Eamon's story

Having washed up and change into something new. He checked his wrist watch. He was getting late.

He hurried down stairs, still thinking of the best way to approach alien. He kind of like calling her that.

Though Something she looks intimidating.

And sometimes, small and innocent.

What’s he gonna do to her?

Nothing!

Not like he could do anything. Than try understand her.

As ms Teresa said.

Which seems like a workload.

That’s never gonna easy.

She was still seated on the dining table where they had left her. She hadn’t moved an inch from there.

“Hey”

She turned to him.

“Go have a bath, wash up or something.”

She raised her brows at him.

“I mean bath, you know..”  he hit his palm on his head and tried demonstrating. At this point he almost gave up.

He pulled out a chair and sat down. She was still having the same look on her face. Completely looking like a lost puppy.

“Just forget about it. I totally forgot you ain’t from this earth. According to ms Teresa you jumped down obviously from hell. Naked. Right? You don’t bathe or wear dresses. Isn’t?

Beside where is the dress I gave you.” He follows her eyes, she was looking everywhere.

He palm his face.

Totally discouraged.

This isn’t going anywhere.

“You alien. Listen to me and listen good.” He scotch closer. Bringing him knee together.

“You live in my house and you’re gonna do everything I ask you to. If not we’re not gonna be on the same train..”

she growls at him.

Showing him, her long and sharp teeth.

Dixon fell back from his sit. Falling with the chairs.

She growled again. And this time louder and deadpanning.

He ran to the kitchen and returned with the mop stick he kept behind the door.

“Don’t you dare come near me. Witch! “

He was pacing in front of her. Preparing to hit her with it.

She stood up, from the dining.

With just her standing. He flung the stick away running upstairs.

“Ungrateful witch!.”

She remain standing. And slowly walked to the kitchen.

Seeing she was gone. He came down, raking his hair with his fingers.

“...unbelievable.”

He laughed bitterly.

“Am the most unfortunate person ever.”

“What have I gotten myself into?”

she came out, with the dress in her hands. The innocent look was back on. And she was undeniably cute. He looked elsewhere.

She stretched the dress to him.

He glared at her.

He should have ask Ms Teresa for help.

Why didn’t he think about it at first. Taking the cloth from her hands and hurled it back on her face.

“Here.”

“Wear them.”

She was Staring at the cloth as it fell to the ground.

“I give up.” She was staring dumbly at him.

“Stay here and don’t leave.”

He turned his back on her, walking out of the room. With all his might.

The entire strength he could muster so he doesn’t run in front of her.

When he turned, he saw her staring at him.

He shouldn’t care.

He shrugged and opened the door.

Then making sure he slam it behind him. So she could flinch but she didn’t..

“Eamon, you have a quest”

A quest? Was the least person he expected. He was never visited, everyone had completely forgotten about him when he was sentenced to prison. Now having a quest sounds strange to him. Nonetheless, he followed the officer to the visitor room. With the thought of who the quest was.

“Eamon!” Dixon called. Engaging him in a hug immediately he came out. He took a few seconds before he hugged him back.

Eamon sniffs, his hands tightened around him.

“I miss you so much Dixon. And am very happy right now, seeing you again.”

Dixon pulled away, with his hands still on his shoulders.

“You’re my only hope Dixon, the only one I leaned on.”

“Let’s have a seat.”

They sat down. But still held hands across the table. Saying nothing for a while, just staring at themselves. Saying so much with just their eyes.

“How is the world treating you?”

Dixon shrugged.

“Nothing I didn’t expect. A lot happened you know.” He sighed, staring down at their hands.

“And most shocking of them all is that am stocked with some strange girl..” he chuckled. Looking away from Eamon.

“Not Beryl. Who is she?”

“I haven’t understand yet. What am trying to say is that I don’t know who is she? That’s what  I have been trying to know. But hasn’t been that productive. I guess I just had to wait for a while.”

“Why are stocked up with someone you don’t know. What if she tries to hurt you or something? What happened to Beryl then. She’s someone else. Isn’t.”

