“RUN!” sigaw ni Lysander, habang hawak-hawak si Celestine sa braso, tumatakbo sa gitna ng ulan at putok ng baril.

Ang liwanag ng mga headlights at sirena ng pulis ay kumikislap sa basang lupa.

“Lysander! This way—!”

Celestine tried to pull him behind a shipping container, pero nahulog ang isa sa mga kahon — exposing them.

“There! Don’t let them escape!”

A series of gunshots rang out.

Lysander pushed her down, covering her with his body.

The sound of bullets echoed like thunder.

Then — one shot.

Just one.

Bang!

Celestine froze.

Slow motion.

She felt the warmth — not hers.

Lysander’s.

He fell forward, his arm still around her, blood spreading across his side.

“L-Lysander?! Oh my God— Lysander!”

“Ssh…” he gasped, trying to stay conscious. “I told you… I’ll protect you.”

She tried to press on his wound, but the blood kept flowing.

Her tears mixed with the rain, her hands trembling.

“Don’t you dare close your eyes! We’re almost out!”

“You’re… crying again,” he whispered weakly, smiling fai
