Chapter 7- Myra

I feel like a charity case.

I know this is something that's out of my hands. I'm not from here and my currency wouldn't be accepted. I just feel really bad having Remmi pay for my clothes. But it's a necessity.

I had to borrow clothes from Remmi, who surprisingly wore my size.

We walked down the path to a line of stores and shops all selling a variety of items ranging from street food to expensive jewelry. We headed into 'Sundown' first, as per the request of Remmi.

"Hunter," The girl behind the counter growled.

He was taken aback by the girl's hostile demeanor as he entered the store. He turned his startled eyes to her as he assessed her, probably trying to figure out who she is by the confused look on his face.

It wasn't until she folded her arms and narrowed her eyes at him that his features lifted in recognition before dropping in realization. He forced a small smile nonetheless.

"Daisy, how you been?" He sauntered up to her.

"My name's Indiana." She gritted, anger radiating off of her in waves.

"I know! That's the nickname I gave you remember." He scratched the back of his head nervously.

"You've never called me that." Came her blank reply.

A moment passed as silence settled in the room, suffocating the other occupants of the store by the uncomfortable looks of the people in the line.

I shuffled into one of the aisles, successfully escaping the awkward situation unfolding before me.

I browsed through the racks of floral patterned dresses and skirts, carefully picking out the least ugly ones I could find.

"This would look good on you." A voice said behind me as I examined a white dress with red roses along the neckline.

"You think so?" It looked a little too bright for my already pale skin tone. I might blind people with the brightness of it.

"Honestly?" I turned my head to look at Raver, "You would look good in anything."

I felt blood rush to my face not just by the compliment, but by the proximity of which we stood. I quickly turned my head away in order to hide my obvious blush but by the chuckle he released, I knew he'd already noticed.

I put the dress on the pile I'd gathered over my arm and was about to walk further down the aisle when a loud voice came from the direction of the counter.

"You insensitive little prick! We've been together for months and this is how you treat me!?!" Indiana yelled.

"You know it was nothing serious. You were just readily available." I facepalmed as he said this.

This is where Hunter's story ends.

She growled at him as her eyes glowed a hazel color. She lifted her arm, an umbrella from the pile beside her following her movements before it charged at the speed of light towards Hunter.

However, it stopped just at the tip of his nose, lightly brushing it before falling to the floor beside him. Remmi lowered her hand as she narrowed her eyes at a fuming Indiana.

"You guys are broken up. What he did doesn't matter anymore. As long as you realize that he isn't worth your time and doesn't deserve you. You shouldn't have to inflict physical pain on him for him to know how much he hurt you emotionally. He should be smart enough to realize that what he did was wrong." Remmi calmly said, picking up the umbrella from the floor and placing it on the counter in front of her.

Indiana pursed her lips as she looked at the umbrella in thought. She was processing the events that occurred as she turned her attention to the awaiting crowd. She took a deep breath in before releasing it, turning her attention back to Hunter. This time a lot more calmly.

"Get out." She said.

"Look, I-"

With the flick of her wrist, a strong gust of wind blew past Hunter, taking him along with it and throwing him out of the door.

Indiana turned her attention to the next person in line and attempted to go about her day as per usual.

I feel really bad for her. I know what it's like to be used, it really isn't a good feeling. My parents only adopted me because they needed to look good in front of the town so that they would elect my 'father' as mayor. The situations were different but the intentions of both were as clear as day.

My adoptive parents never wanted me just like Hunter never wanted her.

But I can't get involved, I'm too deep in the mystery of this realm that I can't turn back now without finding out the truth about me.

I sighed as I walked over to the cashier and placed my items on the countertop. She gave a final price while putting the clothes in a bag, waiting patiently for the payment. A muscular arm reached from behind me with a handful of hundred dollar bills, placing them in front of me.

I turned my attention to Raver who stared back at me.

"Remmi said she would've paid for that." I reminded

"There's been a change of plan." He answered.

"I'm not comfortable with you paying for my things."

"I'm failing to see a problem here," he smiled jokingly.

"In my world, you would've been considered a sugar-daddy." I attempted to hold back my smile.

He chuckled wholeheartedly, "We use that term here as well. The only difference is that we use it to describe creepy old men spending their money on minors."

My nose twisted in disgust, why did he say that so calmly? As if he was telling me about the weather.

He laughed again, this time at my reaction and I couldn't help but join in.

"Enough of that, your flirting is keeping back the entire line." Remmi pushed her hand through the space between us and grabbed the bag off the counter.

"We weren't flirting," I mumbled.

"Yes you were, shamelessly flirting I must add." She rolled her eyes and walked out the front entrance.

We followed suit, finding Hunter leaning on a wall across the street, head down and deep in thought.

"I hope you don't think that was okay," Remmi said as she stopped before him.

"Of course not, I wanted to apologize but she wouldn't give me a chance."

"You shouldn't have cheated in the first place."

"We weren't even together. It was just a one-night stand... that seemed to be a frequent occurrence." He tried to justify.

"But you should've had the decency to show respect to her. She was at your beck and call for a year, the least you could do is be loyal. You're such an asshole." Remmi continued down the street, wanting to get away from this argument.

Same here, sis.

Hunter chased after her, grabbing her hand causing her to turn around.

"I'm not usually like that, Remmi. It was a lapse in judgment," Remmi shook her head as she yanked her hand from his grip.

Hunter's eyes snapped to mine as I walked past him, "You believe me, don't you Myra?"

"I can tell you're a good person. Good people don't deserve to be judged so harshly for one mistake they've made. But using someone for your personal gain is not okay." I said.

I turned to Raver, "You guys can head back, we'll take it from here."

He hesitated for a few seconds before nodding his head, signaling Hunter to follow him who looked as if he had something to say. He followed silently, glancing at Remmi before fully turning and walking away.

I hurried over to Remmi as they turned the corner, leaving our sight.

"This isn't just about Indiana, is it?" I asked.

She took in a breath before letting it out. "Don't worry about it. Let's just keep looking for the things you'll need."

I sighed, allowing her to drag me to different stores and shops, buying toiletries, clothes of all kinds.

When we arrived at the school, we immediately started unpacking everything into the closet before lazing around the room, talking about our lives, just random things to know a little more about each other.

I learned that she has a brother a year younger than her, she lives with her mom and dad in a mansion on the western side of Seer. Her mother is the leader of her coven and will be passing down the title to her in a few moons, as she said. When she turns eighteen.

I told her about me being the only child to the mayor. I have one friend, I go to a school with superficial, attention-seeking, fake-ass bitches as well as some very annoying students whose vocabulary does extend past football and hamburgers.

Her style is probably the very opposite of mine, where she likes roses, light clothing, and flowy dresses, I'm more of a black, sweatshirt and leggings-wearing type of person. Keep.it simple and... somewhat presentable.

Sometimes comfort takes priority over presentable.
