Laina

I didn't remember leaving the room, I didn't even remember who untied me or walking through the corridors.

I didn't remember the faces of the men surrounding me, everything felt distant.

Like I was watching someone else's life from somewhere far away.

There was blood on my wedding dress, too much blood and I kept staring at it.

The white fabric stained red.

A wedding dress that had been meant for a celebration, a happy day now looked like a reminder of everything that had happened.

Oliver was dead and my father was dead too, Trey was alive and he was the one that killed them in cold blood right in front of me

A woman I didn't recognize helped me into another room, she didn't speak much she simply placed clean clothes on the bed and told me to change which I did, I didn't argue or ask her anything really, someone cleaned the blood from my skin as another one took my wedding dress away.

I sat there like a doll while they moved around me catering to my every move, turning when they said turn, when they finally left, I climbed into the bed and curled onto my side and stared at the wall.

There was a guard outside the door, I could hear his footsteps every few minutes.

I wasn't being treated like a guest, I knew I was a prisoner here but I really didn't care, nothing seemed important anymore not even the fact that Trey was alive and back.

My mind kept replaying the sound of bones breaking, the sight of Oliver falling, my father's body hitting the floor, the blood, so much blood.

I closed my eyes finally letting the tears fall down, I heard the door open and I could hear the footsteps walking towards me, I knew who it was before I could say anything.

"Laina." he said my name but I said nothing, even my mate was not excited to sense his presence, Trey waited but I still said nothing, I had nothing to say to him.

He walked closer and I could feel his presence behind me.

"You need to eat Laina."

I didn't respond.

"I don't know what you are trying to do but you are not going to starve yourself."

He moved around the bed until he was standing in front of me and I finally looked at him, his face was unreadable.

"You need to eat something."

I looked away again,

"If I have to force it down your throat, I will."

I tried to open my mouth and say something but I couldn't, nothing really came out, his jaw tightened.

"You think ignoring me is going to change anything? You are going to do as I say Laina"

I stared through him and something changed in his expression, maybe he finally realized I wasn't refusing to answer him, I simply couldn't, I had nothing to say to him and didn't know how to even say anything to him.

He sat on the edge of the bed and for several seconds, neither of us spoke.

Then his hand moved and his fingers touched my arm and I flinched so violently that my entire body jerked away from him.

Trey immediately froze and his hand dropped, I pulled my knees toward my chest my heart was racing.

He stared at me in silence, and for ten first time I saw something unfamiliar in his eyes, not anger or hatred, something closer to realization.

He slowly stood up "If you don't want me in here" His voice was quieter "I will send someone else."

I didn't respond, he started walking towards the door, his hand hand reached for the handle and that's when I remembered something I had forgotten in the chaos, something that suddenly mattered more than everything else.

"Trey." i managed to say and he stopped,

It was the first word I had spoken since leaving that room, he slow he turned around but I couldn't look at him.

My voice was barely a whisper.

"What about my baby?"

He went completely still at the mention of the word baby and for several seconds, he didn't move, then his expression changed.

"What did you just say?"

I swallowed "Is she okay, my baby?"

His face went blank like he had not heard me

"Your baby?"

I finally looked at him.

"Naya."

And suddenly, for the first time since he had returned, Trey looked genuinely shocked.

"You have a baby?"

Trey“Get him out of here!”Laina's voice echoes through the hospital corridor even through the closed door, I can hear the panic in her voice.“I want him out! I want him out of here!”I close my eyes, for four years, I have imagined seeing her again, I imagined a thousand different versions of this moment, I imagined her running into my arms, her slapping me, I imagined her screaming at me, I imagined her asking me why. What I never imagined was seeing her terrified because I was standing in the same room as her.I slowly lower myself into one of the chairs outside her hospital room, my clothes still smell faintly of smoke. My hands are scraped and bruised from pulling pieces of burning debris apart, but I barely notice the pain, all I can think about is Laina, the way she looked at me like I was a monster.Like my presence alone was enough to make her panic and maybe I deserve it.Maybe after everything that happened, I have no right to expect anything else from her.I lean my head

LainaI never believed in fairy tales, not even when I was a little girl, and certainly not when I grew old enough to understand what the world was really like.Fairy tales were stories people told themselves because reality was too ugly to accept, there were no happily ever afters,no perfect love stories and definitely no handsome prince riding in to save a broken girl. And soulmate? That was probably the biggest lie of them all.I had grown up watching my parents prove it.My father was an arrogant, cruel alcoholic with a massive ego and an even bigger appetite for power. He was an Alpha, and he loved reminding everyone around him of it. Money, influence, status, control those were the things that mattered to him, not family and most certainly not my mother. Love never seemed to make it onto that list, he was never really present in my life either, he was always busy at work or with the pack, as he said a powerful man like him a lot was expected of him. My mother was his exact op

AminaFive years ago, I learned that sometimes the only way to save yourself was to become the villain in someone else's story.I had spent five years living with that truth, years carrying a secret that had changed the course of my life, five years wondering whbether Trey Davidson would ever discover what had really happened that night, and five years raising a little boy who had never known his father.I had told myself that I had done what I needed to do to survive, but every time I looked into my son's eyes, I remembered the price I had paid. And every time I thought about Trey, I remembered the night Paul Young had taken away my choices.Five Years Earlier"Drink this."I stared at the small glass Paul had placed on the table in front of me."What is it?"His expression hardened."Did I ask you to question me, Amina?"I immediately lowered my eyes "No, sir.""Then drink it."My fingers trembled as I reached for the glass, but I didn't lift it to my lips.I had worked for Paul You

TreyThe door had barely closed behind Amina when I turned to Clint.“Tell me you don't believe a word that woman just said.”Clint leaned against the edge of my desk, his arms folded across his chest. “Which part? The part where she claims you have a son, or the part where she wants to become your Luna?”“Both.”“Then we are in agreement, I had no idea you and her even had a thing.”"That's because we didn't." I dragged a hand down my face and returned to my chair. The moment Amina had walked into my office, she had brought five years of buried memories crashing into my present. I had spent years trying to forget the woman, and what happened that day, Atleast the fragments of what I remembered. Now she was telling me that I had a son, a four year old boy who had been alive all this time, growing up without me.My jaw tightened.“Find out everything you can about her,” I ordered. “Where she has been living, who she has been associating with, how she has been supporting herself. Amina. He glanced at the bottle in my hand "Is everything okay Amina?"I nodded, although I could barely breathe."Paul asked me to bring you something."His expression changed at the mention of my employer."What does Paul want now?""I don't know," I lied. "He just asked me to make sure you received this."Trey studied me for a moment."You look nervous."I nearly broke down, he was being kind to me.Even then, even with everything Paul had planned, Trey was looking at me with concern rather than suspicion."Are you all right, Amina?"I nodded too quickly "Yes. I'm fine."He didn't look convinced, but he didn't press me.Instead, he took the bottle from my hand and placed it on the table."Thank you. You can tell Paul I received it."I should have left then, I should have walked out of that room and accepted whatever consequences came my way but I knew what Paul would do and I was too frightened to find out.I stayed and poured the drinks, I watched Trey take the first one and I fel
