“I love you too, Jace,” I said it back with a wide smile on my face before I slowly put down the receiver.

The moment it clicked, my lips quivered as my hands coiled into fists. I just lied to my brother and plunged myself deeper into Maddox’s hell.

*FLASHBACK 30 MINUTES EARLIER.*

After the training with his Ace warriors, Maddox took Daisy and me to a warehouse where some of his illegal weapons were stored. I had no idea this place existed or why he showed it to me, except that I thought he wanted me to know what he was capable of doing.

Grenades and guns of different calibers were there, as well as high-class explosives that I had never seen in my whole life. Daisy was enamored with them, but it worried me.
