CHAPTER 2

Twelve dark werewolves stood on all fours at the entrance of the woods. It was another hunt night. Soon, a dark werewolf arrived, and his blue eyes shone in the darkness. Even as a werewolf, Damian still had a stern look. By his side is a snow-white werewolf, the Luna.

As beautiful and elegant as ever. Both Hertha and Kyle looked good together. The true pair to rule the Northern park. Behind them was a black werewolf with white spots. Hayley. Her eyes were as blue as Damian's.

As soon as they arrived, the hunt started. The males went together, except they went with Hayley. Damian had told Alexia forehand that the males will be needing Hayley to want them to be strong, even if Of course, Luna wasn't comfortable. She wondered what Hayley was and that male werewolves needed her for strength. At the hunt, she insisted she didn't need a mere omega to be strong for her hunt. A proud Luna she was. She went in a different direction for her hunt.

Some hours later. Hertha felt the presence again. She was beginning to get frightened. No, Luna never gets scared. She was the strongest of all the females in the park. She came to an abrupt halt and turned around swiftly. Fresh blood from her hunt still dripping from her mouth, she looked intimidating. This time, the presence was behind her and she turned again. She squinted her eyes to see probably.

A figure was coming at her, a werewolf. As it approached her, she could see it now. It was Hayley. Her face didn't look friendly, not the smiling Hayley. She looked like she could kill. She kept coming at Hertha. The Luna refused to show weakness and take a step back. She was scared. Yes, she was but she was a Luna and a Luna doesn't back down. Especially not when an opponent was a female.

"I got lost, Hertha. The boys must be looking for me. Help me." Hayley finally spoke. Pheew. The Luna was glad it wasn't dangerous. But how did she know her name? Hertha was sure Alexia didn't tell the strange girl her name. Alexia would never.

"How did you know my name?" Hertha charged. The girl was beginning to get on her last nerve and it took all the self-control in her to hold back from pouncing on her and disfiguring her beautiful black face.

"The men were talking about you and I overheard them call you Hertha. I am Diana by the way." The Luna didn't say a word further. She went past Diana, stopping halfway to turn around and tell the strange girl to follow her. She took the girl back to the men.

Dawn came and the hunt was over. The men returned to their houses to feed their families.

__________

Hayley sat on the little bed in her room. She was knitting a little sweater. Her door flung open and Damian came in. He closed the door after him, a big grin on his face. She smiled when she saw him, Diana made a little sound. He walked over to where she sat, knelt in front of her, and cupped her face into his hands. He brought their faces and forehead together and kissed her. The kiss got intense and soon, their hands were all over their bodies. Damian's wolf couldn't wait to claim Hayley. His mate. The wolf was like a raging beast threatening to take over. To claim her and mark her.

Hayley disengaged from the kiss.

"You wouldn't want to mark me now. She is still living her dream as the Luna. You promised her." His wolf growled. Damn her. He rose and left. But she had other plans. She was going to end things herself.

Alexia left the house almost immediately after the hunt. She had a territory to protect. She stood at the entrance of the woods and transformed, then she leapt into it. Walking around slowly, she was observing. She wanted to see if she could feel the presence again and she did. No, they were many today. She slowly stopped walking and turned around, hoping to find someone or something.

"Hertha!" Her voice rang through the woods. It was firm and authoritative. It was Hayley. She turned around swiftly and the girl was standing some distance away from her. Immediately their eyes met, and she felt a sharp pain on her skin. An arrow. She was shot. She let out a scream and transformed. The arrow was shot at her back. She reached behind her a removed the weapon. Hayley stood there watching the event unfold. She looked at the weapon and recognized it immediately. It was the deadliest of the arrows in the park. It was used only during the war, and it was always poisoned.

HAYLEY'S  POV

She had been watching the Luna for a long time. Ever since she arrived, she had her eyes on Alexia. Damian had told her before she came that the woman will not just accept fault She was Luna and she was going to put up a fight. She could see that the moment she met her. A strong-willed woman. Alexia was strong but not as strong as she thought herself to be. Not even as strong as Hayley. The mate of the Alpha.

She had wanted to kill Alexia in the woods on that hunt night but Hertha was at her fiercest and she feared she might not be able to. Today she was. She was going to kill her.

And now she was standing face to face with Alexia alone in the woods. Okay not alone, she had a man skilled with bow and arrows in the woods with her. He was the one who shot Alexia. She began walking closer to the woman. Alexia would not harm her now. The poison from the arrow was enough to make her weak before killing her.

