Lucas grey walked towards me and placed his hands on the shoulders of the boy in front of me.

“Your son?” I asked confused. Lucas grey was never rumored to have a son. I stared between the two of them, they did share a little resemblance, but it wasn’t striking enough to be noticed at first glance.

“He’s actually my brother’s son” he explained. “I adopted him after my brother and his wife’s death”

That made more sense. Gerald grey, Lucas older brother and his wife died in a car accident six years ago, but no one knew anything about their son, Jake grey. Everyone thought he had died with his parents but his body was never found.

“We try to keep jakes existence a secret because we suspect that his parents where actually murdered. We’re still working on finding more about the accident”

I nodded, I didn’t know why he trusted me enough to tell me this and I didn’t care, all I wanted right now was to leave the hospital. I had had enough, this was the last time, I would fall victim to my family.

“Thank you again Mr. Grey, but I would love to be discharged right away”

He nodded and went to the reception to get the discharge papers, leaving me with Gerald. He smiled at me as he grabbed my hand pulling me back to my room.

“You should rest Mrs. Graham, while Uncle Lucas handles the discharge”

I smiled, feeling the warmth grow in my heart as I followed behind him, he was matured for a ten year old and a sweeter version too. He helped me lay down as we reached the room and fed me some fruits from the bed stand.

“You need to take care of yourself, my uncle said you were a prodigy who gave up her life for her husband. He also said you were a beautiful woman. And you still are” he winked as he said this.

I found myself laughing at this, his affectionate gaze made me feel a little better and I patted his head. The door flung open and Mr. Grey walked in with the doctors.

“Well Mrs. Graham, you’re ready to be discharged, we’ve monitored your cardiac function and everything is alright and according to the tests there’s been no significant damage of the lungs”

“So I’m good to go then”

“Yes but I have prescribed some antibiotics and would love to monitor you more”

“There’s no need for that doctor”

“Alright, just continue to rest and take the antibiotics, we’ll be expecting you next week for a follow up. You need to be more careful, you’re lucky this didn’t hurt the baby”

My eyes widened. “t-the b-baby?” I asked my breathing becoming shaky. This couldn’t happen, not now, I didn’t want to still be tied to him.

“Yes, you’re pregnant”

The room began to spin, I didn’t need this, and I had to make my decision now. “Schedule an abortion”

He looked at me, his eyebrows raised as he looked back at Lucas, Lucas nodded and he turned back to me with a smile.

“No problem, it would be scheduled with the follow up tests”

I nodded and he walked out of the room, Lucas grey walked towards me and smiled.

“I’m guessing this has to do with Jason and his secretary?”

I nodded again. He smiled not asking more questions and they helped me out of the hospital and inside the car, I gave the hospital one last look before we drove away.

Jason ran over to Katie and held her hands, his eyes were sparkling like he just won the lottery.

“Elena just got discharged. I’m sure she’s trying to apologize”

“Really? So I can change rooms?”

“I knew she loved me. I would call her later, she can’t think that just because she gave up the room, I would forgive her. She still hasn’t apologized to you and even now she let Ethan get hurt” his expression was now more of distaste compared to his earlier one.

“It is okay Mr. Graham, I already forgive Mrs. Graham” she snuggled into his chest as he patted her head.

“You really are a sweet person Katie. Ethan, bring lets help Aunty Katie to her new room”

“Okay daddy” he said beaming with smiles/

They helped her up and went to the reception. This time, they were given the room, not long after the doctor came in.

“Mr. Graham, she can be discharged right now, she didn’t suffer any damages and would be fine”

“Are you sure? What do you prescribe?”

“There’s no need for that, but just to be safe I would advise her to take a rest”

“But doctor, my head hurts” Katie said pitifully as she held her head.

The doctor walked towards her and checked her again before shaking his head. “There’s nothing wrong with you, a little rest would make you better” he turned to Jason. “You can come with me to sign the discharge papers”

Jason nodded and started following the doctor when Katie grabbed him and stared at him pleading, he smiled at her and nodded.

“Can we at least come back for follow up tests?”

The doctor sighed and turned back to them. “If it would make you feel better, you can come in a week” He sighed again before leaving with Jason behind him.

“Uncle Lucas, what are we going to do about Mr. Graham?”

“We have to leave that to Elena. We can’t do anything without her decision. I just hope she would live for herself from now on” he said as they watched her enter the house.

“She doesn’t seem to remember you”

“I know. We never really officially met. I always helped her from the sidelines, she’s the reason I invested in Jason grahams business. I can’t believe he rose to the top only to do this to her”

“How about we pull out from the cooperation with the grahams?”

“That might affect Elena, immediately she makes her decision we would know what to do”

Gerald nodded. “Let’s go” Lucas said as he patted the driver’s sit, his eyes not leaving the house as they drove off.

