I suddenly woke up looking for Conan. I noticed that my wounds had been treated and walked around the room with my eyes, finding my nephew in a crib near my bed. My attention was captured by the enigmatic figure of the wolf, who had an icy white hue mixed with silver lights, entering the room.
“Don’t come any closer, beast!” I screamed, making an effort to look threatening, though my voice betrayed the nervousness I was feeling.
The wolf continued to advance, stopping in front of me and sitting on his hind legs. He made a mocking sound, as if he found my threats amusing.
“I’m warning you, creature. I will not allow you to hurt my baby!” I will repeat my words, and then there will be no doubt.
The furry one approached, looking at me intensely and smelling the surrounding air.
“This dog is not yours. The smell is similar, but not identical. It belongs to me,” he growled, showing his canines.
“Are you talking? Or am I going crazy, listening to a wolf conversation?” I stammered, perplexed.
“Give me the cub, human!” he growled even more menacingly, his voice resounded with authority.
“Puppy? You will not touch my baby!” I cried desperately, standing in front of the crib in a defensive posture.
The wolf came closer, and I tried to attack him. However, with a quick, barely noticeable move, he managed to knock me to the ground and put his weight on me, sniffing my neck.
“Being such weak prey, you shouldn’t challenge me,” he growled.
I shuddered, feeling a shiver in my spine.
“Her smell is similar, but not the same. You are not her, and this is not her cub!” he screamed, his teeth serrated near my warm skin.
Suddenly he turned away, turning into a tall man with fair skin and a proud look. His muscle-building exuded power and vitality. Her dark hair framed a sculpted face, and a well-groomed beard added a touch of sophistication. His confident posture and dominant presence drew attention, but mine went straight to the scar that ran from his shoulder to the middle of his bare chest.
“WHAT ARE YOU?” I exclaimed, shocked and frightened.
He declared with determination, “This puppy belongs to me!”
“Why do you call him a puppy? Who do you think you are to claim him?” I asked, raising a defiant eyebrow.
“I am your father and your king!” His voice sounded fierce and chilling.
“I-I... are you the father?” I stammered, bewildered by the revelation.
“Yes, therefore, the pup belongs to me,” he declared imperiously.
“No!” My response was firm, challenging his claim.
He arched an eyebrow, assessing my defiant reply.
“No? Interesting,” he commented, noting my growing determination.
Taking a resolute stance, I declared, “I promised my sister that I would care for and protect her child as if it were my own. I won't let you take him, even if I have to fight to the death!”
He observed me, recognizing the courage emerging in me. A nearly imperceptible smile crossed his lips, but his confusion and nervousness prevented her from noticing.
He acknowledged, “You don't have the scent of death about you; I believe your story.”
“Scent of death?” I repeated, surprised.
“Yes, your sister, she exuded illness and death. But there was something unique about her.” His eyes narrowed as he reflected. “At least, that's what I thought.”
Tears welled up in my eyes.
“If you knew she would die,” I clenched my fists in anger, “why didn't you take care of her? Why did you abandon her? And why have you only now appeared, wanting to take the only memory left of her?” I exclaimed, staring at him without yielding.
“Your sister disguised her scent well, leaving no traces. I found her through the scent of my pup. I sensed the threat around him and his desperation,” he pondered, approaching.
“Why did you attack me?” I asked, remembering the chilling scenes in the cemetery.
He shrugged. “I didn't attack her. I protected them.”
“Weren't the other wolves with you?”
“No, they're from a different pack. They want to destroy my heir and take my throne.” His gaze glittered, and I could feel the hatred in his words.
“Throne? Are you a king?” I asked, wide-eyed.
“Better yet, I am an ALPHA.” he said with a tone of pride and honor in his voice. His majestic posture revealed his power.
“What is an alpha?” I continued, still confused.
“You humans are so depressing...” He rolled his eyes with disdain.
I watched her posture carefully as she wiped a stubborn tear running down my face.
“I need answers. Who attacked us? Why do they want to kill Conan? How did you meet my sister?” I exhaled after answering the questions that were plaguing my mind.
“They were attacked by the Crescent Moon Pack goons. I’ve already answered your question about the cub. Don’t be slow, humans. Follow the answers,” he said clearly, clearly irritated by the questioning.
“All right, Mr. Rudeness.”
In a roar, he roared, “Mr. Alpha or King, cheeky human.”
His roar makes me take a few steps back until I lean into the cradle. Conan wakes up crying, as scared as I am. I turn to catch him, but a strong, rough hand supports him before I can reach him. His speed is absurd, beyond normal.
“Please don’t hurt him.” I lower my voice, afraid he’ll crush my nephew in his strong arms. “Give him back to me, please.” I slowly extend my arms.
“He is my heir. My blood, my firstborn, and the future leader of this band. Why would I hurt him?” He frowned, looking at me like a question mark.
Strangely, the baby calmed down in his arms, as if he recognized him just by being near. Maybe he’s telling the truth, maybe he’s the father of this child! My sister had warned him that he was an extraordinary being, but none of this makes sense. How did she meet him? Why did she hide from him?
I raised my chin defiantly, compelling him to keep his gaze on mine.
“How did you meet my sister? Why did she feel she had to hide from you?”
A mist hung over his gaze, making me shiver under the weight of his presence. His eyes were aflame with predatory intent. Despite his intimidation, I didn't avert my gaze. I needed the answers, and, more importantly, I needed to know if we were in danger here!
