CHAPTER 5

Zach’s main focus was to find people responsible for her death. They would suffer the same fate as she did or worse.

The very thought of his revenge plan brought a bad taste to his mouth. But it had to be done. Otherwise, he would not experience any peace.

As he was driven towards his new house, his car drove slowly past the Kent Mansion. The sprawling entrance to the home served as a bitter reminder of his past life. When he had accepted life as it came along. But not anymore.

He was back to claim it all. And he was back with a vengeance towards the entire family. His wife’s previous humiliation would not go unpaid.

Within the Kent Household, Grandma Kent was resting thinking of a way forward for the family. She did not expect that her family would meet its downfall during her lifetime. Her legacy would be one of failure if she failed to keep the company afloat.

As she continued thinking of a plan, her mind slowly drifted towards her granddaughter Rachel. How did things get this bad within her family? Rachel was not her favourite but at least she was honest in her work.

Moments after kicking her out, she had almost begun regretting her decision. She knew that her granddaughter would never do such a thing but her pride would not let her bring them back into the fold. She decided to simply leave them to their own devices.

Hours after kicking them out, she had received news of her death and the death of her would-have-been great-grandchild. The sorrow in her heart was just slight, as she did not have a bond with her granddaughter but life had to move on.

But she mourned for the child who would have been her great-grandchild. As a mother, she felt the loss. But life had to move on.

As she got out of bed and dressed, an idea slowly came to her.

She quickly called a meeting of her family to make a pronouncement.

She was going to sell part of the company to get some funding.

“Sit down all of you.” She said as she sat quickly at the head of the table. “I have come to a decision. I will be selling thirty percent of the company to the highest bidder to raise capital. This way, we will not see bankruptcy.”

Murmurs erupted as the family began arguing amongst themselves. James’ father, Spencer spoke up first, “Mother, you cannot be serious. This business is our family legacy. Selling it would be selling our legacy. We should not do this.”

“If not, then what should we do? You have run this business to the ground and cannot provide a solution on how to revive it yet you dare question my decision?” Grace Kent was livid. How could they question her when they were in turmoil due to their failure? “I solely and wholly own this company. What I say goes. So spread the word. I need to hear about the coming in by end of the day. End of discussion.”

As soon as the announcement was made, bids began coming in. The lowest bid was at a hundred million. By the end of the day, the highest bid was only a hundred and twenty million.

Zach received news on the auction but chose to bid his time. After all, no one would be willing to go to extravagant levels. No one had much faith in the company ever since it was black-listed by York Enterprises.

He had to get a stake in the Kent Corporation. Preferably a controlling stake otherwise he would not be able to exert his revenge on all of them as slowly and painfully as possibly.

He immediately made a call to his butler. “Register a company in my name as fast as possible and create a connection between it and York Enterprises. Then head to Kent Corporation and offer then three hundred million for a controlling stake in their company. If they fail to sell to you, find a way to suppress them until they no longer have an option to turn to you.”

“Right away Young Master.” The reply was quick and courteous before Zach hang up the phone.

The reckoning moment for the Kents was coming soon. At his hands. He could not help but smile cunningly.

He would get justice for his wife and his child. And no one could stop him.

His enemies had better choose a god and pray hard. The wrath that was about to rain on them would great enough to sink a nation.
