I relived the memory. As everything clicked into place and that missing puzzle piece finally revealed itself…It was Ryan!It was him all along...“NO!”I screamed, my voice carrying across the hall and over the shocked assembly, who all growled their anger and disgust at Ryan’s cowardly move. King or not – Alpha or not! – This was not the way to honor a challenge.“Be quiet!”Ryan bellowed, foaming at his mouth. His wolf had long since deteriorated into madness, only clinging to life because of his obsession with power. But like fuck I was going to let that stop me!“Rain, listen to me!” I continued, my dull fingertips digging into his hands, desperately trying to keep him from stabbing his

  • Surrogate to the Blood Alpha   Chapter 139: Drunk Words are Sober Thoughts

11 years ago...Rain’s POVI snuck into the throne room, expecting it to be empty this time of night. The fire in the great fireplace was slowly dying down, its embers glowing faintly and casting long shadows along the floor. Which was why a dark, looming shadow standing in front of the thrones scared me nearly out of my skin.“Ryan,” I exclaimed, stumbling a bit because I was somewhat drunk. “You’re not supposed to be out when I’m out.”And then snorted out loud…Well, technically, it had been Ryan’s day out in the open. I was supposed to be locked up in our room, but had snuck out. Using a scented cologne to mask my scent and the alias – Rain – that we used when we were together, I’d gone out to have some fun.And maybe it had been a little too much fun...Ryan didn’t reply, but he did spare me a glance, looking

  • Surrogate to the Blood Alpha   Chapter 138: A Fight to the Death

Selena’s POVI sucked in a breath, wishing I could mentally prepare for what was about to happen. I only had a fraction of a second to come to terms with it. And too late I realized that nothing – no matter how much time I had – would ever prepare me for this moment. The moment where I had to watch my mate fight for his life...The sound of bones snapping and reshaping filled the night air. The wet and brutal cracking made my breath catch in my throat. And as I sucked in a shaky breath, I saw Rain shift. His wolf was even more magnificent than I remembered. The night I’d first seen Rain’s wolf, I hadn’t really taken in the magnificent sight that was his wolf. His size was formidable, easily the biggest wolf I’d ever seen. His thick, dark brown fur spilled over his muscular frame, the color so rich and gleaming it looked almost unnatural in the chandelier shine. He seemed otherworldly. As if