“With the moon's shackles as a witness and the pack's roar as a guide, I entwine the destinies of the wolf and the Succubus. Sealing shadows, I weave the magical veil that will protect the beast, where the alpha's mind and the essence of the Succubus will merge in an indissoluble pact. May the raised veil be an impenetrable shield, where not even the shadows of temptation dare disturb lupine harmony. So be it, under the moonlight, sealed in eternity.” Years had passed since the last battle against the dark witch, a lapse of time that felt like an eternity without catching a glimpse of my beloved nephew. I stared at the sky tinted with orange hues by the sunset, heralding the imminent night that unfolded to make way for lunar majesty. A sigh escaped my lips as I closed my eyes at the riverbank, chanting a prayer of protection to the ancestors, imploring them to safeguard my descendant wherever his journey might lead him. I wished for him to find peace and love, yearning for a day when
I opened my eyes and surveyed the surroundings. We were in a stunning garden in front of a lake filled with fish, accompanied by ancient songs that filled the air. The pack leader stood, extending his hands to help me up.“Where are we?” I asked, raising my eyebrows, perplexed.“I believe we have entered the afterlife of our ancestors...” he replied, examining the surroundings where only the melodies echoed. “Someone brought our souls here!”“You're right, King Lycan, it was I who summoned you!” We turned in the direction of the voice echoing behind us; it was Phillipa, smiling gently. “Daughter.”She approached to hug me, but I took a step back, standing behind the alpha, who wrinkled his nose and growled at my mother.“I'm sorry... I shouldn't...” Phillipa whispered.“Why did you bring us here?” Harvey inquired firmly, his voice sharp.“Calm down, Lycan. I can assure you that my intentions are genuine,” Phillipa sighed, turning her gaze towards me. “Sophie, please, can you at least
He hurled the silver wolf towards me, and I gripped it tightly, chanting magic to keep our bodies in place. Shadowy hands emerged from the rift, grabbing the beast's paws and pulling with force; it roared, attempting to resist. Harvey grabbed my arms, still with closed eyes:“My essence... the beast!” He fainted again, his almost transparent life thread visible as a line, connecting to the beast.“I understand, Alpha, I understand...” I kissed his forehead, releasing him and allowing the hole to pull me, feeling the force of the rift. The beast held me tightly, grabbing my wrists. “Are you mad, Hybrid?” The beast roared. “You'll be consumed by darkness as soon as you pass through the rift.”I smiled at the creature, which widened its eyes in shock.“I will save both of you, close the rift, and bring Nyxara to be by your side... Now I understand.” I sighed, smiling. “You were never the curse; you were the alpha's essence; you came as a guardian, but the shadows corrupted you before.”
POV: SOPHIEI struggled to keep my eyes open as I watched the sinister creature rise in the air, flying and gliding with the Alpha in its arms. Even in his feral form, my mate seemed tiny in the face of the imposing winged creature that held him aloft. My eyes felt heavy, and I closed them for a moment. Suddenly, a deafening roar made the ground tremble. As I opened my eyes again, I witnessed King Lycan staggering and speaking with difficulty, addressing the witch.“You need to get up, Hybrid...” a voice resonated through the wind. “He won't endure for much longer!”“Harvey...” I whispered, trying to lift my body. I felt magic swirling from head to toe, caressing me gracefully and dispelling some of the drowsiness that afflicted me.The Alpha's roar was thunderous, followed by a silence that seemed to freeze everything around. The smell of rust became almost palpable in the air. I turned in his direction, surprised to see him smiling as charmingly as the first time he teased me. His l
POV: HARVEYWe approached the witch, and Sophie was nearly unconscious. We let out a deafening roar.“Beast, don't hurt her!” I warned the creature, emphasizing the importance of not touching my Luna.“I have no interest in killing her, but the witch... Oh, we'll have fun with her!” roared the beast in my mind, eagerly. In our werewolf form, we were possessed by a fierce demon, thirsty for blood and war. The dark witch shuddered subtly, summoning various creatures of darkness to attack us, in a desperate attempt to stop our advance towards her!“Hold us back! I need time with the hybrid!” shouted the dark witch.“Don't even think about it!” I exclaimed, leaping over the creatures and stopping in front of the she-wolf, who struggled not to completely faint.“Alpha...” Sophie murmured with difficulty.“Don't worry, we'll protect her!” Despite the mixture of voices, she smiled upon realizing that the Beast and I were working together.“If you want my mate, you'll have to face us!”“Ah, s
“Stay alert; we're not alone,” the alpha growled, sniffing the surroundings. I did the same, looking up at the sky and spotting the silhouette of the dark witch, whose laughter echoed shortly after.“Well, well, visitors in our illustrious home…” the dark witch spoke playfully, invading the space with her darkness. Her dull eyes were even more drained, and the skin more deteriorated, with dark veins bulging from her neck.“You look terrible, witch!” taunted the Lycan king.“Cursed wolf, I've never been better... And your son, how is he? Oh, yes, he has become a puppet of our king!” She laughed, provoking a loud growl from me, displaying my fangs. “Oh, Luna, calm down; soon you will join us!”“What do you mean by that?” the Alpha demanded.“As you can see, my shell can no longer contain my powers; I need a new one.” The dark witch amused herself. “And now that the Shadow King has obtained a toy more powerful than you, hybrid, I can use her as I please!”“Over my dead body.” I roared th
