Chapter one

Katherine’s Pov

“For the betterment of this pack I reject you as my mate.”My mate Kenneth said.

These words sliced through me like I was stabbed. My mate of two years just rejected me. My wolf wailed, her voice almost ripping my mind out. My body was hot like it had been set on fire, my breath hitched. He broke the bond between us, the sacred bond that was rare.

Judith the Alpha’s daughter stood behind him, her lips curved into a smirk.Kenneth turned and looked at her like she was the price. My bones felt like they were snapping.

“Why?” I managed to let words out of my rasped throat. “ Why are you betraying our bond? You are my mate.”

He looked at me with no regret, eyes filled with ambition.“Bonds can easily be replaced.” He came closer to me and said ” I need to be an alpha. And to do that, I need a strong alliance. It’s rare to find real mates these days anyway. You will survive.”

My world shattered.I could feel the grieve of my wolf pressing at the back of my mind. I stared at him. “So that’s it,you are throwing our bond away?.

He ignored me.

“Why did I have to find out like this? You would have told me?” I continued.

I had opened a mindlink to find out where he was and he had forgotten to block it. I heard her voice. And his.The soft gasps, the sound of him telling another woman how beautiful she was. My blood ran cold, my wolf was clawing at me to find out more. I had gone looking. I saw them tangled together. His lips on her neck.

The image wouldn’t leave my head now.

Kenneth tightened his jaw. “You would have found out eventually.”

“Does it make it any better?” My voice rose from rage and anger.

Judith stepped forward and wrapped her arms around him, looking at me tauntingLy and then looking at him possessively. She said “ Kenneth come, we have things to discuss.”

He didn’t even glance at me once he left.

I didn’t know how long I stood there before my knees sank to the cold floor of his living room. My heart felt like it was being ripped out. I managed to pick myself up, I didn’t know where my feet were taking me. The other pack member looked at me with pity.

The humiliation was suffocating.

The mate rejection is the most painful thing to any wolf apart from wolfsbane.

I was in immense pain. I managed to go home and curled myself on the floor of my room.

I didn’t sleep. I lost count of the time. Tears kept coming out of my eyes no matter how much I tried to stop it.

In the morning my eyes were swollen. I looked in the mirror, I wasn’t going to let anyone see me broken. If Kenneth thought I was going to hide in a corner he was wrong.

I took my bath and got ready to go to school. I fitted into my blue school shirt, black leggings matched it up with my training boots. I braided my hair into two cornrows on each side. I am going to work hard to be a stronger person, I am an Omega training to be a Gamma and I’m going to earn my place.

I went to the kitchen to grab a glass of water before leaving. When my parents saw me they looked at me with eyes filled with pity.

They knew.

“Morning, baby.” my mother said carefully.

“Morning.” I replied, trying to keep my tone in check.

I poured water into the glass .Then I heard my father say “Kathy, we heard what happened.” My chest tightened. I just stared at the glass cup in my hand. “Everyone has heard.”

They both stared at each other. My parents were not fated mates. They loved themselves to the moon and back but they were not fated mates. It was rare to find one, people who found it cherished it and mine rejected me.

My mum stepped forward and laid her hands on my arms. “You don’t have to go today. You can rest and give yourself time.”

“I don’t want time.” I said immediately. “ I want to train.” If I stayed at home I would drown more. My thoughts will be how I saw my mate cuddled with another woman or how he had rejected me because he wanted to be with her.

My father nodded. “ Then hold your head high. Don’t let them see you down again.”

I forced a smile and hugged my parents. “ I won’t.”

Easier said than done.

I managed to make it to the training ground.

Then came the whispers, a lot of eyes on me.

“Her mate rejected her…”

“For Judith, the Alpha's daughter, what do you expect…”

“Two years down the drain…”

“They were fated mates…”

My heart tightened but my steps didn’t.

“Katherine!!!”

Felicia’s voice sounded out. She jogged up to meet me, her curls bouncing on her shoulder, her eyes filled with concern. She pulled me into a hug immediately.

“I’m fine.” I muttered.

Felicia is my best friend, of course she knew I was lying.

Losing a mate was heart wrenching.

“You are not.” She said firmly. “I will stand with you until you are okay.”

Her words almost made me tear up but I wasn’t going to again, I nodded. “ Let's go then. Training is waiting.” I gave her a reassuring smile.

Training was supposed to be my escape. It was my safe place, where I wouldn’t think about him or the rejection. I drowned myself in the drill.

Until I heard my wolf whimper and then came the whispers. I didn’t have to turn. I knew.

Kenneth and of course Judith.

Kenneth’s father was the beta to the outgoing Alpha. Judith was the Alpha’s daughter; they were strong; they didn't need to train. Why were they here?

Their hands were intertwined together. They were saying something and he smiled at her. They moved together in sync. My wolf whimpered in pain. I ignored and caged her pain and forced myself to keep moving.

Kenneth's eyes managed to find me. Like he wanted me to see it.

“Katherine eyes forward!” My instructor barked.

I focused I won’t let him break me; he might have broken our bond.

I lifted my chin and focused on my training.