I walked into the house feeling a sense of insecurity, my mind tracing back to what Lucas Grey told me.

“Thank you again Mr. Grey” I had said as I undid my seat belt ready to leave. He held me back as he locked his gaze with mine.

“If you need help with your husband, you can call me anytime”

“It’s alright Mr. Grey, you have already done enough for me”

“I want to” he had said firmly.

“Yes Mrs. Graham, my uncle would help you anytime”

I smiled as I patted Gerald’s head, nodding. As I walked over to the house I heard him speak. “And if you also decide to work again, you can call me”

Shocked, I nodded again and bowed before turning back and entering the house. I pulled myself from my thoughts as I went into mine and Jason’s room. We hadn’t shared a room since Katie came in, he would either come home late and drunk only to sleep in the guest room or he wouldn’t come home at all. Sometimes he would take Ethan with him and I would see Katie’s post of them spending time as a family. Once Katie had deliberately sent a spicy picture of herself with Jason, mocking me. She had constantly told me to leave him for her. I sighed as I packed my things which could barely fill my suitcase, Jason and I had been married for ten years and he barely bought me new clothes, his excuse was always that I didn’t need it. But immediately Katie became his secretary three years ago, he bought her the latest designers, a car and even paid for her house. He would always buy her jewelry and whenever I brought it up, he would call me unreasonable.

“Well if she wants him they can have each other” I said as I wiped the tears I didn’t know had fallen. I brought down the pictures from the wall and put them in the bin, clearing every trace of myself in the house. I threw everything into the bin and set fire to it. The tears dropped freely as I watched the fire grow, engulfing every single part of my existence from the house. Jason and I were childhood sweethearts, we had been dating for a long time and when we announced our engagement, no one was surprised. We were always open about our relationship and was often teased over our public display of affection. Our marriage went smoothly and two years later we had Ethan.

“Thank you so much Elena” he had said, grinning ear to ear as he stared at the new born in his arms before looking up at me. “You’ve made me a father and I’m sure I’m now that happiest man on earth” he had carefully dropped Ethan and moved towards me, holding my hands and looking into my eyes affectionately.

“I promise to never betray you” he had said, putting up two of his fingers to show his seriousness.

Eight years had passed and he had broken his promise. It took him only five years to break it, I sighed as I picked up my suitcase and headed to the door, finally leaving the unfamiliar building. I stopped at the table in the leaving room.

“Goodbye Mr. Graham and Ethan graham” I whispered as I dropped the divorce papers and the severance papers on the table.

I cleaned the last trail of tears on my face and walked towards the door, as I opened it I could feel my expression shift to annoyance.

“You ungrateful brat”

I felt the hot pang of tears as we passed the gate. A low chuckle surprised me and I frowned as I turned and saw lucas watching me and laughing.“if you like it that much, you'd love the real thing” he said as he came closer, tilting his head enough and putting his neck closer for me to sniff.I turned red with embarrassment as I shook my hands. “n-no need, you misunderstand me”“come on now, don’t be shy” he said as he came closer, this time positioning his neck just below my nose. The veins on his neck popped as he swallowed.I pulled away and faced the window, trying to hide the embarrassment on my face. “where are we going?” I finally gathered t

“You’re the guy from the dinner” Jason said as he turned to look at the voice. The man stood smiling, everything about his aura screaming superiority.“You have a good memory Mr. Graham, but I’m sorry, you can’t get into that room”“Look, I am grateful that you pulled my wife from that pool, but don’t think you can come here pulling this kind of stunt. This hospital and room is owned by the greys, just because you helped my wife doesn’t mean I would give you money. She didn’t need your help” The man smirked as he moved closer to Jason, locking their gazes. He could sense Jason shrinking and he laughed. “You really don’t deserve Elena”“What do you mean? Look just because...”He raised his hand cutting him off. “Trusting this woman instead of your wife, such a filial husband you are” he said sarcastically. Jason provoked by his words was about to speak when the man cut him off again.“I’m not here to take money from you. I’m actually here to see your wife. The woman you’re married to

“I’m telling you, divorce Jason” I watched her mischievous smile turn serious as she stared me down. I smiled, deciding to finally play into her games, curious to see what else she had in store for me.“Didn’t you say he was now yours? Why not tell him to divorce me instead? Or are you scared he doesn’t love you? Tell him to divorce me and I would sign the divorce papers. And Ethan? Jason can have custody of him. What? You aren’t confident in his love?” I asked mockingly as I sipped my wine. This infuriated her more. “You think they still love you? If both of us fell into the water who do you think they would safe first?” with that she got closer and whispered. “Let’s find out who they love more. Let’s test it out”Before I could react she grabbed my arm again and threw me into the pull with her. I couldn’t swim and called out desperately for Jason, I could see Katie smile as she saw me. My vision began to blur and I watched as Jason jumped into the pool. He swam toward Katie and I s