“I know it’s sounds weird and like I don’t know what am doing. Actually I don’t. Let’s just forget about it. It just happens she lives with me. And Beryl, though I hate to talk about it but..”

“It was kind of obvious. I knew she had another man, even when I tried telling you, you didn’t believe me.”

“It’s all in the past now.”

Dixon only nodded. Pulled his hands away from Eamon and clasped them on his head. The thought of Beryl seated in front of him. Weeks ago. The last time she came here. To pay him a visit. Just the way he is sitting with Eamon now. Avoiding eye contact with him. She didn’t stay for more than three minutes. And he had to ponder on the thought on why she was here in the first place.

Now he was out he knew the reason. She didn’t know how she was gonna tell him. It’s over between them. The less minutes she spent with him. Was just with a question she asked.

‘How are you doing?’ And she left even before he could provide an answer.

Beryl. He loved her.

Getting over her. Wasn’t gonna that easy. The betray, he wasn’t expecting it at all.

Getting out of prison and getting married was the only thing he thought about.

He felt his eyes prickle with tears. Not a time to be sassy.

Rubbed his palm over his face.

Eamon patted his shoulders.

“There’s a new girl anyway..”

Dixon scoffed.

“Don’t even think about that!” Eamon laugh at him.

“You should see the look on your face. Is she that horribly Ugly..”

He couldn’t say she was ugly. Cause she wasn’t. Her dark red hair was pretty though it was tangled and messy. The innocent looks he sometimes gets from her. Making her look cute and small.

“You’re thinking about her ain’t you?” Eamon teased.

“Can we talk about why am here. You’ll be sent back in the less five minutes.”

“Is there something you want to talk about. Other than the girl you’re stocked up with.” He throw a wink.

“Come of it Eamon!”

“Fine.” He rolled his eyes.

“What is it you want to talk about.”

“I’ll be meeting with Detective Sean. Tomorrow and I need to to tell me everything again. Everything that happened. Two years ago that brought you here. He’s gonna help with the case. And also with lawyer Nate. He’s gonna see you today. We’re gonna get you out..”

“On Tuesday. Two years back. At exact time. 6:06pm..” he wipe his tears as he began.

“I was rounding off my shift. As a delivery guy. When a call came in from Mr Peters himself. So I had to deliver what he had ordered...”

•flashbacks•

Eamon hurriedly tuck the boxes in the power bike. He wasn’t supposed to do the delivery but since his colleague wasn’t here yet. He had to go in his stead. Help him do the delivery. He pulled over at the address given to him and came down from the bike. Holding the boxes. Marching towards the apartment.

He knocked for a couple of times no reply. And he decided to turn the door knob and he did. The door opened with no one in sight.

“Hello..Mr. Peters.”

Surprisingly his voice echos.

“Anybody home!”

At that point. He had to leave. The uneasiness he was feeling was overwhelming.  He pulled back from the door when he heard footsteps coming his way.

“Hey! Delivery guy. Come here!” Eamon turned and stared at the face of the man. He couldn’t see his face. Since he was standing at the dark part of the room.

Before he could reply, he knock him off. Instantly. The boxes falling from his hands, He dragged Eamon into the house. And that was when he saw the scar on his both cheeks.

That was all he remembered.

When he woke up. The first thing he saw was the body of Mr Peters. Covered with blood.

“No...no” he staggered to his feet.

Glancing round the room. The room was dark. He couldn’t tell how long he had been here. Moving towards the door, he touch the knob, that was when he saw his hands was stain with blood.

He shivers. Wishing he could sink to the ground.

“No. Oh no!” He cried running out of the room. Into the hands of the cops.

He froze seeing them.

“Get him. Hands in the air!”

It was like a dream. A very bad one.

Yet that minute change his life. Everything about him. Eamon. The son struggling to save his mom from cancer.

She died.

After hearing the news of his arrest.

They held him. Handcuffs his hands, pushing him to the van.

The culprit has been caught..

What could he say. How was he gonna defend himself.

Perhaps It was a dream or a game or something.

But was it ???
