CHAPTER ONE: KIERA THE MAFIA

Kiera's POV

"Hey Kiera take a sit"

The doctor said when I opened the door to his office.

I was at the training grounds two hours ago while practicing muay thai, when I felt a sharp pain in the top of my

head the pain was so much that I almost passed out. My driver hurriedly sent me to the nearest hospital.

"So what is the matter with me? Why did my head suddenly feel like it was splitting in half"

I answered as I sat down in the chair in front of him. My head feels so awful that it's making me feel so irritated and sensitive.

"I have bad news for you"

He seriously said while looking at me. Whatever it is I don't have time to wait more time. I need to know what's causing this pain.

"Don't waste my time just spill it"

I answered still annoyed, because my head was still hurting and I didn't even know the reason.

"According to the CT scan, there was a small lump in your brain "

He said in a serious tone.

"What!? Are you kidding me? So what will happen to me? Will I just going to die all of a sudden?"

I replied as I processed what he just said. This can't be happening.

I thought bullets or knives would be the ones who would end my life. Here I am now, shocked by this sudden news.

"No little sis calm down it is not yet confirmed if it is cancerous we need to take a biopsy for us to find out"

He said while holding my hands to help me calm down. I don't think it helped , because I'm so shocked now and I don't even know how to react I am too young to be sick.

By the way, you heard it right, he is my older brother. He is Kelvin Shaun 27 years old and a neurologist. I know he is too young to be a doctor but I guess nothing is impossible for our family, because we are not just strong we're smart too.

After some thinking, I finally understand something sickness is part of life so I just need to go with the flow.

"It doesn't matter, one thing is for sure I'm sick," I said and left alone to unwind.

After 1 week

Now I'm here walking alone in the hallway of the hospital, still processing everything that my brother told me. He just said that I should live healthier and stay away from trouble . I have a small lump in my brain which is a tumor but the good thing is it's not cancerous and I can get rid of it by just taking medicine and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

The bigger problem is my lifestyle because I'm not just any ordinary girl. I'm a daughter of a Mafia boss.

Yes, that's right my family is a Mafia royalty, in fact all of us. My grandpa my dad my mom, my older brother and of course, I'm a Mafia too.

How can I live normally? Troubles are already part of my everyday life.

All these thoughts are making my headache worse again.

AT SHAUN FAMILY HOUSE

My father, my mom, and my brothers were now eating dinner together at our big dining table when my eldest brother broke the silence.

"Ehem, Dad, what is your plan for Kiera? Will she still be part of the association?" My brother Kelvin asks calmly.

Glad that he asked, because I'm curious too about what my next step will be.

"Kiera will be transferring schools and will be living with your aunt Sheena in Hallow City in the meantime"

My mom answered instead.

Hallow City? What? That’s in the countryside, right?

This can't be happening.

"Wait, Mom what do you mean I'm transferring schools in the countryside and who is Aunt Sheena?"

I replied I don't have any memories about my aunt that they are talking about.

"She is my younger sister, Kiera be good to her and respect her like she is your mother, she is kind you don't need to worry too much"

Mom said while smiling at me.

Oh no. I don't think I'm ready for this. No parties, no fun what will I do in the countryside?

"But how about my training mom? "

I asked and I think I look so puzzled right now because of this sudden twist of events, I'm not ready for this and didn't expect anything like this to happen.

“It’s also my 18th birthday in the next few days,” I added.

“ Let’s prioritize your health Kiera, birthday parties can wait your health is more important “

Mom answered.

I appreciate how they care about me but I don't know if can live there happily.

"Kiera listen to your mom, it will be for your safety and recovery you can come back when you are all better."

My dad said in his baritone voice and I just stayed silent because no one can disobey dad's order.

"Kiera don't worry Aunt Sheena is kind and she is not so strict so you can live there comfortably," My brother Kenneth said while smiling.

I just nod as a reply. It feels like they are abandoning me or are they really worried about my condition? I thought it was not that serious. Whatever, I don't know anymore.

I guess I don't have any other choice but to obey them for now. I don't think life in the countryside will suit me. I will just stay there for a while, then come back here as soon as possible.

SOMEWHERE IN SHAUN FAMILY’S HOUSE

Claire, Kiera’s mom, and Kennedy, Kiera’s dad are talking seriously.

“Do you think we are doing the right thing?” Claire asked worriedly while looking at the view outside the window.

“We don’t have a choice, her life is on the line.

The prophecy is happening . Her headache is the sign” Kennedy answered.

Claire just stayed silent with a worried face.

"We cannot delay it any longer or the matter will be much worse" Kennedy added

“I’m regretting everything now, this is our fault if we didn’t accept her condition this would not be happening .”

Claire said as tears ran down her cheeks.

“ It’s not your fault we need to save ourselves back then and that’s the only way to do that”

Kennedy replied as he hugged Claire.

“Everything will be alright, “ He said to comfort her wife, but even he was worried about Kiera because he knew the secrets of Hallow City.
