My eyes snap Silas's face, but his are fixed on Mona.

"Silas!" the witch warns. "You're being rude by insinuating they are liars."

"I'm not," he keeps his smile in place, which annoys me further. "Just wondering why she would sign a contract with the start date as her sister's wedding day. I mean, she's the duke's daughter, what was the rush anyway?"

"That's none of your business, Silas." I say, but he doesn't look at me. He's solely focused on Mona.

"Your lordship," he turns to Lore. "I think your wife's family are full of secrets." He smiles then looks at me with amusement in his eyes. "Right, uhm?" He acts as if trying to remember what name to call me. "Lisa? Oh! Mona."

"Enough!" Papa slams his hand on the table. "You will not come to my house and disrespect my family. Now, I'll politely ask you to leave." He addresses Silas.

Without looking the least bit offended, Silas smiles and stands.
