Liosha’s POV

Ouch!

I can certainly see how he became the commander of the pack warriors; he has certainly mastered the art of sleep fighting! He kicks again, his foot connecting perfectly with my shin. I bite my lip to keep from wincing out loud. I roll out of bed; it is almost 5:30 anyway, so I should just get an early start today, and I’ll deal with Nappy Chan much later.

I say my prayers and slide into the bathroom to freshen up. I’m not surprised when I walk back into the room and see him doing a couple of push-ups on the ground. He hears me enter and starts counting out loud,

“501, 502, 503…” I roll my eyes and chuckle.

“500 push-ups, huh?” a smile still lingering on my lips.

“Oh, babe, I didn’t see you there,” he stops and feigns surprise.

“Riiiight,” I reply sarcastically and chuckle a bit. “Go and take a shower; let’s go on patrol together.”

“The Luna wants to take a stroll with lowly old me?” he jokes.

“Shut up!” I’m laughing now as I push him into the bathroom.

“Alright, alright! I’m going!” he says with a small laugh and walks into the bathroom.

“Good. I’ll see you downstairs, babe.” I run down the stairs, make a quick cup of tea, and sip on it while I wait for him to come down.

It has been two months now since the wedding. Carlos turns out to be quite the charmer. He has a nice personality, serious drive, and he’s amazing in bed, but I can’t help but feel incomplete with him. As werewolves, we are blessed by the moon goddess with heightened senses and abilities. While our sight, smell, and hearing are heightened, our strength, speed, reflexes, and especially emotions are ten times that of your average human, to say the least. That’s why we feel so empty when we don’t find our mates, because there’s a gap that no charming personality or handsome face can fill unless they’re destined to be yours.

“Earth to Liosha!” A snap in front of my face brings me out of my thought spiral.

“When did you get here?” I’m shocked I didn’t hear him come down.

“Just now. You must have been deep in thought if you didn’t hear me come in. What’s on your mind?” he asks with actual concern.

I stopped to think for a while, contemplating whether I should speak my mind or not. I finally look into his eyes, and it just slips out,

“Are you happy? Here, with me?” He’s taken aback by my sudden question.

“Of course, I am, bebita. What makes you think I’m not?” His voice is heavy with concern; he doesn’t move from his spot, though I can hear the slight jump in his heartbeat as he says that.

“I don’t think you’re not, but I know you feel it too.”

“Feel what?”

“Like something’s missing. That’s probably why you haven’t marked me yet, even after two months.”

He laughs dryly.

“Is that what this is about? Marking you?”

“That’s just a small part of it, but yeah.”

“So, you want me to mark you, is that it?” he says, his face going a bit dark as his eyes begin to glow bright gold. His fangs pop out, hair growing from the sides of his face; he’s partially transforming as he takes small steps towards me.

“Stop it, Carlos,” I warn him as I switch my stance to a defensive one, my eyes glowing bright gold as well, ready to take him on if he attacks. He stops moving. We stare each other down for a while, and then he shifts back to his human form.

“We should patrol together some other time, not today.” He turns and leaves the room without another word. That certainly wasn’t cynical, not cynical at all.

“Hey, what happened to you?” Izzy says as she walks up to me.

“Nothing, why do you ask?” I try to act fine.

“For starters, you look like you’ve seen a ghost.” I sigh at this statement.

“Honestly, I kind of wish I did.”

“What happened?” Her face is covered with concern, and I narrate my encounter with Carlos just a few moments ago.

“That bitch! He was gonna use force on you!” She’s upset now.

“Scared the shit out of me. I mean, this is someone I share a bed with; how am I supposed to feel safe now after seeing his sinister tendencies?” We both sigh in sync. “I should probably talk to my dad about it. He always knows what to do.”

“I agree; maybe he’ll sucker punch him for me.” I chuckle a bit at that.

“Where is my dad, anyway?” I ask, looking around to see if I’d catch a glimpse of him.

“Oh yeah, I saw him at the weapons storehouse with Beta Jon. They looked like they were about to go somewhere.”

“What?! And you’re just telling me this now?” I quickly bolt off in the direction of the weapons storehouse.

“It didn’t come up!” she shouts after me before bolting behind me.

“Dad?!” I call out as I get to the storehouse. Izzy was right; he is clothed in his combat gear. He stops what he’s doing to look at me.

“Hey, munchkin. How are you?” He smiles his usual wide smile, but something feels off today.

“Are you going into battle?” I don’t waste time asking.

“Yes, I am, but it’s nothing you should concern yourself with.”

“What’s the situation? I’m sure I can help out somehow.”

“You’re right about that. I’m going to need someone to manage the affairs of the pack while I’m gone. I don’t know how long this mission will take.”

“What’s the mission, Dad?”

“We found them, the alphas.” No way! He wants to fight the alphas? “They crossed into Santiago's borders last night; they’re probably going to try an attack on one of the humans soon, with the full moon only a week away.”

“So, you’re going to try and stop them before they can attack?”

“Exactly. Besides, I can’t have rogues roaming freely in this city. As far as I’m concerned, Santiago is Bloodline territory.” He’s no longer masking his intensity now.

“Are you taking the pack warriors?”

“I can’t afford to leave the pack house unprotected. I’ll be going alone with Jon.”

