CHAPTER THIRTEEN

Since the afternoon he'd kissed her and then gone ahead to compliment the action with insulting words, Bree has done her best to stay out of Ryder's way.

His words had done more harm than she was willing to let him see, so she avoided him instead, staying off his radar.

Thankfully, it hadn't been a difficult task to accomplish in that big house they both lived in.

His suddenly busy schedule was what she loved to think of as added bonus. 

And then she'd resumed her work here and everything has been so perfect.

So why was he here now, towering over everyone else in the lobby with his intimidating height, in that stance that dares you to challenge him?

"What are you doing here, Ryder?" 

He turned at the sound of her not so confident voice, looking at her with those annoyingly bland eyes of his.

Bree would have felt good and better prepared for the moment  if there was the slightest hint of emotion on his face cluing