"You!" Alexia growled at her. "Stay where you are!" At last. An emotion of fear was beginning to reflect on Luna. Hayley could see the fear in her silver eyes and made sure she made the hate in her blue ones known.

"He lied to you, Alexia." She took a step closer to Luna and Alexia stepped back. She was enjoying this. The fear this seemingly strong woman was showing was a thrill to Hayley. She told the Luna of Damian's deceit. She told her that she was the real Luna. Alexia was getting weaker than ever from the poison. She was already on her knees and it won't be long before she finally dies.

*** ALEXIA'S  P.O.V ***

She was beginning to feel weak. She knew it was from the poison on the arrow. The strange girl was talking nonsense. Her Damian would never do a thing like that and even if the girl was Damian's mate, she was the one with his heart. Their bond was stronger than any mate'. The poor girl was only wasting her time.

All she had to do was stay strong. She knew Damian would come for her and she had to stay strong. The poison was going fast through her blood and she was getting weaker. And she hated it. She was a Luna. She wasn't supposed to be weak.

They heard approaching footsteps. Alexia silently wished it helped. She was running out and she wouldn't hold on any longer. The footsteps became louder. The owners were close. Good.

"Hayley! What are you doing here?" It was Damian. He came with a few males. Alexia felt relieved. She knew that her love and Damian's were stronger. She was lying on the ground now. The poison had already weakened her and she was holding on by a thread. She called for help. She was weak and her voice came more of a whisper.

"She's almost dead. Don't worry." It was Hayley.

"I was going to it myself. You should have waited for me. Are you hurt?"

"I'm fine."

With Hayley's reassurance that she was fine, Damian reached over and swept her off her feet. Holding her bridal style. He turned to go his way but stopped after taking some steps.

"Kill her." He ordered the other men there. And they did. With a sword driven deep into her heart, Luna resigned to fate. Dead.

DAMIAN'S  POV

He arrived in the woods in search of Alexia. He had to eliminate her, it was the only way. His wolf couldn't hold it anymore. It was eager and excited to mark and claim Hayley. But Alexia had to be out of the way. He loved Alexia too. He spent his whole life loving her. But she was not his mate. And his wolf refused any other person but his mate.

He was shocked when he saw Hayley with Alexia. Alexia, lying on the ground lifelessly. She called for help when he came but he couldn't. He couldn't help her. Maybe he could, but he didn't want to. He carried his mate out of there after giving an order for the Luna to be killed.

________________

He arrived home with Hayley. His mate. He carried her in bridal style from the woods into his bedroom. Their bedroom. Alexia was no more and the room was now his and Hayley's. He gently laid her on the bed. Their eyes not leaving each other. Hayley reached out and held the back of his neck, lowering him down for a kiss. They kissed.

"Take me. Claim me, Damian. I'm yours." She sounded pleading. And he did. He took her that afternoon and made her his.

That night, they slept together. Holding each other's bodies for comfort. They were meant for each other and they knew it. They looked into each other's blue eyes and understood each other. They were meant to rule the park together. Nothing has ever felt right.

The next morning, Alexia sat on the large king-sized bed. Her gown flowed on the floor. Her eyes scanned the room again. She never thought she would be there again, but now she was. Sitting and waiting for Damian who said he wanted to speak to her.

The door flung open and he walked in. As tall and handsome as always. His crafty smile on his face. He walked over to her and cupped her face in his hands, kissing her forehead.

"Sorry, I'm late." He said. His voice is deep and masculine.

"What is it that you wanted to talk about?" Her voice is soft and smooth.

"Hayley." The door opened and she walked in. A smile on her face. Alexia looked at her and it all came back. Her smile, her face, her sneakiness, and lastly. The scene in the woods. Her death.

"Alexia, meet Hayley. Hayley, Alexia. My loving wife." His voice echoed in the large room.

"Leave us," Alexia spoke. Hayley left.

"Your mate. You brought her to this house?" Her voice was void of any emotions. He, like the last time, denied Hayley to her. The park needed her to be stronger, he said. He would not take her as his mistress nor lay with her, he said.

She looked up at him. Her silver-coloured eyes were sharp and accusing.

"No!" More of a whisper. A park didn't need a girl for them to be stronger and certainly not Damian's mate. He pleaded more. But she would not have it. He rose and left.

She had lost her position as a Luna once and she would not take chances again. She was angry. The nerve of them.

That night, she went out into the woods. Hertha wanted a run and she would go for it. If the strange blonde girl did anything again, she was going to kill herself. She stood at the entrance of the woods and transformed. Hertha was the same. Snow-white with silver eyes. She ran into the woods and ran like she haven't done before.