Liosha’s POVThe fire is dying.Jon’s breathing is shallow but steady. My father leans against the wall, arms crossed, lost in thought. And Sebastian? He hasn’t moved from the door all night.I haven’t slept. Not really. I just sit and listen to the wind, to the silence, to my own heart pounding like a war drum in my chest. The masked thing’s voice won’t leave me alone.“Give me the bloodline’s Luna.”“You wear your mother’s blood like a shield.”“The goddess will not save you.”I clench my jaw. I want answers. I want vengeance. But right now, I’d settle for ten minutes without a migraine.“You should rest,” Sebastian says, voice low.I glance up. His back is still to me. He’s staring into the trees like he’s waiting for death to crawl out of them.“I’m fine,” I reply.“Liosha…”“I said I’m fine.”He finally turns. The firelight makes his eyes look silver, stormy, and unreadable.“You’ve got blood on your neck,” he says.

Liosha’s POVPain wakes me.Not the sharp kind. The dull, all-over kind, the kind that wraps around your ribs and hums like a warning. My eyes crack open. The ceiling above me is stone. Damp. My body’s lying on something that might be a blanket, might be moss. It could be both.Voices drift in like fog. Faint. Familiar.“She’s waking.”I blink again. My father’s face comes into view, blood on his cheek, worry in his eyes.“You back with us, munchkin?”I try to sit up, but my ribs scream. “Ouch, okay, that’s new.”“You landed hard,” he says, helping me into a half-sit. “Don’t rush it.”My throat’s dry as sand. “Jon?”“Alive,” he answers. “Barely. But alive.”I breathe out slowly. Thank the goddess. We’re in a cave. The air smells of smoke and wet stone. I hear a river outside. We must’ve made it past the ridge.Across the room, Sebastian stands like a statue, shirtless, arms folded, still as stone. His skin is streaked with dried blood. Some his, some not.His eyes aren’t on me. They’re

Liosha’s POVThe howls are close now.Carlos coughs on the ground, barely upright. But my eyes lock on the tree line. The air shifts, cold and heavy. Something’s coming.“They’re not just passing through,” Sebastian says. “They’re hunting us.”“How?” I ask.“They weren’t tracking you,” he says tightly. “They were tracking him.”He nods at Carlos.Carlos scowls. “I just killed two rogue alphas.”“Exactly,” Sebastian cuts in. “You stole their power. Power leaves a trail.”My father steps forward, sword dripping. “We move. Now.”“Wait, Jon,” I breathe.I spot him, slumped against a tree, blood soaking his side. Barely conscious.I drop beside him. “Jon! Stay with me.”His eyes flutter. “Get out… lead them…”“No,” I whisper. “Not without you.”“Liosha!” Sebastian’s voice snaps through the link. He’s shifted, massive and silver, radiating command.“You and your father get Jon out. I’ll hold the front.”“You’ll die,” I snap back.“Trust me.”He doesn’t wait. He bolts toward the treeline. My

“Mate,” I whispered. The word left my lips like a spark, but inside, it was wildfire. Something ancient in me stirred. Not thought. Not memory.Instinct.He stepped into view through the broken circle of trees, bare-chested, blood-streaked, aura rolling off him like a storm. Not his blood. His arms were stained with someone else’s. His presence hit like thunder, wild and terrifying… and familiar.Carlos groaned beside me, trying to push himself upright. “What the hell is this...?”The stranger glanced down at him without blinking. “You made a mess.”His voice was deep. Low. Steady. My heart pounded like it was trying to escape my ribs.My wolf… she was practically pacing inside me, restless, breathless. Awake.Carlos spat, blood dripping from his mouth. “Who the hell are you?”The man’s jaw clenched. His tone deepened“Someone who doesn’t take betrayal lightly.”Jon stepped beside me, voice scratchy, uncertain. “Do you know him?”“I… no,” I said. But I couldn’t stop staring. My eyes

  • THE BLOODLINE’S LUNA   Chapter 7: The Burned Crest

At an instant, Carlos walked into the opening, bathed in moonlight, it was like he was late for a show or something. He was calm, composed, but there was this disturbing dark energy radiating off him. It was bad. Bad.Then I saw it. Blood. Soaking the sleeves of his shirt. But it wasn't his.My eyes darted past him, and I saw them. Two rogue alphas. Lying lifeless on the ground. Their necks? Snapped. Chests? Ripped to shreds. Their strength... gone. You didn't even need to have super smell to know Carlos had taken their power for himself."Carlos?" I said, croaked out, and walked forward by a step.He looked at me like I was some stranger he had never seen before. Then smiled and spoke."You owe me some gratitude, Liosha. I just saved your skins."My dad, who was trying to get up beside me, chest heaving, glared hard at Carlos. You weren't even fighting. You were just watching.Watching, Carlos repeated, a smirk playing on his lips. Just looking for the perfect opportunity."You plann

  • THE BLOODLINE’S LUNA   Chapter 6: The Alpha’s Oath

Carlos' smirk just sends chills down my spine. We're all dodging claws, teeth, and flying steel out here, fighting for our lives. Yet, all I can think about is Carlos. Up there, playing safe, just watching us like it's some sort of show. There wasn't even a flicker of worry in those golden eyes; he just stood there with his arms crossed. Like whatever, you know? What is his deal?"Carlos!" I shout to him using our pack link. I kick a rogue's butt and slice his leg. No answer. "Carlos, get your butt down here now!"Still nothing. My wolf is growling. I’m so ticked off. What a chicken.Beta Jon gets knocked down, and I rush to cover him. I jump between him and the other alpha who’s coming in for the kill. I bite down hard on the alpha's arm, ripping the skin and drawing blood. The guy screams.Giving Jon enough time to stand."Thanks", Jon says, panting."We're being watched", I say, my eyes flicking back to where Carlos was standing. The spot is empty."He's gone", I whisper, baffled.
