“Elara!” Isabella rushed to hold Elara, eyes widened, heart racing as Elara crashed to the floor, vomiting blood.

“Poison,” Isabella cried, “your drink was poisoned.”

“Quick!” Elara forced a grit. She held her chest as she crashed to the floor, “get money,” she spat out blood against as her vision blurred at the edges, “get enough money. We have to leave now.”

“Leave? To where?” The door was violently pushed open and the two ladies snapped their heads to the door immediately. They both froze as two burly men burst in.

“Who are you?” Isabella shielded Elara immediately, “what do you want?” Isabella cried and the men turned to each other before they burst out laughing.

“To take away what's blocking our way.”

“You're not taking her.” Isabella's heart thumped inside of her as she looked around, “help!” She screamed and rushed to the park's alarm, “get guards here!” She pressed hard on the alarm but it never made a sound.

“That won't work, Luna,” one of the men laughed and Isabella turned around at how close he was.

Her chest heaved and her throat dried at the realisation of what was happening. They have blocked the protection for her.

“Stop.” She warned as she backed into the wall, “stop it. Stay away,” tears brimmed in her eyes as she looked to Elara, the one woman that had stayed by her, sprawled on the floor, blood oozing out of her mouth and nostrils.

“Did you poison her? Who sent you? What do you want?”

“Money?” Isabella rushed to the safe, “I will give you. Please save her,” she looked to Elara and rushed to her, “Elara.”

“Leave,” Elara gasped and held tightly to Isabella. With Isabella's help, she forced her to sit, “I'll buy time, you just escape.”

“No. We are leaving together! I'm not leaving you!” Isabella screamed and turned to the men, “stay away.”

“Get them.”

“Luna!” Elara grabbed her sword and pulled Isabella out of the way as one of the men lunged. She threw her knife and it stuck in the man's throat and at once, he dropped to the floor.

“You…” Elara coughed as she held the bedstand, forcing herself to stand, “are not taking the Luna under my watch,” immediately she reached for another blade stuck in her waist and lunged.

With blood oozing out of her nostrils, her sword clashed repeatedly with the men's own before she pushed Isabella to the door, “leave.”

“I'm not leaving without you,” Isabella cried as she watched Elara take a sword. “Elara! She screamed as her eyes darted around. Her gaze rested on the dead man on the floor and at once she rushed to the man.

She pulled out the knife and rushed to the men holding Elara. With a stab one of the men dropped dead. “Let's go!” Isabella screamed and wrapped a hand around Elara.

“Weapons,” Elara spat out blood, “I need the weapons,” she pulled out of Isabella's grip, “leave. I am right behind you. Take the second entrance.”

“Okay,” Isabella nodded, her pulse pounding in her ears. Her blood thumped in her veins as she dashed towards the door and just at the entrance, she paused as she heard the gasp.

Followed by a sound — the sound of metal tearing into flesh.

Isabella turned immediately and her limbs went numb. Her mouth opened in a wide terrifying scream as she watched Elara, the one woman she had taken as her sister drop to the floor, blood dripping out of her artery that had been cut open

“No!” She screamed and just as she moved, strong hands wrapped around her. “

“How's the sight, Luna.”

“No, no,” Isabella watched Elara gaggle while blood pulled at her feet, “stop, let me go,” she fought in the hands of the men holding her but she was no match.

The hands wrapped around her tightly while everything inside her shattered as she watched Elara's hands drop beside her. She was gone.

Elara was gone.

“That's enough fighting, Luna,” before Isabella could process it, she felt the rigid piercing, followed by the cold feeling of whatever liquid it was. “Stop,” her voice was strained, low and barely audible and before she knew it, her body gave in and no matter how hard she tried to hold on, her eyelids dropped.

And just as she was losing consciousness, the face of the woman that had protected her, in a pool of her own blood, was etched into her memory. As her body gave in, she heard the question.

“This isn't what we planned, boss, what do we do?”

“We replan.”

“We didn't intend for her to die in this room.”

“That's enough, we restrategise,” that was all Isabella could register as her brain went shut.

“Alpha!” Lucas heard the voice as he crashed to the floor. Before the rogue could hit him, a spear pierced the wolf immediately, and it dropped dead to the floor.

“Thank you,” Lucas gasped as he remained on the floor. Blood pooled by his sides while his vision blurred.

“That was the last one.”

5 words. And they brought more relief than any words he had ever heard. “Alpha, you're bleeding, we have to get you treated.”

“I'm dying,” his wolf screamed inside of him and Lucas grabbed his head as he reached for his sword. “That's enough, we're going home,” he whispered to his wolf.

He and his men spent 2 days in hiding. In a barely human shelter. They have been attacked countless times on their journey but while they rested, another entire pack of rogues attacked them.

His eyes travelled around him. Plenty of his men lay dead, some on pieces of their own skin.

“That's enough war!” He screamed and every subordinate turned to him, “We are going home!”
