LILY'S POV

The moment I saw Esmeralda being manhandled, I first assumed he was a thief or maybe an assassin but he looked too scrawny to be one and I knew that this was something I could definitely handle myself.

My body moved before my mind could catch up.

The moment I saw the stranger’s hand gripping Esmeralda’s arm so tightly, something hot and fierce rose inside my chest.

Anger and protectiveness collided at once.

“Let her go!” I shouted as I rushed forward.

The man turned sharply, surprise flashing in his eyes.

Before I could reach Esmeralda, he shoved me hard in the chest.

I stumbled backward, nearly losing my balance.

It seemed I was wrong because he was strong as hell..I definitely judged this book by it's cover.

“Stay out of this.” he snapped.

My heart pounded, but I refused to back down.

“Touch her again and I’ll scream so loud this entire house will wake up.” I warned, my voice shaking but loud.
