Deandra POV
The human world was very different from what I thought it would be like; they were very accommodating, and I almost forgot about my species. “Andra, why are you seated here?” Ryder asked me when he got back from a business meeting. “I had a lot on my mind, so I came here to cool it off.” I replied to him as we both went into the house. It's been a very emotional period for me, thinking about the things that happened in the pack and how my once-happy family turned sour. “Are you still thinking about him?” Ryder asked as we both sat on the couch. “It's hard not to.” I replied almost immediately. The only thing that I could think of is how to get back at him for what he put me through. I want him to go through pains just like I did, and as for Hope, I'll make sure she goes through hell. “It's fine. I know it's hard for you to move on after all that has happened. I just need you to be calm.” Ryder advised me. Ryder had been the one calming me down so that I don't end up doing something I will regret. “I want him to pay dearly.” I clenched my teeth with my hands on my belly. Each day I remember how I lost my child makes me hate them even more. After so many years of trying, I finally got pregnant only to lose it like that. “Listen to me, Andra, look at me. You need to be calm; if you go about it the wrong way, you might end up regretting your actions.” Ryder advised me again. I was wondering why he took the whole thing seriously and why he really cares about how things play out between me and Alpha Daniel. “Why are you doing this?” I asked. Ryder's facial expression changed the moment he heard the question I asked him. “Why are you asking me such a question?” I could tell he was not comfortable with the question I asked him. “Why are you asking me that all of a sudden?” He asked. Ryder was suddenly acting suspicious; with the way he refused to answer my question, I couldn't help but suspect his kind gestures towards me. “You’ve helped me twice now, which makes me curious about you, and you always arrive at the right time.” I explained it to him. “I think you're a good person, and you don't deserve to be treated the way they were treating you; that's why I'm on your side. I have no other reason.” There was so much sincerity in the way he spoke to me that it made me believe him. It felt good to have someone on my side who genuinely cared about me. Hearing him say those good words made me feel better. “I'm sorry the question made you feel a kind of way. I was only curious because of how you've been nice to me,” I explained to him so that he wouldn't feel bad about the question I asked him. “I can't keep calm anymore; I want all of them to go through worse pain than I went through.” I added. ******* It was getting dark already, and I was yet to have dinner because I didn't have the appetite to eat anything. While I was in my room struggling to sleep, I heard a knock on the door. I know it's Sarah; she's here to call me for dinner. “Go away.” I said to her tiredly. I know that going downstairs would mean I have to eat dinner, but I was really not interested in eating anything. I reluctantly stood up from the bed and walked out of the room. While walking downstairs, I sighted Ryder sitting in the dining area. I got to the dining area and sat down quietly. I was not in the mood to eat anything, but no matter what I said, Ryder would not understand me. “What took you so long?” Ryder asked the moment I sat down. “Nothing, I was trying to process if I should be here or not.” Ryder stared at me when he heard what I said to him. He could already tell there was something bothering me. “Hey, I know it's not easy for you, but remember you have something you're pursuing. This is the time you need to be strong.” Ryder encouraged me. I felt better after hearing him talk to me. Remembering what I will achieve very soon boosted my energy. “Maybe that's what I really needed to hear,” I said to him and let out a soft smile before digging into my food. While I was eating, the only thing that clouded my mind was how I would become victorious in the fight I'm about to start. The only thing that bothered me was the way I had to remain calm, like Ryder had been saying. Ryder couldn't hide the smile as he watched me eat my food. “I have decided that I'm going to leave your house.” Ryder was shocked to hear what I said. “Why? I mean, you're comfortable here, so why do you want to leave?” He asks me curiously. “Ryder, this is my fight, and I want to achieve everything on my own.” I explained it to him. Ryder was not okay with my decision to leave, but my mind is already made up, and I cannot change my mind. When we were done eating, I stood up and headed back to my room. The moment I got to the room, reality hit me again with the fact that my life had turned upside down in one day. I lost everything that I had—my love, my baby, and almost my life—all because of Alpha Daniel. I stood up and walked towards the window while thinking about the whole thing. I heard my phone ring, so I walked back to the bed and picked up the phone. I was wondering who the caller was because I couldn't recognize the number that was calling. “Andra.” The caller mentioned my name; my heart skipped a beat as I recognized the caller's voice. I cannot believe he has the guts to call me. I had to pretend like I didn't recognize the voice just in case it's not who I think it is. I dropped the phone back on the bed and rushed out of the room angrily. “Andra, why are you running like that? Are you okay?” Ryder asked and grabbed my hands.Writer’s POV It’s been two weeks already, and there was nothing from Ryder yet. He was yet to regain consciousness, and his situation was getting scarier as the doctors were not hopeful about his situation. Instead, they kept talking about hoping for a miracle because he had little or no chance of survival. “Our kids are growing faster than I imagined.” Andra said to the unconscious body lying on the bed. She would always come to update him on everything going on in the pack and how things are running smoothly with the help of Daniel and Hope, who have stayed by her side all this while. “You know you’re beginning to scare me. It’s been weeks already; you need to wake up already.” Andra said and started crying uncontrollably. She was trying her best to hold in the tears, but she just couldn’t. She couldn’t keep pretending to be fine, and she hasn’t been able to eat well since he became unconscious. “You need to see your kids; you need to be with me and make up for lost times.