Reigns pov. ***** My eyes swept over the room, a crowd of confused wolves. I didn’t care much about their reaction. But there I saw her. She was amidst the crowd, wide eyed and stunned. When she met my eyes she quickly lowered her gaze. When Zeke was done addressing them, she slipped away among the crowd frightened. I chuckled. I could find her no matter where she hid. I turned towards Gerald. “Alpha Gerald,” I spoke my voice low and smooth but laced with power. The man straightened, trying to hide his fear. “My lord.” “I wonder,” I continued, “why the pack seems unaware of the hierarchy and who owns this land.” Gerald forced a laugh. “I believe they are just too stunned to acknowledge your presence, My lord.” I smirked. “Stunned.” He echoed unconvinced. “I will quickly prepare a place for you, your comfort is my utmost priority.” Gerald said while scurrying away from the Lycan. I watched him and smirked. “We have all the time now, don’t we?” Zeke step

Now today is the day a new Alpha is to be appointed. The entire pack was buzzing with excitement.Every member of the pack is expected to be there. Did I want to be there? No. But I had to be. I got dressed ,gathered what pieces remained of me, followed my parents towards the hall where the new Alpha will be appointed. Kenneth wasn’t the only candidate but everyone already knew the outcome. The other candidates were all staged to look like it was a competition. Kenneth wore a smug look. Alpha Gerald the outgoing Alpha stood on an elevated platform giving his speech. “Leadership is not about dominance alone,” he declared “but the strength to carry forward the legacy of our bloodline………” Then it happened. A sudden shift in the air. So sharp that it cut through the hall like a blade. It didn’t just feel like a chill, it was a force. A force that sent shivers to the bones. It silenced the murmurs. It suppressed everyone. Even Alpha Gerald had stopped talking mi

  • THE LYCAN’S OMEGA   Chapter Six

Kenneth’s POV. I have told myself a thousand times that I did the right thing. Rejecting Katherine was necessary. I want to be the next Alpha and I had to make a choice and the best choice was Judith. Judith is the best choice. Her father is the current Alpha Gerald, a Man whose backing will make me the best choice. Katherine was my mate but she was a complication, a weakness in my journey to become the Alpha. Whenever Judith suggested we go to the training ground. I didn’t refuse. Because whenever she looks at me I feel I still have a hold on her. But today. She didn’t even turn her head when I walked into the training ground. Normally she will look at me even if it’s only a glance. But today nothing. She stood with her friend Felicia, with a focused look on her face. I could tell they were speaking through mindlink. Her expression didn’t change yet. So I deliberately passed close enough for her to catch my scent. Something was off. She smelled different. I

Reigns povShe had fallen asleep curled in the sleep from exhaustion. When she woke up after stumbling into my room, I only intended to teach her a lesson for disturbing my peace. That was all. Somewhere between her resistance and surrender, something changed.I found myself drawn in, unable to let go. The way she held me, the sound she made, every glance from her glossy eyes. I wanted more again and again. She was unlike any wolf I have taken to bed. When I asked her name, she barely managed to say it.Katherine. I was intrigued by the effects I gave her. She was quite strong for an omega.I could smell her sadness, her ache and her hunger to forget.I wanted to conquer all.Now I simply watched her sleep. The morning light shined over her bare shoulders, her hair spiraled across the pillow. She shifted in her sleep, the sheets fell slightly, and I could see the marks I had left on her.The hickey trailed from her neck to collarbones then down to where the shits hid. A silent claim.

  • THE LYCAN’S OMEGA   Chapter Four

Katherine’s povIt was my wolf who woke up first.Through the thick fog in my mind by the alcohol . I had caged her, now that I was unconscious she could come out. She came out tasting the air. Then her instincts kicked in. Something powerful is here. She called out for me, her voice urgent. She called until she pulled me out to consciousness. My eyes fluttered open, my body heavy against the unfamiliar mattress. This wasn’t my room at the pack house. I sneaked out to clear my head, that I remembered.I listened to my wolf. Then I saw it.Not silver, not gold. But red eyes. They glowed in the dim light like room, it stared at me unblinking.I froze. My heart kicked hard against my ribs. I jerked upright. I was a foot away from a wolf I didn’t know. His presence was pressing. It dominated. He wasn’t a weak one. My wolf panicked. My lips moved before I even knew what I was saying. “How… where…” my hands curling on the sheets like they could save me.He didn’t answer my questions. He j

  • THE LYCAN’S OMEGA   Chapter Three

Reign’s POV The lights of the city where the New Haven pack was, were shining into the window of the SUV. I sat at the back of the car while Zeke was driving, the sound of the engine was the only sound that could be heard. Behind us was another SUV with my men in then all trained by Pure bloods. The pack house was now twenty minutes away. But I didn't want to rush into Gerald's new delusional found power. I smirked. I will go there on my own terms. “Slow down.” I told Zeke, my head tilting the corner. “We will stop here.” Zeke turned and looked at me over his shoulder “In the middle of nowhere.” “Exactly.” My mouth curved. The SUV turned into a narrow street, where they saw a low lit drinking spot. It was old but clean. Warm lights coming from the window. We got down from the vehicle and stepped inside the place. As we stepped into the place heads turned.Humans. Like they could feel I am dangerous even though they couldn’t name it. Zeke followed me a step closer to me while t
