THE RUNAWAY ALPHA

Andrea's POV

I was in my grade 12 when I heard the most shocking news of my life. Never had I imagined that the day will come not to talk of it coming this soon. I was in the class in a school for just us werewolves when I heard my name over the PA system - "Andrea Brigadier please report to my office"

I was quite surprised, though my father was an alpha and I was used to getting my name called by everyone and anyone, her tone sounded a bit shaky like she were sad. I left the class to meet her in her office and she looked at me almost in tears. Our principal was really emotional. The slightest thing would make her cry a river. I just sat there staring at her as she wiped away her tears. She tried to communicate with me but the proper words didn't just come out. Moments later, she gathered enough courage to speak.

"I hate to be the person to tell you this but...your parents are dead" Mrs Patricia said.

Her words hit me like a stray bullet. It was like the whole world went silent. It was so unexpected, so sudden, it just had to be planned.

"How did it happen?" I asked sternly with zero emotions. Mrs Patricia didn't want to tell me.

"How the fuck did it happen?!" I asked angrily and still, she gave me no answer. I stormed out of her office in anger. As I was about to leave the school, a black car parked right in front of the school's entrance. Two guys came out of the car and demanded that I got in. Obviously, I refused their demand not until Beta Joshua came out of the car. He was my father's right-hand man. I trusted him so I got into the car.

As we drove, he told me about my parent's death and how they died. He blamed the hunters for their deaths. Many years ago the humans and werewolves formed a treaty which stated that the humans would live on their side of the territory while the werewolves would live on theirs. If unhuman acts were heard of in the human's territory, harsh measures would be unfolded. But this wasn't the same for the humans. If they were to be found on our side of the territory, nothing would happen to them and if anything did, we would face the consequences. Some humans don't know that we exist, the ones that did basically hated us.

Long ago, us wolves ruled the city, but when the Santa Clara family came in, the humans took over the city in a way we would never forget. They found our weakness's; silver and wolfsbane and then they exiled us. We started off as a small pack of 20 and years later, we grew vastly.

Joshua told me that he and my parents had a meeting with the representative of the human faction; Mrs Barnsley, she was a direct descendant of the Santa Clara family. The meeting was sabotaged and he escaped by the skin of his teeth. A single tear drop ran down my cheeks. I didn't want Joshua to see me in times of weakness. Then he broke another shocking news to me.

"Your father was our alpha, your mother, our luna. It is with great pleasure that I wish to announce that you will become our new alpha. After all, it is your birthright" Joshua said to me giving me a little nudge in my arms.

"Alpha? I'm an eighteen-year-old high school girl who just lost her parents and you want me to lead over a hundred werewolves?" I asked confused and a bit afraid.

"Don't worry Andrea, you won't lead your people on your own. I'll be by your side to guide you" Joshua assured me like it was going to make me feel any less better.

"What about school?" I asked like I gave a shit about it.

"From now on you will be homeschooled just like my son; Lucien did. That's who I'm taking you to meet"

"I'm leaving school? I need to say my goodbyes Joshua. If you would please turn the car around" I begged and after a moment of thought, Joshua ordered his driver to turn the car around.

We got back to my school and I got down from the car. By then the students were already in the cafeteria so I headed there. I met my best friend Lilian. She was sitting all alone. She was like my other half, we told each other everything that went on in our lives. Me leaving school was going to be a real heartbreaker for her. I slowly sat by her side and immediately her moody face changed.

"I've been looking all over the place for you. Since Mrs Patricia called you to her office you never came back. And why don't you have your meal? Today is Taco Tuesday, your favourite day of the week" Lilian said as I watched her smiling. I couldn't find the words to tell her that I was leaving school.

"Why are you smiling? Do I have something in my teeth?" Lilian asked in paranoia.

"No no no. I'm just gonna miss you, miss us. Every person in this school treats me like a princess because they know that my father is an alpha. But besides all that you're the only motherfucker that loves me for being me, Andrea Brigadier" I said being all emotional and trying to hold back the tears in my eyes.

"Ok hold on, why are you talking like this. Is something going on?" Lilian asked so confusedly and then I took a deep breath and began talking.

"My parents died, Lily and...and I have to go... I have to leave school because I'm becoming the next alpha" I said already in tears.

"Are you crying because your parents died, because you're leaving school or because you're becoming my supreme overlord? Because I'm crying for all reasons" Lilian asked already in tears as well.

"Me too" I replied as we hugged each other.

"I will always love you no matter what Lily" I said.

"Me too Andrea" Lilian replied.

"Okay, that's enough. I've gotta go now" I said pulling myself from Lilian's tight grip. I stood up from the seat and adjusted my clothes.

"Bye Lilian" I said and then I left for the car. Joshua had his driver drive us to an apartment. There, I met his son; Lucien. He introduced his son to me and vice versa and then he left the apartment. He said he was going to get something and that he'd be back in a moment. I and his son were the only two people in the house left. His son and I were in the same room doing nothing. We didn't speak to each other until moments later.

"Sorry about your parents" Lucien said.

"Can we not talk about it?" I replied a bit annoyed.

"Ok...so what do you want us to talk about?" Lucien asked with a smile.

"Do you like it here, just you? No school, no friends, no nothing" I asked out of curiosity.

"I liked the idea of school, but my father didn't. He tried talking your dad into getting you homeschooled since you are you know...the alpha's daughter but he refused" Lucien said.

"School is a great place...to find friends that is" I jeered and them Lucien and I laughed.

"From the way things are going I think you would make a great mating partner" Lucien said and shocked I was again.

"Excuse me?" I asked confused.

"He didn't tell you, we are supposed to get married"

"What?!" I said in uttermost shock.