Writer’s POV That day that the war happened and the kids were brought back, it was later realized that Leo was the one holding the kids, and the only reason why he came back into her life was because he needed to monitor their search, and Aliya told him everything, not knowing that he was the one doing everything. She felt like she betrayed Andra, and her brother was in the mix, and Andra warned her not to accept her brother back. She just couldn’t believe that she didn’t worsen the whole thing, which is why she chose to stay far from Andra, and since then she never called or texted. “I caused it.” Hope said a little above a whisper. Andra walked closer to her the moment she heard what Hope said. “No, don’t say that, Hope. At that time you didn’t think what you were doing was wrong, and don’t forget you tried apologizing to her, but she still chose to leave for her own peace. I know that with time she would come around and find a place in her heart to forget about the past a
Writer’s POV “Daniel, you would go back there and tell them that you are not making any peace. Have you forgotten what his mother made us go through? Have you forgotten how your father favored him more than you? This is the time for you to get back everything and make him pay for your sufferings. “Mom, stop! Can’t you see that I’m at peace now? The people are happy; we don’t need war to be at peace with ourselves. Can’t you see that I’m happy now?” Daniel asked his mother who was being insensitive about the whole thing. “What are you saying, Daniel? Can’t you see he is successfully using your head? He wants you to give up everything your father worked hard to keep for you.” When Yolanda said this, Daniel turned to look at her. “I told you that day your dad said you have to promise him that you will take good care of the pack and keep his legacy.” Yolanda smiled; she just wanted to get to his head and make him stop thinking of giving up his desire of becoming the Alpha of the Da
Deandra POV It felt like my heart was burning as I was crying upstairs. I didn’t know how to feel after what I heard Yvonne say; it was just a roller coaster of emotion piling up everything that has happened over the month. I really wanted to disappear and go far away. After crying for a while in the room, I was feeling better. I felt better that I had let out everything that was bothering me; I was relieved to see that my heart was getting lighter. I stood up from the place I was sitting and headed to the kids' wardrobe. Their clothes are still smelling new. They never got the chance to wear them. It’s been months now, and I don’t know anything about my kids; I don’t know if they are okay or not. Instead, I went to live with the people that took my kids away. When I was feeling better, Ryder walked into the room. I removed my face from where he was and folded my hands around my chest angrily. I was pissed with him. I still can’t forgive him for all the horrible things that
Writer’s POV While Andra was still looking at the picture, a call came in. She saw how it was saved, so she didn’t hesitate to pick it. “Don’t you dare prank me about falling ill; you have done it before.” Hope said to Andra while she was with Emma’s phone. Andra couldn’t believe Hope was talking to her mother like that. She was relieved to know that Emma was not lying when she said her daughter doesn’t want her in her life. “You know what? I thought you were going to change. I was ready to give you a second chance after you successfully helped me take the kids, but right now I don’t think I can forgive you because you keep using your fake illness to bring me closer.” Hope scolded on the phone. Andra closed her eyes upon hearing the cold and heartless things Hope was saying over the phone; she couldn’t believe Hope could be this cold to her mother as well. She didn’t want to say anything at first, but Hope kept saying she was lying when she was really struggling with her
Deandra POV I was wondering what it could be. I was so curious that I couldn’t stay in the house for another minute. From the way he sounded, it was a very serious issue, so I was desperately invested in it. I needed to know what it was all about and why I needed to go myself. If it wasn’t as important as he made it seem, he would definitely lose his job. While I was heading out of the house, I suddenly realized that I might not be able to leave the house without Emma asking where I’m headed, and when she asks, what do I tell her? I paused, rushing, and started thinking of what to tell her when I am leaving. After thinking for a while, I decided to just think of anything that pops up in my head at that moment and tell her. “Are you going somewhere?” Emma asked when she saw me downstairs. I stopped in my tracks the moment I heard what she asked me. “I just need to hurry down to get something.” I said to Emma, trying my best to not let her suspect me in any way. “Okay, l
